Should be interesting - I can't imagine Bat with opera singing but will definitely be watching. Wonder if the orchestra will be accompanying a la MSO? Will be a spectacle anyway
|
Certainly will be interesting to hear a new take on a classic song. Can't wait!

Meat you should be very proud of the performance! Really loved it....you honestly sound great. Not sure if it was Live or maybe recorded and then slotted in at the end, unless they are very quick at getting the set on and off. Meat looked healthy, love to hear Bat sound differant.

IMO, amazingly good. I knew it would have to be an abridged/reworked version, but the orchestral and operatic approach was something else. I had thought 'why not do a song off the new album?' considering how much the new album seems to be trying to get away from the whole 'Meat Loaf is Bat Out Of Hell' thing, but having heard that arrangement and how it fit in with that show, I was thoroughly impressed. Meat, if you read this, you blew me away for whatever that's worth. One minor gripe - your duet partner's mic should have been lowered a little, or yours turned up. But she was great all the same, and the arrangement was fresh and conducive to the song. A fresh coat of paint on a song that I and probably everyone else on this forum have heard hundreds of times. It worked. It was fantastic. For the person complaining about the opera singer not being Patti...well, you answered your own question. This is a show about combining pop and opera. This arrangement did that. A straight reading of the Bat we've all seen on tour wouldn't have had any relevance to the show. I can understand purists not liking it but still...may as well complain that Pavarotti didn't sound like Rory Dodd when they did Heaven Can Wait together. One last thing...flabbergasted that Kym and Marcella were knocked out. I thought they'd be in the final for sure. |
Marcella was robbed!!!!
But I wasn't .. Meat. you looked and sounded fantastic !! It was very different, special. Great powerhouse finish! Thank you. Caryl |

The arangement was something i woudnt want to hear all the time. However i think it fitted with the show theme. I thought it was a nice one off. I didnt see it as Bat out of hell as it was so differant. With that aside, Meat sounded on top form IMO.
I know meat was singing live but may have been shot as live earlier and then slot in the end unless they were very quick getting him on and off the stage. |
 performance

MONSTRO.....i totally agree.
Been a BIG ML fan for sooooo long, but tonight i sat here a bit bemused why this came about. No doubt meat's voice is still good as ever, but should of been patti alongside him.Probably not what the 'TV' people wanted though. Roll on the album.... |
just listening
Meat was good, but that woman...:lmao: Im laughing so hard here my sides hurt!!! |
Any-way.....1 last tit-bit.
Is there any...any...any slim chance that meat could do the download festival in june.? |
audacious, creativity ! both themes brought together brilliantly !! just watched again, awsome performance !!
|
download fest
i dont think meat loaf dose festavels i read somewere that he did leeds in1980 or 70s with bonnie tyler and they got bottled of stage and dosent do them but hey you neaver know with meat
|
It's an opera programme hence the opera singer. It's not like she'll be replacing Patti on the tour guys! Relax! I do think it would have been operatic enough (and better) with just Meat singing with that arrangement, but still thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Anyway, what's going to happen next week though (aside from Bernie winning)?! It'll be the last fix of Meat on TV here (that we know of) and then we have to wait exactly 2 months for the album!! It's gonna be tough! At least there's still twitter  |
audacious, creativity, the two themes perfectly combined, just watched again, as the man says ' go with the time and place dude !'
|
It ain't over 'til the Bat lady sings
|
popstar to operastar
I really enjoyed tonights show meat loaf was fantastic singing bat out of hell and it was sad to see kym and marcella to go out tonight. i just hope bernnie will win the show next week i think she is fantastic
|
Wooo!
FANTASTIC!!! So enjoyed that performance! Did you see the look on his face at the end he was positively beaming!! He knew he'd rocked it! Loved that hi-5 to the orchestra. Wake up UK, Meat Loaf 2010 has arrived x x x :D

Meat sounded absolutely fantastic, but the woman....I have no comments :-) |
The - Loaf - Is - Back
Alright, negative first:
I think the opera style voice of the girl didnt fit the song AT ALL. now the good stuff: After watching this, I seriously doubt those last years with the vocal problems ever occured. Meat didnt just belt out the song like he did so frequently, he was actually vocally in control, yet had a power in his voice I havent heard in years. Good thing that he took a new approach to the song, and didnt just run through the old routine the 4586th time. The arrangement was interesting, reminded me of that Royal Philharmonic album from the nineties. He should definitely do a whole show with just him and an orchestra, that would be something interesting. Lastly: Kudos to Mr. Loaf for actually competing vocally with a professionally trained opera singer. He's good at what he does, but it takes A LOT to play on the same level as those people. He risked a lot when he went on stage with that girl, but he won 100%. --> now off to pop in the MSO DVD. :D |
F**king AMAZING Voice!!!
Meat kicked ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Meat, I actually enjoyed that, and I can't stand opera!!!!!!!
He looked happy, healthy and was enjoying himself! |
He nailed it, nailed it, nailed it. Yiiiihaa!:D:D
|
Have to say, I thought that "BAT" was absolutely brilliant. Meat sounded in great voice and the different style to BAT was great.
I know we have all heard the rock ballard it is known for but I really did think it was great! Me and my brother watched it a couple of times and I thought it was great. The crowd loved it!! Well Done Meat!! |
Fab performance. Well done Meat! :))
