Yes, despite loaferman61's displeasure , I thought it was :-)

Mark had posted here on Friday that he wasn't going to buy the DVD, and today that he had watched it on his computer. Rather than make an assumption I simply asked the question, because bootlegs seem usually not to be great quality, and I was and am dismayed if it has been bootlegged onto the net even before its release date.

mikeloaf 01 Oct 2012 20:57

The review is positive. I can't wait to watch the DVD, tomorrow I hope, and put the CD in my car.

I do not feel it is legitimate to basically imply that someone has done something that you yourself have called theft, just MHO. It is basically saying so did you steal that? Legitimate - maybe, tacky IMO yes.

CarylB 01 Oct 2012 21:16

I implied nothing. I asked, and have explained why I asked. Yes, I consider bootlegs theft, many on here don't.

The question was imo legitimate and not "tacky" given the information I could see .. ie a post saying he would not be buying it, which was actually made on Saturday rather than Friday.

Sometimes people, myself included, embellish and or fib when they are writing while in a huff. An truthfully it's not a big deal that you or anyone else asked the question. I'm over it, and I confess my sins as such.

Please, we have gone around and around over the same thing...please let it go and move on before this gets the old lock put on it?

Question for people who have gotten the package...any difference in the DVD and CD versions of the songs that you can tell?

jessrover 01 Oct 2012 21:52

I havn't had chance to watch all the dvd but what I have seen so far is brilliant. I just need to invest in a really large tv and then I would feel like I was actually at the concert. Keep up the great work Meat, I hope we get to see you soon.:D

YTTW has obviously had the speech cut. But all the other osngs have the sound effects/extras that are on the DVD.

Took words was cut on the CD, no banter with the crowd on there.

I would have to watch again but the CD version of All Revved Up seemed like It may have been shortened a well but I will have to double check. Other than that its the same

Just got word from Amazon.com US that the release date is now November 20th. WTF? I mean seriously WTF? I hear it is region free can anyone confirm this to be fact and if it is where can I get the best deal and quickest shipping?

Okay, I am just going to speak from wisdom here because I have seen this go down time after time... The super duper hard core fans from around the world will all jump the bandwagon and purchase from the UK retailers. The sales will slump around the rest of the world, and the record company will see sagging sales elsewhere and this will affect future product from Meat Loaf. It is simple economics here.

I agree, but such is the woes of having multiple staggered release dates. Especially when they were initially touting a single, simultaneous world wide release

Watching it through, my overwhelming thought is that it feels like being at a Meat Loaf concert - IMO this is the first of Meat's live releases to replicate that feeling of being there. The lighting and the sound mix are the difference in doing this, and are both are truly great.

Thanks Meat for another top notch release to add to the ol' collection. It was well worth the wait.

Mark, Go back and listen to the original melody of Hot Patooie it does not go up the line you thought was yelling I went for something and didn't make it. so it was spoken . I was testing my high end always do on the 1st song . I do now on Red light. Just to know where my voice is for the rest of the show. I couldn't hit it that night, so it was spoken or as you put it screamed but there are really great singing moments on this DVD , not everything is perfect but some parts are great.
Meat

mikeloaf 02 Oct 2012 00:32

I'm looking forward to the post man tomorrow it's going to be so exiting to put the DVD on!

Dave 02 Oct 2012 00:36

Can I say again, it is amazing to get the first-hand input from Meat himself on this forum?

mikeloaf 02 Oct 2012 00:37

Yeah it is great!

loaferman61 02 Oct 2012 00:38

Meat, any idea on the mysterious constantly shifting US release dates? According to Amazon USA they are now up to Thanksgiving. I switched my order to Amazon.UK at twice the price to get it mid-October. I want to go on a rant about the distributor, but maybe there is a reason.

mikeloaf 02 Oct 2012 00:39

What I have learn't is that the artist has little input to the distribution or price of their product.

Fire Ball 02 Oct 2012 00:40

THe CD

There was never going to be a CD, but they threw it in at the last moment... They had the right in the contract as bonus material. They could not sell it as a CD. If we would have known in time, there were things Paul and I would have changed . It is what it is . I do wish We had control over everything thing, but we don't. No Jim and I never got paid for Bat, well some but not what we are owed , not even close , they owe us over 20 million dollars.

As well as this being yet another 6 week delay on the US release which puts it shipping Thanksgiving time and will no doubt delay shipping time due to the holiday and Christmas shopping. I wonder if they think a holiday season release is going to sell more? I can say they have frustrated the hell out of a willing and waiting customer. At least I should get it mid-October rather than late November since it is region free and I can get it from the UK.

Fire Ball 02 Oct 2012 00:44

Yes, they had a deal in the US but it fell through. They are making separate deals in each country. Because Sony US blew HIAHB so bad they are having Problems. If they keep having so many problems in the US I'm going to call Rob Cavallo.

I hope the sugery goes well and look forward to seen you when you get here.

I do fight for the Price of tickets for Live shows, it Depends on what the union contract is at different venues. I can keep prices down when the Union does not charge for 12 people to plug in an amp. !!

That makes sense, and after listening to it several times, i feel like you had found your stride towards the end of the song because the last for high lines are nailed quite well.

An aside, I have to say that peace on earth is about as perfect as you can get. Spectacular performance of that song

And good luck with your knee replacement surgery !

Fire Ball 02 Oct 2012 01:07

No , just by the end of the Year... Everybody has been begging for another Story Tellers tour even VH1 ... So we are doing that tour before the end of the Year 2013 and maybe some weekends in 2014. Going to work on a XMAS album and working hard on something special but I can't talk about right now . The Minute it clears I will let you Know !!!

No argument there Meat - there are so many moments on the GP DVD where you looked like the happiest man in the world at what you were hearing from the band. It's lively to see.

The point where you refer to what Jimmy's reaction would be (I won't quote to preserve it for those who don't have the DVD yet) gave me a lump in the back of my throat.

Unfortunately I didn't make it to the Storytellers tour, but watching you and Patti singing Paradise on the DVD is what got me hooked on you in the first place :-) I've truly loved all of your shows ... but I've always wondered what it would be like to see you in a truly intimate setting and hear you share your stories behind the songs. So thank you for the opportunity !

Back in July I saw Trace Adkins do the same type of show in Lancaster, and I absolutely loved every second of it  :-)

Okay Surgery not so great news....but I'm sure you put it off long enough. You'll be fine, the Physical Therapy will be cake for you, I don't see you staying down for long. I'm sure you'll be doing all the things the docs tell you not to do ;) REBEL!

I heard CHSIB, Testify, and I'd Lie For You were on deck for the 2013 set list.

Your rock shows are stupendous .. That goes without saying ;) But I can understand why they beg you to do Storytellers again. It played so well to all your strengths, especially your improv and quick humour. I'll be there in a heartbeat :D

Did you see the live Storytellers show? Slow and dull it wasn't! .. how could Meat ever put on a slow or dull show????? When Meat rocks he rocks!! When he sings ballads he is passionate. When he's feeding off an audience with that quick wit he's amazing.

Yes" All coming back" and CHSIB also trying to put Testify into "Giving tree"
I think it will work perfect and a big Ballad in the 1st act either "left in the dark " or "Objects" which one do you think ... I lam leaning to "Left in the dark"

Left In The Dark would be beautiful...and Justin on piano would take it places it has never gone before...stunning! I was a new fan and way up in the lawn for the Born To Rock Tour...I'd love to see the sensation you could make it now.

So do I :D I wonder if the "Yes" meant BAAB would be in? That was simply stunning at the Royal Albert Hall, and should have been a hit single !!

I think Left in the Dark would be wonderful .. although I suspect the majority of an arena audience would immediately recognise and cheer for Objects

Left in the dark is one of my favorite songs. There is my vote :)

There is nothing I love more than seeing Meat Interact with us here. I'm literally smiling ear to ear just reading this. I needed a break from doing all this college homework! Thanks Meat! Can't wait to see you in Cleveland! :D

Sorry to hear about your knee Meat, all the best for the surgery for that. Any chance you would come back to Australia with that tour Meat? I know you said you would never come back here, but we would love to see you here again.

That sounds great Meat. I'd love Left In The Dark, it's been a while since you sang that live.

Of the two hearing Left In The Dark again would be awesome, but how about something different like Surf's Up?

Actually...the whole venue would have to tell Wario "fukc you" should he request a song. One of the rules of Storytellers is you cannot request a song, if you do, Meat Loaf guides the entire venue in saying "fukc you" and you have to sit down.

Evil One 02 Oct 2012 12:04

Objects In The Rear View Mirror by a wide margin. As good as it would be to hear Left In The Dark again, Objects is a far better song and I suspect Justin's piano work would be awesome.
