angelica 28 Sep 2008 21:29

is it just me or is this new thingummybob complicated? lol!

MeatGrl1 28 Sep 2008 21:56

No it is... Another thing with time will get easier the more you use it ;).

angelica 28 Sep 2008 21:59

I hope so!!!

mszee 28 Sep 2008 22:16

It's not difficult but it seems to me that it has less privacy in terms of profile? On the other hand...what do I know...I seldom look at them...LOL...

BUT...it is NOT good for stalking...cause it shows who visited your profile! *Scratches her head*...

carole 28 Sep 2008 23:02

Thanks for the updated forum, you've obviously worked very hard on it. Look forward to working out the new features.

When I logged out of chat I did get a Data base error and again when I clicked on new posts but gave it a second and it rectified it's self, will it do this everytime I leave chat ?

Siobhan 28 Sep 2008 23:48

it did that to me - but just as I clicked on the community link at the top of the page...

Monstro 29 Sep 2008 00:40

R, is the blog still limited to people on your budy list as you can access it through profile page?

LucyK! 29 Sep 2008 10:38

Apologies if this had been answered already, I'm the least technical-minded person ever :?

Logged on to find I had Friends Requests and accepted them, so what does that mean now? Does it affect which posts/threads I can see if I'm not friends with a person?

AndyK 29 Sep 2008 10:52

No it doesn't

LucyK! 29 Sep 2008 10:56

Are people notified if their request is declined?

carole 29 Sep 2008 11:36

I just noticed I'm no longer a rookie and am a junior loafer with 1 bat!!!!! Yaay for me!!!!!!!

Carole

mszee 29 Sep 2008 13:54

All I know that I have now a whole lot less friends than I had before...:lmao:

Yes, nothing has changed. Look below, a regular user acccessing your profile. Notice the missing Blog Tab.

No. But it's visible on the contacts & friends page. Notice the "Friendship requested" checkbox.

More to come in next post ...

You don't like people spamming your profile with stupid messages?
Well, then control it or turn it off by adjusting the checkboxes accordingly:

Attachment 130

Social Groups can be seen by any registered user, unless the "User must join to view" checkbox is ticked.

Attachment 131

The example MLUKFC Monkeys group is a "Invite only, must join to view" group. Notice the missing last post details.

More questions?
Just ask ...

You're jumping to conclusions a little to quick ... ;)
Since you added no information to your profile, there's nothing more for others to see. Check the "About Me" tab in your profile and click the 'View your "About Me" as seen by ..." link. That is what others see.

True, it shows who visited your profile. But you only see those visitors that are visible. "Invisible" visitors are not listed there. Of course, this does not apply to mods and admins.

Friends and Group Memberships however are shown to every registered user visiting your profile - but that's intentional as these are parts of the networking features.

I can tell you that the next vBulletin release will add finer controls to secure profile privacy. It's already mentioned on the developers' blog. But this software is still a few months away.

Hope that helps a bit.

mszee 29 Sep 2008 20:09

Thank you, R...

One more question...so I am no longer invisible for those friends that are added. Is that correct?

Thank you.

Is it just me that's getting the message "the server is too busy" so can't connect to the site message all the time?

I've had that too. It's usually when I'm trying to post something really funny, and then by the time it's sorted itself out, I've forgotten what I was gonna say...
