All the news coverage of the plane ditching into the Hudson River yesterday has sparked one of those discussions in the office ...

If they have life jackets on planes in case of emergencies, why don't they have parachutes on cruise liners?

That was awful and lucky at the same time...what they should do is really close LaGuardia is what they should do...

Since we can't possibly do that...I'd say close LaGuardia...it's just an awful airport in general...birds fly over other airports too...there must be a way to protect the planes from bird attacks...geez...doesn't it make you feel sad that Hitchcock is dead???

Put the birds on peak and off peak rates

and on another thought

why are NTL so rubbish at understanding simple english...their customer service is terrible.

One report said it was a flock of geese. I doubt there's anything that you do to a jet engine to protect it from that, that won't also stop the airplane from getting off the ground ...

Dave

AndyK 16 Jan 2009 16:48

Having been attacked by a canada goose once I can understand why an airbus didn't stand a chance!

allrevvedup 16 Jan 2009 17:08

AndyK 16 Jan 2009 17:10

No. Which is my point.

allrevvedup 16 Jan 2009 17:21

in all seriousness, it shows you how well that pilot did because landing with two engines out is unheard of...from what i was told by a few people today

up at 7 to get clothes washed (not down by the river before someone says it)

that's the problem of only having a washing machine, instead of a washer dryer, and irish weather.

Sense of humor is a great sense...but what if that sense isn't fully developed...lol...

Seriously, I am sorry...I can't imagine living without washer and dryer these days but I do remember days when the laundry was done by hand in a bath tub and carried all the way up to the attic of the apartment building and hung there...*shudder*

Hi everyone, I'm back! Remember me?! ;)

Really sorry I haven't been on in a long time. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten you or Meat (as if I could do that!); it's just on my old computer whenever I came on this site, every page would take five minutes to load, and I couldn't sort it out :( Have new computer now, though, and it's working fine, so I'll be lurking around quite a lot again from now on :D

Monstro 18 Jan 2009 20:06

Although a Mackem, welcome back!!!!!

needmoremeat 18 Jan 2009 20:13

lol Thanks Monstro!
My goodness, we both suffered yesterday in the footie, didn't we? Can't even console ourselves that the other northern teams got beat too, as they got beat by teams below us that we want to lose so they stay below us! :lmao: And of course it would be the first Saturday of the year that Andy Murray didn't win anything, so even he couldn't make my weekend happy sporting-wise! lol

Monstro 18 Jan 2009 20:16
