I enjoy the Storytellers DVD it shows the "cheeky interactive" side of Meat that for me has been sadly lacking the last couple of time I have seen him. I know I may be in the minority but I enjoy seeing Meat for the overall experience rather than just the music and the interactive bits added to the experience massively. |

There was less chat in LAB compared to some previous tours and whilst some might like it that way, I like a little bit more than just playing the song as it on the record. It's those bits of audience interaction that make a concert special for me and that's why I'm having such a hard time dealing with the fact that I'm not able to be there to see one of the Vegas shows. nobodys reviews tell anything about the show. Put stuff in spoilers and spoil the shit out of everything for us who cant afford to go.

There's no reason why anyone should feel compelled in the midst of attending these to try and describe in detail what happens .. particularly as the shows have been quite a bit different each night. The second night I saw things I'd forgotten .. I have said it's spectacular, done my best to describe the overall show in the appropriate thread .. and if that's not good enough .. well tough. This is a developing show, you have the set list .. it will be different tomorrow. As far as I know there are just 4 people posting regularly from here who have been to the first 2 shows. I think we've done our best |
hard for me to get a grasp at all what the show is like. Like what questions were asked and interesting stuff he said.
Does he tell a full story about rocky horror before hot patootie? |
Quote:
People in Vegas seem unable to grasp what a question is .. saying Happy Birthday or suggesting you should be his date for his birthday are hardly questions. Meat says different things each night .. Answer to your last question, No. There's a show opening. Meat does as he said he would .. open himself up to questions from the audience. He has a stock of photos, video, film etc which is stored on his ipad, and depending on how he takes the show he will show different things. He will segue into the songs in between, just as he said he would. There will be things that surprise and excite. As a whole it will blow your mind, and be quite unlike any Meat show you've seen before. The audience will apparently be unable to grasp what questions are .. this no-one could have anticipated. Meat will deliver despite this. If that's insufficient to enable you to grasp what the show it like than I can't help you. If you expect me to remember and quote everything he says each night, then I can't help you. But Meat will always be interesting. This is not a tour where he has designed a new scenario for Paradise, and will follow that with some modifications. He builds an interactive show each night. To know more you need to see one, as I am neither a video-recorder nor a stenographer. This means you get to a show or wait for a DVD, because you will not see it all laid out on YT. It's special, it's new, it's a product of Meat's creative vision. The producers are very pleased. I believe firmly that he will be doing a further residency at Vegas, and that we will see it developed for theatres as he hoped. I would recommend anyone to save and plan to get to see a show. And to be hugely pleased for Meat that he has pulled off something innovative and very special, and something that opens up a new path for him. |

I saved and saved, and spent a lot to come to Vegas and see this show. I came to have a great time, watching Meat deliver something new and exciting. I am doing that .. not making notes. Meat's been awake until the small hours night after night working on this innovative show. Chris, I wouldn't want to dissect it to death like a butterfly on a killing board even if I could. It's a slice of ever changing magic, it's exciting, it's fun, it's different each night as Meat said it would be. It's to be experienced and enjoyed. |
I give up. I have to wait for the DVD to understand this show

If you are looking for some kind of transcript of the show ..there isn't one. Meat has SAID .. there's a foundation and the full detail of the show is different every night. It's NOT a tour concert, so if you hope to read our experiences and run your real or mental tapes to find the closest one .. you'll be shit out of luck. It isn't one of any of those shows. It's entertainment!!!! It's a Vegas show put on by Meat .. not a concert. It makes you go wow! .. makes you laugh .. makes you want to get up and dance, cheer etc (if you aren't dead from the neck down) .. And it won't be on YT .. so will remain a surprise for all who go to it ;) |
I don't think Wario was wrong to ask for a review of the content in a review thread, but I do think we're all getting tired of reading the same things over and over again, can we skip on please?

Shooting a DVD of this show is impossible , The show changes every night , So if we shot one night it would not even be close to the DVD the 2nd night. It's like like the review said today Vegas has not seen anything like this before !!

At least a live CD...
WOrked for STorytellers, that was just one show |
Patience young man. There will be a DVD of the Last At Bat at some point, probably with a couple of Brave & Crazy songs. There's too much potential money left on the table for it not to happen.
|
Please , Evil one ... Help me find that table !!! Records don't sell like they used too, and touring, all the Governments, take double the taxes they did just 6 years ago . Germany being the worst !!! When we were touring the states . We had to pay state Taxes in every state where we played a show . We have filled out as many as 32 state tax returns in one year !! That is why everyone is coming and sitting in Vegas . This show was very expensive to put up in a 1300 seat theatre and everyone in the band is making more money than I am right now . It's Vegas, a Gamble !!!

I finally have internet again.
Thank you Meat for a very entertaining show last night. I had to extract the magic out of my review here because the stuff going on in this show is like an illusionists tricks revealed. The best I can come up with is 3 shows in and Meat's already an "All-Star" Vegas Pitcher. The venue is intimate and cozy, the showroom is inviting (lots of places to take a pic outside the theater), and the gift shop is boutique. That's all the asthetics. The sound of the band was big and crisp. The acoustics were amazing. But I'm pretty sure they are going to have to order a new roof for the place because I can't see possible that Meat's vocals did not blow it off last night. Man I missed that guy. 1 year and 16 days since I'd seen him sing live. Frying Pan took me to Loafdom Cloud #9. Anything For Love ......what an actor, he gave me goosebumps on top of goosebumps with his gesture lines and scene control to the point of audience = palm of MEAT'S hands!! Interactive part was informative and funny. Never seen before pics from Meat's own collection that aren't on Google Images ;) I seriously can listen to him all night long. And the videos that went along with the songs.....I had to remind myself to look at them because I had a bit of tunnel vision watching Meat most of the time. So this was my first Vegas show EVER and Meat broke me in right. I'm no longer a Vegas show virgin. LOL! I went into last night review-less and I was completely unaware to all the tricks Meat had up his sleeve. To see HIS CREATIVE BRAIN out on that stage is so freakin' cool to witness. I'm still trying to catch up with all his frogs, therefore this may not be the most awesome fan review to read. I feel a bit scatter brained but so exhilarated at the same time. Just immense. What's a show without meeting amazing peeps? Was lovely to meet Lucy, Andy, Guy, & Tonyloaf, for the first time last night. Ladies S., Yevonda and Caryl I had a great time catching up and meeting everyone. Safe travels to everyone. While I was home I knew I was craving a Meat live performance.... now that I'm here, I realized how much I missed him. Loved every minute of it. Thursday can't come soon enough, but I will savor the anticipation nonetheless. Suzanne |

Meat sounded great! Just want to thank every member of the band for putting on a great production , bring on thur! Yevonda, Susan, GREAT MEETING YA'll :) |

Not bad? Yeah .... You're alright I guess :-) Great three shows. Nothing like we've ever seen before, yet somehow still familiar and a perfect fit for Vegas the city of Original Sin. So happy that you finally got an audience who understand what a question is.
Don't want to be sat in an airport writing this because it means the trip is over. |

To the best of my knowledge no one here has had their question answered. BUT, we are sitting real close to the stage. He's on the center walkway and past most of the front tables when he is answering these questions. Besides, we are privileged that he answers a lot of questions here for us as his time permits. I feel like others (non-UKFC members) should have an opportunity to ask questions. Hoped this helped. |
Quote:
It was great .. we got answers and saw footage that was new .. and that's what the show is about .. A core set list, but from that foundation Meat can build a different show each night, and does :D |
Well I am back home now, back to the grinding stone. I had the time of my life in Vegas this past week. All three shows were amazing. Every show I saw something that I didn't see in the prior show! It is so much more than a concert! I can't recommend going to one of the shows enough. It really is worth every penny and the long hours of traveling!!
On top of Meat and the band giving it everything they had, I got to finally meet some of you from here. You were all really cool people and I am excited to see what next year brings. Caryl, you were a great roommate and a very genuine caring person. I miss you already!! Susan, Suzi, Tony, Guy, Lucy and Andy what can I say. You are all great people! I had a great time getting to know you all. It is nice to finally put a face to some of you! Guy I still think you are the weird one... Anytime any of you want to travel back to the states my home is open! Until then I hope to see you all in Vegas next year!! :D |
Speechless. We arrived home yesterday morning and I'm still speechless (though much of that is jet lag!) Not entirely sure where to start with this post!
The City...ohh my days, what a place! Andy went to Vegas years ago but I'd not been (I'd actually not been to the US!) so I was very unsure what to expect...whatever it was, I wasn't expecting what we got!!!! I know a lot of people think of Vegas as tacky but it's too big and on too grand a scale to be tacky, it's wonderfully extravagant to the point of living in a fake world. The people were great, the weather is wonderful, the Grand Canyon and Death Valley were out of this world...I've definitely left a chunk of my heart in Nevada! The show...outstanding. It's definitely a Las Vegas show, do not attend expecting Storytellers, do not attend expecting Last At Bat or you'll set yourselves up for disappointment and that would be a huge shame. I'd be interested to see if it works elsewhere but it's definitely fitting for Vegas, from the big things to the smallest details it is Vegas. We saw the first three shows and definitely saw three very different shows. As has been said the crowd struggled with the questions. Because no-one knew they would be given the opportunity to ask something they'd not had time to come up with anything decent in advance, so when put on the spot with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to speak to their idol they panicked and Meat was bombarded with a sea of "I love you", "Happy Birthday for tomorrow" and "Happy Birthday for yesterday"...I could go on! Meat changed his approach slightly on the third night and it worked. It was brilliant too to be reminded of how much of a personality Meat is. We know he can perform when he sings but it was special to see him stood telling stories and completely holding every member of the audience, the man was born to be on a stage. Meat's voice was truly brilliant, the combination of shorter shows and no travelling are working wonders and Meat left the stage looking as though he could do it all again (almost ;) ) The band are great as ever, for the life of me I can't remember the name of the lady who's in for Justin (I'm sure it began with K...) but she's doing an awesome job under difficult circumstances. We were really pleased to see how much money and promotion has been put into the project. There were times, certainly at the venue, that you couldn't move for Meat Loaf-related pieces. Lots of new merch, all of which was gorgeous and really well presented, there were free Meat Loaf badges on arrival, cocktails in souvenir Meat Loaf cups (not cheap but nice!). Posters everywhere, Meat Loaf tables in the bar, adverts on the cabs, a truck riding around town playing the songs...I've never seen that much advertising for a world tour, let alone something in one venue! They're really backing him out there! The cocktails...well, Andy's sorting the photos as I type this, they speak for themselves. And, as always, the people...great to put some new faces to names and to see some good friends out there loving every minute of it all. It's definitely right that what happens in Vegas will be staying in Vegas, but thank you to everyone - you know who you are - who made our trip and our first anniversary so special and completely un-toppable! Love and miss you all already! |
Yes, the promotion has been outstanding .. as of course it should be .. but great to see Meat getting what he and his show deserves :-)
This show has SO much to offer, plays so well to all Meat's skills and stagecraft. As well as the new things he introduces each night, the improvements he makes, the different ways it develops between the songs .. the base foundation has so much packed into it. Each night I saw more as it unfolded in front of me. Even though each night as the intro to BOOH started up and I felt .. Oh no! It can't be over .. it must go on for longer!!, I've also been amazed that Meat has managed to pack so much into the hour and a half, which has felt so much longer. As you say Lucy, this is not a concert show, nor Storytellers, and no-one should go expecting either. But if you love Meat, his band, his creative vision, his brilliance as a performer, all round entertainer and a magician rather than simply a singer of songs .. you will be delighted :D I've said on the Review thread, to see this show is to feel you have experienced all Meat can offer after a long and successful career; each night you glimpse into just how creative his mind is, just how much he knows about staging, fun, excitement .. you start to see just how much he and Paul have put into bringing all the wealth of ideas about how to excite and entertain an audience into a reality on stage. This is a show that if you saw it a hundred times, it would never jade. There is SO much to see .. every night I saw something more that had been built in to make it a bigger experience than he has ever given us. I can readily understand why the producers' jaws were dropping as he laid out his vision. Everyone on stage is superb, as we expect .. Meat gives the showman performance of his life each time .. he has conceived something brilliant and spectacular, and he and Paul have brought that conception to a reality. It's big, bold, colourful, dramatic, all embracing. It's complex in its design and delivery, and I have not a doubt it will simply get bigger and better each night .. I have been reminded each night of how I felt listening to HCTB the first time .. that finally someone had removed any boundaries on what Meat wanted to deliver musically .. this show is the same. Finally Meat has put into reality on stage the vast breadth of creative ideas he has for entertaining an audience, for filling their senses with what a "show" can be. We've seen how brilliantly he uses video to enhance the songs in recent tours and been amazed .. now he's doing this on so many levels, with so many small details as well as big effects. I would love to be able to get back and see more shows as this residency continues .. but know that if he takes it to theatres it will keep growing; and I can see this working brilliantly in theatres, because Meat will make any adjustments and bang in more creative ideas to make sure it does :-) I felt every night that this is where his career has been leading him. You're right, it is not his touring show .. it is much, much more .. and without all the exhausting features of being on the road, he seems to tire less, and his voice is superb. It is a big, dramatic and ever changing helping of Meat Loaf on stage that hopefully we can revel in for some time to come. Whether they will at some point be able to capture this on DVD I don't know .. I do hope at some time they will be able to for those who might otherwise not be able to see it . perhaps when he takes it to theatres? And when he does take it there I would simply say, if you can possibly get to where he's playing do so. It won't be an arena show, a tour show, a rock concert .. he has given us 35+ years of those, and there are some great DVDs if that's what you want. But this is ALL of him .. and it's a magnificent all :D |
My second show last night was outstanding! I would say Meats voice was so good maybe the best I've ever heard. There was a buzz in the atmosphere last night, as it was a press /media night a lot of stars were in the crowed next to us. Was great seeing pearl scot Amanda and reveal there next to us, scot was in ore of meat and rocked out. Some good questions asked, and great seeing meat having his friends there (he picked on the )
The show gets better and better, great to meet everyone , VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY!!!!! Meat THANKYOU!!! |
Oh my my, great show tonight too.
I take away something NEW every night. Meat tugs my heart to stay here with him and listen to his stories, but it is time for me to fly out tomorrow. Tonight was really funny highlighting his quick witted ad libbing (which I love). I get the impression that Meat would like nothing more than to throw the Ipad in the Bellagio waters I think. I thought it gave him minimal issues actually tonight, but he was worried (or acted worried about it). And yay, someone got the champagne tonight. 1st time of the show. The question was: What was Meat's first band? ~ Meat gave a very informative and quite funny response. (*bumblebee still kills me). I couldn't have had a better seat watching him sing. REVVED UP! OMG! But still, the whole night was very strong vocally. The only bad part was that it ended. I was teary when Bat started all for selfish reasons. I didn't want it to be over. I shook it off though, to send out Meat with the best batch of positive vibes and love I could muster. I know it's going to hit me tomorrow that I have no shows left in my cart. But, I have these three shows to recap on my big poofy Meat Loaf cloud. Thank you Meat!!! The Valentine One. lol. |
It sounds like everyone's having a great time in Vegas! And from what I'm hearing the rest from touring city-city has been a great thing vocal-wise - all reviews I've seen have been great. I wonder if Meat will put a promo video together for the show at some point - just something for the site and the facebook page, and youtube in general to promote the show. Talking/singing clips, etc. Could be cool.
|
Sounds like an incredible show
|
It really is, can't praise it highly enough!!!
Just a thought though, not sure what the others who've seen the show will agree or not, but I'm not sure how this would translate to DVD :? The show itself is brilliant but for me one of the things that made it so special and unique was the feeling and the atmosphere in the theatre. To see Meat in such an intimate venue with every single person hanging off his every word...not sure that would translate to DVD to be honest. A DVD will capture the songs, the lights, the effects, the "Vegas extras"...will it capture the magic, I'm not sure, I hope to be proved wrong! |
This has to be seen in Vegas for you to get the real feel of it, DVD better for a tour

October 3rd Rocktellz
Better late than never! One of my favorite sayings ;)
Vegas has been a life-long DREAM of mine...Meat, Red Carpet Premier, Vegas, and the company I was with...was like hitting a grand slam HOME RUN! Coming out of the airport seeing Meat on the taxi's, plastered a smile on my face that NEVER went away! Now I just spent nearly an hour on a detailed review...and my computer went BLANK! so I'm going to have to keep this one short and sweet! I was a typical tourist in Vegas, my neck stretched in ways I hadn't know it was capable of! The M&G was awesome, Meat remembering me of course made it truly special. The unexpected surprise of the Red Carpet premier left me feeling like a celebrity in the company of, and conversing with Pearl, Amanda and Ian...never mind seeing adorable Revel for his very first photo out in public!! So very Nice to meet Tony & Guy from here as well! Red Light to start...Yep...I was gonna have a "GOOD time tonight"! Lemon and Dead Ringer kept me dancin' up a storm. And Hot Patootie always great to hear when you've been listening to Meat as long as I have! A lil table bump during TTW, thankfully a forgiving FRIEND who knows me, and knows that dancing is my escape and it's "not a crime" LOL Frying Pan was IN, and now I remember how much I missed it! I overheard Meat talking to "The UK Bee Gees" @ the M&G. Telling them when you have a hit like AFL the critics expect perfection. As all of Meat fans know, he put so much passion, he gave it HIS ALL...to me, that alone IS PERFECTION. The goosebumps remained throughout this song. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss Patti, but I have to say I am a MEAT fan, and just have to go with the flow of change. Paradise had a fresh vibe and was vocally fantastic on both ends. Revved and all of the "Vegas" extra's left my jaw dropping! Bat...My favorite "Hit". The power, the emotion, the atmosphere, the lyrics and Meat hitting the notes. I know the end is near, but a perfect ending at that it was. Seize the night, grab it by the horns...we only live ONCE, and I've come to realize just how precious life can be, so however do you thank an artist for providing lifetime memories like these? You tell him as long as YOU are ROCKING...Hopefully, so will I!! Thank-you Meat, for another unforgettable evening I will cherish forever. As I said on FB...Vegas OFF my bucket list! xoxo ~Karen |

The producers did say they wanted to make a DVD. I would see this as something later down the road. And while it might not capture all the magic we experienced, it would still imo be very special for those who will never be able to see it live. And I would buy and treasure it as a souvenir of a wonderful experience :-) |
To those still going to Vegas don't forget some of the best places in Las Vegas are outside of the city. You'll need a car but it's totally worth going.

Lucy, more impressed by Death Valley than by the Grand Canyon? I see, you have a strange taste not only when it comes to music or men... |
Lmao all of my tastes are questionable Mr Marxen ;)
The Grand Canyon is, of course, spectacular, but you kind of know that before you get there. Death Valley was a complete shock so has probably had more of an impact. We got out of the car at Death Valley and stood in shock as we realised it was complete silence, and I mean complete silence! It was so quiet it was painful, like going deaf, it was actually quite scary! Incredible experience though. Post-show blues have seriously kicked in...I feel so lucky to have been at all but would give anything to go back :( |
For those going to Vegas at some point, worth mentioning that for most credit card transactions you need photo id, so best to carry a driving license or passport with you whenever you're out and about.
It didn't even occur to us that most places are inside casinos so they want id for everything and I'm sure that included the merchandise store at PH. |
Just returned from Las Vegas on Sunday after seeing shows on 10/10 and 10/12. Don't want to give anything away for those who are still going, but, if you've followed Meat's posts on here, you should pretty much know what to expect. It's unlike anything he has done before. It really is the perfect showcase for the many talents he has. You see the actor, story teller, comedian, great ad-libber, singer....and of course, the greatest Rock & Roll band in the world! The show was different both night, and as he said, would be nearly impossible to put to a DVD.
If you get the chance......you don't want to miss this! |
