Because that's just the beginning. NOTE: Whoever is taking my posts and copying them onto FB (and other places) -- please don't. I drop this information for THIS community only. If I see it again -- I'll stop and I won't post here (which would be a shame, as we're rapidly approaching a time where I CAN divulge some of the things I've been working on. I'm not supposed to do this until AFTER the musical has come out and everybody has seen it, so -- CAN IT! Okay?). |

You should have told me earlier it would be this easy...:lol::-P |

P.S. These replies -- which used to be quite amusing -- are tiresome, and getting old. Quit while you're ahead. |

You post in an area were unregistered visitors can also see. Basically it's an open board and claiming it's something that should stay on here is quite naieve (and even a bit hypocritical). In all honesty, if you want to share something that is not going to leave this place, you should consider PM-ing people or just accept that this is the world wide web ;) If people see newsworth in your post you can count on it they are going to re-post it. |
I'm with Adje on this one. If you dont want people to know don't post it.
As for threatening Adje with action re his fantastic YouTube channel that is appreciated by many - please grow up!!! |

I know it's a game of 'bait the bear', 'see who can get an inflammatory response from trollish comments' to you, Adje -- which is why I don't reply for the majority of the time, because it's so transparent that it just becomes tedious -- but for me this is my career, and there's slightly more at stake than killing some time on the Internet by acting like a child. I just don't have the time or the drive for it right now. But hey, I know I won't lose any sleep over it. It's a shame in a lot of ways, because it spoils it for those who actually do care about this musical and are interested in the creative side of how it all came together (among other things). I've enjoyed talking with those people the past few months, and I look forward to seeing you at the show. Hopefully I'll catch some of you in Manchester/London in 2017 (except for Adje ... who isn't interested in the show yet constantly posts in this thread anyway). Peace out  |

But one last stab because your last remark asked for it (and I hope you can see the humor in it) You probbably catch them all in Manchester. Not me as you said, but I bet it shouldn't be hard to personally welcome the 20+ people that are actually going. That said, and I do mean this. I am happy you do something you are passionate about. And I am happy it works for you. Just like Wario, who says to get heat for his performances. So what. You managed to (I assume) make a job out of your hobby and do what you really want. And I salute you for that, man. I hope this will be the start of much more for you ;) |
Normally I would understand, TWG, especially knowing each other as we do, but I must say, while I disagree with his tone (which, in spite of his explanation, can seem off at times) and his misgivings about the show (though I admit I am not the most confident about its prospects myself), Adje's got a point, in that:
There are many sections of MLUKFC that are off-limits to unregistered guests, but this forum and this thread are not one of them. Anybody -- be they Meat fans, Jim fans, fans of both, or people who wandered in because they wanted to know more about Fred :-P -- can come here, read it, and post it in other places, and they don't even necessarily have to be members of the forum (which is why advising people who are members of MLUKFC not to share information in other places, at least in this particular instance, is kind of a waste of breath). (To my knowledge, the person who posted the information is not a regular poster here, or at least not that I'm aware of. I did comment on it when they shared the info, if that may be the source of confusion.) If you want to keep information from leaking, then the best way to do that is to do just that -- say nothing, or at least say nothing publicly. (Which is something I have learned at my peril, even though the entertainment industry is full of announcements about projects, or aspects thereof, that never came to be; witness tons of stuff in Jim's career as an example.) But if your enthusiasm is going to outweigh your ability to do that, then you have to accept the fact that if you post this information in an area of the forum that anyone can access, anyone can (and will) share the information elsewhere. (Hell, people are just as casual about stuff in members-only sections of the forum as we learned recently with Meat's post a while back in the Braver forum, so this shouldn't be that surprising.) While I wish you wouldn't go, if you understand all this and still wish not to post, I do understand. |

If TWG is willing to share something, it means this place is somewhat special to him. I wouldn't take offense to that. Either agree to honor the ethical rule he's politely asking you to follow, or say you're unwilling. Everybody deserves to have healthy boundaries, we're all adults here and we can all decide what we're willing to do to compromise. Sorry if that sounds a bit cold to Adje - After all, we all find certain websites with up-to-date Meat Loaf information quite useful and exciting - but it wasn't meant that way. Perhaps some sort of a delay before reporting, agreed upon with TWG? |
This all seems rather over the top, I don't see the point in sharing anything from here. I am interested in the creative side of the musical.

I am reminded of the old exchange in reply to a question from another .. "Can you keep a secret?" "Yes, absolutely!" "So can I" ..... end of conversation ;) |
So Everything Louder and All Revved Up are both in the musical as one song.

To add something vaguely relevant, here is a demo mock-up of what the new "All Revved Up Louder Than Everything Else" (as I call it) may sound like in the musical:

I love Meat but I'd take out the bit from Everything Louder.
Too jarring otherwise I lvoe the new lyrics |

Just over 6 weeks to go.
And there's talk of Meat recording BODY for the soundtrack |
i think that meat loaf and jim should do a pre recored message for at the beginning of the show do some comedy thing asking audience members not to take any pics or video anything like they did at beginning of rock of ages they had david coverdale from white snake make the announcement :) and same on the cast recording

One of the best things is we don't quite know what the whole thing will look or feel like yet, how the songs are used or in which order. There's so much still unknown about the show |
How are tickets sales going? I suspect the midweek Manchester dates will have to be heavily discounted to get bums on seats?

London also seems to be going Ok too |

Categorically no Frying Pan, sadly.
Manchester and the first few weeks in London are previews, in case anyone missed that. See you there  |

all i know is if you look on manchester opera house website and look on tuesday 14th march all the stalls are sold out and the circle is all so sold out and the only seats are available is in the gallery i saw this when it went on sale and wonded if that was press night. when i asked at the press launch in manchester i spoke to a lovely guy from the marking department and asked him why was that 14th march on a tuesday was nearly sold out and he said that they have held the stalls and the circle tickets back and only put on sale the gallery because it is likely to be the manchester press night hope that helps :)

Since Danny kindly reminded me what song list he was talking about...
Time to update the standings! Bat I: BAT OUT OF HELL, TOOK THE WORDS, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, ALL REVVED UP (in new hybrid with EVERYTHING LOUDER), TWO OUTTA THREE, PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD Dead Ringer: DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE Bat II: ANYTHING FOR LOVE, LIFE IS A LEMON AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK, ROCK N ROLL DREAMS COME THROUGH, IT JUST WON'T QUIT, OBJECTS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, EVERYTHING LOUDER (in new hybrid with ALL REVVED UP) Bat III: IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW Braver: WHO NEEDS THE YOUNG, SPEAKING IN TONGUES Miscellaneous / New: NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE, WHAT PART OF MY BODY HURTS THE MOST All totaled, and counting the hybrid as one track, we've uncovered a grand total of 18 songs so far. |
Funnily enough, this arrangement of ALL REVVED UP/EVERYTHING LOUDER was the first cut that Jim sent me from the musical. That was almost two years ago now.
|
Give us a clue. How close are we? :-P He's got a lot of songs as it is just from our list, there's no way he can include that many without cuts, how close are we to finished?
|
'very close'. There's one track that I love that you DON'T have on your list...
|
Just looked at ticket sales for Manchester. Saturday nights nearly full. Friday nights decent. During the week abysmal....theatre is virtually empty.
|
As already stated -- these are previews only. Mainstream advertising hasn't even started yet.

Is it Lost Boys & Golden Girls? Or Bad For Good? Or even Surf's Up? |
In the UK most theatre bookers book seats within 2 weeks of when they want to go to the theatre. I don't understand why you're so bothered about how it's selling. There's no reviews, no one's seen the show, no one's heard how great the cast are yet. Once the videos and reviews are out people will start to book.
|
Most theatre bookers in Manchester do not book within 2 weeks - they book well in advance. Manchester isn't a tourist city like London.
|
Quote:
Jim's old blog entries, as you've already stated, aren't exactly what to go by, but they've mostly been right so far, which indicates to me that whatever Jim and others (such as Stuart Beattie) have done since then to the script, the shape of the score has never changed all that much. With that in mind... on the old blog, Jim describes a scene in a factory where "Land of the Pig" is sung by corrupt taskmasters, leading into a worker's riot that includes "Life is a Lemon." Is anything like that still in the show? (Very timely if so, given the political climate in the States.) |
Quote:
On the plus side, you've only got three weeks to wait until all of your questions will be answered. |
I think booking depends on a lot of things.
If an established production goes on tour, then it sells out pretty much instantly. The thing to remember is what has already been said. No one - except people like us who live and breathe these songs - really knows much except there has been a couple of interviews done about it, Meat has mentioned it a few months back and there have been a couple of internet ads. Also, as popular as Bat is in the scope of its sales gathered over 40 years, Meat's music doesn't have the "songs that are played at weddings and parties" or "always on the radio" thing that led to the likes of Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You seeming to become instant hits (I have no idea how well they did on previews and initial release, hence saying "seeming to"). But then look at something like Tanz. Hardly known by anyone in the UK unless they know their Steinman or have a good knowledge of musicals or Steve Barton and yet it's had some great runs - DOTV, not so good for obvious reasons. So, for me, once it is out, reviewed and better known it will start to fly. Until then, those who want to see it will see it, the rest will follow in time. |

Is "Land of the Pig" a song of Jim's that you love? ;) |

'Most theatre bookers in Manchester do not book within 2 weeks - they book well in advance. Manchester isn't a tourist city like London.'
SIMPLY NOT TRUE. I work in Arts Marketing (Theatre Marketing) in the North West of England and have worked on productions which have gone to the Palace and Opera House in Manchester. The majority of people book 2 weeks in advance. Massive established blockbusters book well in advance but the main bulk of tickets are still booked within 2 weeks of the performance date. |

Between the end of the first performance and going up Norf will be hard for me with not reading the internet and spoilers!!
The song list top me is a spoiler even though I've kept a tab of what's confirmed :P |
The woman playing Sloane just confirmed in a Facebook video that she sings a song from Bat II! (See below.) That brings the tally up to...
Bat I: BAT OUT OF HELL, TOOK THE WORDS, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, ALL REVVED UP (in new hybrid with EVERYTHING LOUDER), TWO OUTTA THREE, PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD Dead Ringer: DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE, other unnamed song Bat II: ANYTHING FOR LOVE, LIFE IS A LEMON AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK, ROCK N ROLL DREAMS COME THROUGH, IT JUST WON'T QUIT, OBJECTS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, EVERYTHING LOUDER (in new hybrid with ALL REVVED UP), GOOD GIRLS GO TO HEAVEN Bat III: IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW Braver: WHO NEEDS THE YOUNG, SPEAKING IN TONGUES Miscellaneous / New: NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE, WHAT PART OF MY BODY HURTS THE MOST All totaled, and counting the hybrid as one track, we've uncovered a grand total of 19 songs (for certain, 20 if you count the unnamed DR track) so far. |

I am still flabbergasted that Frying pan isn't in the show. There is quite simply no song more suited to being an act two opener than Frying pan.

I can't wait to listen to the Tanz Dar Vampire and Bat out of Hell the musical soundtracks back to back!

Is Steinman planning to come to Manchester?

Quote:
But saying that the show is already jam packed. A lot of massive songs, long songs. Meat has never dared try that many songs in a show. We're fans but I'd defy anyone to debate that! Paradise and Objects are operas within themselves, the cast needs to look after themselves to manage the enormity!! |
