I think Mike is fairlyaccurate in his post
There are many people on this site who sit on one side or the other and both sides jump down someones throat when something that is at the end of the day all opinion is said. There doesn't seem to be a place here for the objective fan.
I also have read meat's previous posts and he does seem to lose it very quickly over just one or two posts. Would i be the same if i had spent ages working on something then when i offer it out to be told that it has died a death in such a short time, react in the same way? maybe! i dont know.
many posts are too extreme from the we love everything meat does to the that sucked posts, neither interest me at all.
Informed opinions are fine, this has all been blown totally out of proportion beyond belief by Meat himself and a few others who chose to carry it on instead of just accept a dumb title change.
I wasnt gonna come on site cos of all this, i used to enjo coming here for a break from my life, as someone correctly said to me in chat last night, we can get stuck into real life if we want whinging, whining, crying and moaning!

I did evidently come on today and was so relieved to see normal topics show when i clicked new posts. Such as te threads containing OPINIONS good and bad about the 3rd single and other songs, also the fecking Lapod discussion here, it may have been ot but christ we needed it to break the damn cycle!!

Can't we just draw a line under this otherwise it'll turn into a bloody war again!!!

Well said, Anji...

Deb 01 Dec 2006 19:27

I'm also failing to see here how it's ok for a mod to go so far off topic and actually take that attitude to it  Not that i'm against going off topic, as I'm one of the main offenders, BUT Mouse you of all Mods enforce that rule :?

I'm also finding myself agreeing with Bohemian  I dont think he deserved the response he got. As he said he did say he accepts the rules and has debates elsewhere (Don't quote me on the exact wording as I can't be arsed to go back and find it through all the lime green ipods and wedding dress talk :-P )

Actually it matters a lot.

The title of the thread in question had been the same for a couple of weeks without change from the mods or without question by some members, not until Meat posted in it. If the title of the thread bothered people that much and not the content in it then they should have spoken up a lot sooner and not wait till the big guy posted in it.

It's easy to be a sheep but not a shepherd;) C'mon bring on the funnies

Pud

The secret porn stash is for admins and moderators only. :bleh:

True, the thread was around for a while. I didn't like the title then, so I wanted to see how it develops. I forgot about it and stumbled over it just by coincidence.

The good thing is, the mods have let this discussion run AND it's staying here, not spilling over into other topics.

True. I'm changing this thread's subject to something less provocative.
Edit: Name change from Stalin strikes again to Thread name change discussion done.

That's my impression too. But that's not him alone, a lot of our guests clearly read threads completely

Agreed. And this thread should stay on topic.

Deb

Because Deb, i'm annoyed.
I'm just annoyed, i'm completly hacked off.

Why don't you defend Meat more?
Why can't we have freedom of speech?
We can't I report this user for the pure reason he fractured a rule and I don't like that person?

:bicker: :bicker: :bicker: :bicker: :bicker:

I am SICK to the back teeth of all this going round and round without end.

We don't seem to be able to please anyone, and god forbid we should have any feelings/opinions ourselves on any subject more controversial than the one word story thread.

And what responce?

If you don't like a site, you don't go to it.

Is that such a nasty thing to say?

Does that constitute "all guns blazing"?

Because if it does, i'm in deep crap because i'm next on George Bush's wants list.

Yes we have rules, yes we try to enforce those rules in a way that is fair to everyone, but at the end of the day we are a bunch of nazis on a forum run by Stalin (to borrow R's phrase).

THAT is why i'm completly hacked off right now.

You're not the only one who's hacked off Neil.

I try very hard to see all sides on everything. And to see that we all have differences and think different. That said reading the constant crap from all sides is doing my head in beyond belief.

Yes I did also see it as your reply was uncalled for. I don't agree with tons that go on here. I hope that doesn't mean I should go as well. I also hate the not being allowed to go at all off topic. But I have to live with it and every post i make I am constantly aware of it, to the extent that i type stuff and 9 times out of 10, I hit the back button and think sod it.. Hating that off topic rule so much did make your very long off topic convo here pretty hard to swallow

I wouldn't worry that much about going off topic. I mean, yes - it's listed as an infraction worth 5 points with 10 days. But does that really hurt, or remove privileges? No. You would have to do that in a much higher frequency or on purpose like declaring that this thread is now about sharks, like 3 times in a row. It should serve as a reminder, that's it.

Who the hell are you to tell me what constructive criticism is or not? Besides, I wasn't criticising but making a tongue in cheek comment, hence the :lmao: at the end.

Are you a bit pissed that your bullsh!t 'lets hijack a thread' laptop bolloxs got stopped?

I haven't said a word about laptop...so, no...I am not pissed at all...I thought I was moderated for a very good reason, in fact...alone...but for a good reason...

I am a nobody to tell you anything about constructive criticism...but was surprised to see a post like this from a man of your intelligence, wealth of knowledge and generosity...that's all...

I know you like to have the last word...but I already said everything I had to say...I am done here...

Pudding 01 Dec 2006 22:01

Damn right I like to have the last word.

If you saw my post as an attack on Neil then that's your fault not mine, because it wasn't.

I know you and Neil had some funky cyber wedding BS type thing happen, but that doesn't mean you're actually married, nor does it make you a mod by default.

Pud

here we go again :(

R. 01 Dec 2006 22:17

Well, I take it that there's nothing more of interest to say about the name changed thread? No?
I might consider a thread lock then, before this thing drifts away into semi professional flaming.

Monstro 01 Dec 2006 22:21

Can I propose another name change to this thread?

"School Playground" seems appropriate.

Deb

Hmm, after reading this all, I'm slightly bored... (not aimed at you Deb you're just the best one to reply to) The original topic was being discussed and then a select few come and post well erm rubbish. I know I can post rubbish at times but if I don't have anything to add to the thread then I won't... This is partly what my gripe was about the Infraction system this was a thread that should have stayed on topic and it went totally off and were there any infraction points handed out?

Neil, there are a load of us that are sick of it, but when other people complain they are told don't go there then or don't reply. See and don't see kind of thing. To me just because you're sick of it isn't a excuse to help lead a topic off topic.

Going back to the main topic, I don't really see the big issue with the name change, it hasn't changed the topic itself, what difference does a name make? A lot to some, not a lot to others... Life goes on.

djfierce 01 Dec 2006 22:27

Exactly Lou
Blown out of damn proportion.
BTW as i said earlier the ot discussion was great in the way that it broke the fecking cycle of insults
The laptop "bollox" as pud put it was actually a hell of a lot mor intelligent than some other comments on here

KebLou 01 Dec 2006 22:31

Agreed that sometimes it does just end up with mud slinging but I know how annoying it is when *your* topic goes off on a tangent.

djfierce 01 Dec 2006 23:00

personally i think the topic was totally defunct and off topic when the insults started. But anyways i like ya so i'll leave it there ;)

LucyK! 04 Dec 2006 14:53

To be fair Neil (sorry, can't be bothered for finding the post to quote it ), I've gotta agree with Deb in regards the comment about you being off topic, because of all the mods on here it's generally you that enforces staying on topic, and "being annoyed" is surely no reason to "hijack" a thread with wedding dresses...if this infraction system's going to work it's gotta be one rule for everyone.

I hate to say it but I can see a lot of members here going the same way as they did with another ML forum - the name of which shall remain nameless - and just leaving, because I for one am sick of reading the utter crap that's appearing on here.
