I always loved that song until my Mom told me that I was conceived to it. Now I can't listen to it without thinking of....ewwwww! Now I know how Ellis felt, Dottie!

Anyway.....now listening to: Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are....and the rest of Bat II to follow.

with the departure of their guitarist/screamer Mark Jansen (who went on and fromed Epica) After Forever's sound has changed to a more "raw" sound... the orchestra and choir are still presenf, but not as dense as on their last album "Decipher" or on Epica's debut "The Phantom Agony".

Now & Next

Everytime that it rains
The Night I called the old man out
The red Strokes
That old Wind (how you ever gonna know)
In anothers Eyes
and, of course,
Friends In Low places (the live version with that mysterious third verse)

I got fiends in low places
where the beer drowns and whiskey chases my blues away
I'll be Ok
I'm not big on social gracves
Think i'll slip on down to the o-a-sis
Oh I got friends in low places (thats all you guys!!!)

Love that band. I'm a Savatage fan, and a lot of musicians on the TSO albums also play in Savatage - as Paul O'Neill is a major force behind TSO and Savatage's regular producer. Only two christmas albums I can stand :)
Patti rocks on "Beethoven's Last Night" too :)

RSG 08 Dec 2003 21:35

Metallica - Battery

nice acoustic at the first,
then it goes all metal like, and if it sounds good, it is really sweeet.
in this case it does sound good. the vocals have meaning, i mean the lyrics have meaning.

i'm often being joked around, where i listen to real hard metal songs like this one, and then right after i'll put on Heaven Can Wait. I guess it is pretty funny going from a hard song to soft. as you can tell the two are very different, but are both really awesome tunes.

If you like that, I suggest you check out Opeth. Swedish metal band, who do such things in the span of one song. For instance, they kick off with a brutal metal part, and then drop into an acoustic interlude, to switch to some heavy growling metal afterwards... the singer is very capable of doing both the so called grunts (really low, growling kind of singing, sometimes reffered to as 'Cookie monster vocals') and clean vocals. Beautiful voice this guy has...
My recommandation would be either "Still Life" or "Blackwater Park".
