The Last September. very boring movie
|
The Wolf Man... the original starring Lon Chaney Jr ...
|
 Finished off the Nighmare On Elm St movies, then watched Phantom Of The Opera with Robert Englund as The Phantom.
|
Saw the new Robin Hood movie... was ok
|
Quote:
last one I watched was Snakes on a Plane......... tonight it's either American Werewolf in London or The Thing |
Two very bad horror movies:
Night Train to Terror Lousy special effects, annoying music video scenes (you know what the 1980s were like - and they did the same song again and again), weird mix of several plots, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell was going on. At least there was a funny moment when a guy who looked like a Jimi Hendrix impersonator released an extraordinarily ugly insect from a preservation jar. I think it was supposed to be a giant wasp. It looked as if it had been made out of clay and had light bulbs for eyes. :lawl: Maniac Now this is probably one of the worst movies ever made. The acting of the cats was better than that of the humans. But nutty scientists are always entertaining, no matter how bad the movie is and it was interesting to see bare boobs in a film from 1934. |
... ummm... i've forgotten now... there was one ... think think think ... ummm... hehehe ... i remember it was on a channel with ads interupting... ummm... and a cuss blipped out ... hmmm ... ***sigh *** ... this forgettin' thang is sometimes for the birds !!! ...
|
Just watched ~~~~~~ what's it called, hold on..................
rewinded the sky box legally blonde, kinda fun but was probably the whisky that helped lol |

The Mask of Dimitrios
|
Happy Tuesday meatie peeps... in the case i dint say so ... hehe ...
... District Nine ! ... loved the special effects ! ... i felt symphathetic toward the main character at first ... seemed a simpleton ... and then... he seemed evil to me... and in the end ... well ... there ya go ... i liked it all much ...
|
Nixon
Very good, though I'm not particularly a fan of that typical Oliver Stone moviemaking-style. Anthony Hopkins was brilliant though! |
 Just watched the Scream trillogy.
Was Craven & Robert Englund have had the monopoly on our telly for too long  |
Quote:
|
 Thought Fred was a funny nod to Elm St, but never knew it was Wes Craven.
|
yep, it's him
http://www.filminamerica.com/Movies/Scream/scream10.jpg you know they're shooting part 4 now, right? |
... The Ninth Gate... starring Johnny Depp ... husband insisted ? ... hmmm ...
|
I seem to remember that being a pretty rubbish film. I haven't seen it in years though.

I've mixed feelings on that. Anything past three is overkill, but it was a good series of movies, so fingers crossed. Just hope they don't change the nature of the killers(s) too much like they did with Freddy  |
Well apparently Wes Craven is directing and Kevin Williamson is writing the script (same guys as the first 3 movies), so I have hopes this one actually has a point...
watched Hannibal tonight. Hadnt seen this one in ages, actually a lot better than I remembered. Very stylish and gracefully shot, even the infamous brain scene fitted in there in a weird way... |

THink this is the best of the three Lecter films i've seen. I should get round to the other two some time. |
Well, in my memory it was just disgusting. Think I watched it at 12 or 13 years old, and I would have never expected something like that brain scene. Now being older, and seeing the context, I dont know if it is the best of the series, but it's definitely up there with SOTL.
Only one in the series I thought was bad was Hannibal Rising. Have yet to see Manhunter, the original Red Dragon, starring Brian Cox as Hannibal. |
SOTL is absolutely amazing. I really liked Hannibal while he was in Italy, but it went a bit downhill when he got to USA imho. Stupid killer pigs. Manhunter is for me closer to the spirit of SOTL, Red Dragon is closer to Hannibal, but actually I think both are very good. Hannibal Rising I thought was appalling. A blatant cash in, predictable, with few original ideas, that doesn't cover the bit I find fascinating - who Lecter kills while practising as a psychiatrist, and how he gets caught. Of course - leave that out, you can make another cash in film and book!
|
Oh, and looking forward to Scream 4. If it's like 1 or 2, should be a cracker. Funny and scary - the perfect horror spoofs. I just hope it doesn't lead to Scary Movie 5. One of them was definitely enough.
|
A good idea for scream 4 would be to focus on the numerous horror remakes lately. 1 was about horror in general, 2 was about sequels, 3 about trilogies. If they pick up on that this could become quite fun!
Oh and btw, IMDB states Scary Movie 5 is in the works lol |
The Pianist. I recorded it off the TV. Brilliant.
|
The Face Is Familiar ... a documentary about character actors ! ... i totally enjoyed sitting there saying over and over "yeahYeah... so THAT'S your name!" ... lol ... you see them all the time ... sometimes they make the film for you ... and you don't know the name ...
|

 Didn't they cover when Hannibal was caught at the start of Red Dragon? When Ed Norton cathes him. I would of liked to have seen more of the story from before he was caught though. I liked the way Dragon started at that meal for the opera folk as it references what he tells Clarice in SOTL when he first meets her. Quote:

Don't quite know how they'd go about it (but that's why they are film makers and i'm not lol) but that would be awesome. I don't think they'll get onto the idea, but I really hope they do now 8) Quote:

finally got around to watch Manhunter
gotta say I was quite disappointed. Not only did it lack tension or suspense, there was hardly any character development. The whole thing seemed very incoherent to me. Like they took the book, thought what scenes they needed to film to tell the story, wrapped the whole thing with an 80s soundtrack and published it.... Red Dragon is A LOT better, not just because of Hopkins as Hannibal (In this one, hannibal wasnt even a cannibal, he was a college girl stalker :wtf:) |
Quote:
 That could almost be a review of Dance Of THe Vampires. :wtf: Throw in suggestivly shaped sponges and a squeeky annoying tw@ and you're there  |
i started watching a film called Cut ... and nodded off ... i may go back to watch the rest of it... but... brrr... it's pretty gory ... lol ... hmmm ... popcorn ... iced tea evening tonight ? ... maybe ... lol ...

... Jaws ... and YAY... i jumped AGAIN when Bruce bangs into the shark cage containing Hooper... WHAT FUN ! ... lol ...
|
Count Dracula
A rather weak Dracula movie - obviously heavily edited for TV broadcast. It appeared to be pretty short and incoherent. Have to check out if the DVD is better. But it had Christopher Lee and the great Klaus Kinski  in it, so it was fun to watch anyway. |
Karate Kid (2010). Jayden Smith...cute kid, has acting in his blood. I liked Jackie Chan's seriousness in this role.
|
 Secret Window with Johnny Depp
"I'm gonna count to three then I'm coming in swinging ! One... Two.. Aghhhhhhhh ! I just killed my mirror... And my shower door !" :lmao: !! I miss how much I love this movie  !! |
The Wolfman (2010)

quite entertaining and while we're counting through the twenties, I'm currently working my way through the first season of 24. |
GET HIM TO THE GREEK - quite fun!
|
Transporter 3
|
Not watched a film for ages, but the box sets of Life On Mars series one and two arrived last week, so they're going to be taking up a lot of viewing time over th enext week or so!
It's nearly lunch time, and I'm 'aving 'oops :)) |

My last movie? The Number 23. I quite like Jim Carrey in a serious role, but it's difficult to take him entirely seriously... |
Gladiator on blu ray
|
Looking forward to watching that myself... bet it looks awesome!
|

That's a shame. I like Brian Cox. |

I dont think it has to btw, the quality is far superior to the DVD. If it had been any better I would've wondered about the quality all the time, instead of enjoying the movie. Apparently Universal is re-releasing the movie later this year, newly mastered from the original reels, to conicide with the blu ray release of Robin Hood. |
Surely a film released around 2000 doesn't need remastering? Will probably have to buy that as well though
Anyhow, just watched Saw 6. Big improvement on 4 and 5. Much more like it! |
you can get it quite cheap at the moment, paid 11€ for the two disc version, it's getting so cheap as everyone's waiting to buy the new version.

Check out Rogue, another australian croc movie from the same year. Completely different, more hollywood-friendly approach, but an interesting watch as well. |
BOOH Original tour
|
Underworld on blu ray
pretty good! |
War of the worlds ... starring Tom Cruise... i'm sorry ... that film scares the dickens out me !!! ... it's scary when that probe is creeping about the basement ... brrr... and those big huge machines walking about... nowhere to run or hide ? ... omgoodness... i've seen the film before... but it still gives me heart palps... just thinking... "what if?" ...
|
Il giorno della civetta
Thriller from the 1960s, starring Franco Nero, Claudia Cardinale and Lee J. Cobb. |
Black Rain - first time i've seen it all the way through.
|
Hairspray

Jeepers Creepers
actually a lot better than I remembered it... |
... War of the Worlds ... again ... this time with husband viewing it with me ... he's not into sci/fi... but he enjoyed this film ! ...
|
I think I saw that at the cinema and I think I thought it was poo.

The whole thing left a bit of a bad taste though, when I read this story about the writer/director of the movie. |

As Tink says, what is a fan to do. An actor that appeared in a few films I like (Amadeus, Ferris Beuller, Beetlejuice, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Howard THe Duck, Devil's Advocate, Without A Clue, Who's Harry Crumb) is Jeffrey Jones, and I was very disapointed when I heard about the indecent pictures of a minor case. Same as the Polanski case. You can still watch their work, but you still feel disgust and disapointment whenever they appear on screen. I remember when Gary Glitter got nabbed, and there was a great outpouring by his fans where they all gathered to burn their records and memerobillia. I honestly can't say I blame them. |
a scary thought would be what you'd do/feel if this had happened to Meat Loaf...
|
Yes, or indeed Steinman. Could you still listen to For Crying Out Loud knowing that the writer had been kiddiefiddling?
|
 I think an awful lot of people who are fans of an artist had that go through their mind either at the time or at some point since.
I think it's a sympathetic reaction to the poor sods who were so let down by their idol. Luckily, we have Meat & Jim. |

Anyhow, it does make you feel a bit upset when you watch the film again - a little guilty perhaps. I used to do Rock N Roll Christmas at Karaoke at Uni around Christmas time, which is a cracking Gary Glitter track. Had to stop when he got arrested. Couldn't sing it anymore. Feel guilty enjoying listening to his music. Weird. |
Just watching The Screaming Skull. That movie is so bad... The "special" effects... :wtf: I'm about to fall off my chair laughing. :lmao:
|

Okay, who wants to play spot the themes? Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, The Other Boleyn Girl, (hence the desire to re-read the book) Elizabeth, and Elizabeth: Thr Golden Age... Can you tell hubby's away again? |
Jeepers Creepers .. actually ... hehe ...
|
The Fly (1986)
very good! |
Quote:
|
Both versions of The Fly are very good, in my opinion. The 1986 movie is typical Cronenberg.
Last movies I saw: L'istruttoria e'chiusa: dimentichi Flightplan - Started out interesting but the ending was a letdown. The Haunting (the remake, I liked the original better) |
I really liked Flightplan and the ending, a bit predictable maybe.
I just watched The Butterfly Effect Part 3, very good ! Much better than 2, but not up with Part 1, imo Ashton Kutchers best movie. Part One was very original and different, part 2 was too slow, but part 3 threw a big surprise at the end, not what i expected. Very gorey in places, enjoyed it ! |

is that the one where Jodie Foster lost her daughter on an airplane?
|
Yup.

Watched Perfect Stranger last night, was a bit slow but kept my interest and it certainly wasn't predictable, a very good whodunnit, well acted, and hubby liked Halle Berry with not many clothes on;) LOL.. |
The Fly II
wasnt bad, not as good as the first one but entertaining nonetheless |
The Princess And The Frog - excellent - very nearly classic Disney, their best in a LONG time!
Shrek 4 in 3D. Ok. 3D gave me a headache. I find Shrek mildly entertaining rather than actually funny, but passed the time amusingly enough I guess. |
2001 maniacs
"I had absolute confidence in a fart once. I shat all over myself." (Thanks Neil!) |
Inspired by other recent viewing, I'm currently watching Jeepers Creepers....
|
... and i inspired as well ? ... hehe... ended up watching The Fly ... Jeff Goldblum ... i still turned away from the icky bits ... but ... i saw more the need for compassion for the "creature" this time around ... Gina Davis though ? ... not good cryer ... she got on my nerves... lol ... although there could have been a longer pause before she fulfilled request ... yeah ...
|
Just started series two of Life On Mars.
Last night featured the classic Gene Hunt line "Don't move you're surrounded by armed ~~~~~~~s" :lmao: |
Quote:
 Glad you liked it  Was watching the 1st Rambo movie last night, but got a bit tired and went to bed. |
Batman Begins. A slow start but still an awesome film, even with ITV2's poorly placed ad breaks.
