Ocean's Eleven

pretty good

Sarge 03 Jul 2010 10:14

The Hound of the Baskervilles - 1939 version. Scary tales like that work even better in black & white. :angst:

24K 04 Jul 2010 01:32

Blood The Last Vampire, didn't think this would be much cop, but i enjoyed it. Very good effects, brilliant martial arts, lots of gore. Story ok, even if a bit predictable, not a bad film.

tinkerbell 05 Jul 2010 00:44

The twilight saga - Eclipse

went to the cinema to see this yesterday, i enjoyed it but was alittle boring in places. Pity have to wait till next year for the follow up. Suppose i cud read the book. no ill wait.

Yes I like that bit too, but critics in the UK slate it.

Anyhow, seen the following this weekend:

Edge of Darkness (DVD) - very good - Mel Gibson is BACK! Film is a bit weird and doesn't quite involve you enough, but Mel is awesome and it's worth watching for him alone.

Twilight Eclipse (Cinema) - not bad, much better than New Moon. However, now I am a True Blood fan, this doesn't look like proper vampires to me ;)

i had you down as being a robert pattinson fan and screaming in a girly shrill every time he appeared on screen:D

to get back on topic, flicked on to the movie channel and watched terminator and then terminator 2

can't believe Arnie's salary for the second film was more than the twice the amount of the entire budget for the first

Hubby and I saw this at the cinema, and again on DVD at home, and still jumped a mile at the friend's accident!!!

AndyK 05 Jul 2010 22:52

Not watched a film in a while, but I'm living in one at the moment. My mobile signal reduced as I got further from London, I've been asked if it's true that a mans head will explode if it is shot in a specific area. Now I'm off to tend my peace lily, it's all for the greater good :))

It does have several moments of brilliance - like the swimming ones, and the experiment room! Also has embarassing moments of naffness. I also think Alien 3 is hugely under rated.

Cannot WAIT to see that film! Nolan is a genius.

Most recent film I saw was Surrogates, which was ok I guess, but somewhat shallow and predictable.

Mmmm. Cars is the only Pixar film I didn't like, so not bothered about 2 at all. Not a huge fan of The Incredibles either. But the Toy Story Trilogy, Up, Finding Nemo, WallE, Monsters Inc are all awesome.

AndrewG 06 Aug 2010 10:27

Inception.
Probably the most overrated movie I've seen in a long time.
It was ok, but The Matrix is better and has a much more plausible and satisfying story line in my opinion and MUCH more character development which is seriously lacking here. There are other films you can easily see where it is borrowing ideas from and they have seriously been overlooked and I personally wouldn't say they were any better or worse than Nolan's effort: "Existenz", "Open your Eyes"/"Vanilla Sky" and perhaps even "What Dreams May Come".

9.1 on IMDB apparently ranks this movie higher than classics such as Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas and rates it the same as Shawshank Redemption. I think that's an insult to cinema to be honest. Any joker could have "dreamt up" this movie in my opinion. It doesn't have anything specificially creative that I haven't seen before or hasn't been done better. It does appear to have a reasonably "good heart" and I can see it has been put together with a lot of enthusiasm and Dicaprio is pretty good so kudos for that. I would rate it somewhere around the 7 mark, which I think is beyond fair in amongst serious Oscar contenders such as Toy Story 3.
