I really do wonder why I wasn't a Springsteen fan earlier.

Glad you had a good time at the show Mel.

The live shows. You can't compare Meat and Bruce they're too different. Meat is still number 1 for me, but Bruce is amazing. I could never see what the fuss was about until I saw him live.

LucyK! 09 Feb 2014 12:52

The fuss is Bruce live. I rarely listen to Springsteen albums as they don't even come close to what he does on stage, I sometimes feel that his albums are just a formality he has to go through so he can get back out on the road!

Even his big 3 classic albums don't compare to when he does them live.

I found that with the albums before I went to the show, but the show was completely something else, and now I find the songs a bit easier to listen to.

Probably an artist I prefer to see and hear live stuff from.

Yes I was second to last row in the top tier (4th tier!), I got used to it but being so high, even the rigging was slightly in the way lol

I was second row from the very back of the LG Arena in Birmingham when I went to see Neil Diamond but thankfully it wasn't quite as high and steep as it looked from your photos.

Were the tickets back there much cheaper than the ones slightly nearer?

I always tell people that if they even like him on record, they will love him live. I agree with what Lucy said- he just loves to play. :-)

This explains why we love the live bootlegs so much. I listen to probably about half live vs. studio, skewed more towards live.

Well as far as a back row seat goes it was quite expensive, $132, where most of the time for a back seat you'd pay around $99. Most of the big bands seem to be around $132 for the "cheap" seats out here. I'm not sure what the people at the front and in the standing section were paying, but it was quite pricey.

The Rolling Stones are coming soon and their tickets were way too expensive for me to even consider.

I actually remember watching the people way down at the front getting excited and jumping around during the show and all my memories of how I felt at the front for Meat's shows in the UK.

I don't know what the ticket pricing was like in Australia, but in the U.S., the best seats and GA standing costs about the same as it does for higher up in the arena. It takes a bit of work to get those front spots, though; in Europe, people start lining up literally days before the concert. The arenas in the U.S. don't want to be responsible for people on the premises for days, so in the U.S. they use a lottery system, which still requires several hours of your time, and you still might not make the pit.

I did the European-style lineup one time, and each method has it's advantages. Both are totally worth it, IMO. :-)

Bruce's top ticket price in the U.S. is around $100.

The Stones prices were ridiculous here as well, but I totally lucked out with a pair of $85 "mystery seats" that ended me up in the pit. :D

It happened here that they adjusted prices closer to the show dates, as I assume tickets didn't sell at the higher price points- kind of a good strategy, actually, IMO. That's not to say they weren't still pretty expensive, but less so. Decent seats could be had for $125 or so. Maybe they will do something similar Down Under.

Just saw this- they are doing what they call a "Lucky Dip" for $99:

http://www.rollingstones.com/tickets/

Your show looks sold out, but keep checking back closer to the show date, because they released more $85 tix here, too.

Even if you end up with the worst seat in the house, it's still cheaper than the next cheapest option.

No, seriously, he did all of Born in the U.S.A. the first night, and Born to Run the second night, which is a good thing, because I think some people's heads might have exploded if he'd played BITUSA two shows in a row.
