Lol, he did a decent job. I'm like that when it comes to covers of my favourites, but he did good.

In other news, Barry Gibb is even praising his cover of staying alive.

BITUSA is a great album, and his biggest commercial success, but it's hardly his best album. Try Born to Run, and actually listen to the music, and the lyrics- any of Bruce's lyrics. I think if Meat sang some of his songs, people here would love them (note Prize Fight Lover). I could see a bit of swooning going on over this one: ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8qpTL1wxGQ

Besides, I thought it's not the voice so much as the presentation?

P.S. I just stumbled on a new upload of New York City Serenade from last night- Roy Bittan fans might enjoy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rCuL5QHp7U

Someone thought to buy me a Springsteen Greatest Hits CD and other than one song I didn't really take to it at all. I'm unlikely to be 'converted' by attending a show because to be honest, I'd rather save the money for something else.

On the positive side, that'd be one more ticket available for someone that really wants to go and will appreciate the show more than I will. ;)

LucyK! 27 Feb 2014 18:57

His albums are just no reflection of his live performances - I don't even listen to the albums as there's just no point! They're not a patch on the shows, which are inexplicable.

I listened to all his albums before my first concert. I like them but wasn't hooked. Especially Born in the USA. I hard BITUSA in full at Hard Rock Calling, never listened to it on the CD again.

Same with Darkness, got a decent Wembley boot, even that makes the CD sound like a demo.

My go-to for Darkness is a rip of the Paramount Theater DVD from the Darkness box. (There are a few songs from it on Bruce's Vevo channel) I doubt I'll ever listen to the original album again.

As for BITUSA, the bonus CD that came with High Hopes is very good.

I refuse to look at mine from the last tour. I don't even think I still have the Nottingham one because I hated it so much.

I'd like a new one but it won't be happening unless I get better at photoshopping them into my 'dream' photo. ;)

I know it well. :( Last Summer was pure torture for me- we got no shows at all last year.

The best cure is a new tour, which fortunately, we are getting this year! :-)

I would never consider Ryanair longhaul nor matter how cheap. Somethings are worth paying more for, air travel is one of those things.

I can't see Ryanair longhaul happening for a longtime thanks to the Middle Eastern airlines.

Realistically, I can't see it happening for quite a while and certainly not within a timeframe for Meat's residency.

Given my circumstances at present, I couldn't afford to be too picky. It literally would be a choice between Ryanair or not going to Las Vegas.

LucyK! 28 Feb 2014 20:37

Then choose 'not going' - I'm totally with Seb on this one, 10 hours 40 minutes on a Ryanair is unthinkable.

I heard last year about Jet2 starting flights to New York, not heard anything about Ryanair.

Sebastian. 28 Feb 2014 20:53

Yeah I'd choose not going, I can do Ryanair for very short Europe hopes, but nothing longer than 2 hours max. I'd take easyJet any day. I hate the airline with a passion the way they treat their pilots is disgusting.

Jet2 do apparently do Newark, but I've never seen it go. I think it's a summer thing, every blue moon.

AndrewG 28 Feb 2014 20:54

If you are willing to put up with rubbish service and being badly treated I'd say go and book the low cost airlines. For me I can't stand it anymore and only fly with KLM when travelling to my family in The Netherlands. Flew with Thomson last year and they were excellent too.
The stress of flying/travelling I think is too much to also have to endure rude childish behaviour and rules by staff of EasyJet and RyanAir.

The good thing about the low cost airlines is that has made the better airlines more affordable so perhaps that will happen with long haul flights as well.

I flew BA in World Traveler Plus to Tokyo, they were amazing and really surprised me. I'm a firm believer as well that if the airline offers a premium economy then it will always be worth the extra cost. BA's was amazing, great seat, great service and a fantastic crew - still pretty sure I could've bagged a free FIRST upgrade, though.

The Middle Eastern airlines are also amazing. Their economy products blow a lot of western airlines away, not to mention their premium classes.

I don't mind easyJet, they've become a much better airline over the years and at least serve airports on a map.

It'd be hard enough for me to find the money for an economy airfare these days (thanks LAB) but after getting an upgrade to First Class on Virgin Atlantic once, I'd do it if I could afford to. ;)

To quote someone on The Daily Mail's website once, people on National Minimum Wage have no right wanting nice things and should learn to make do.

LucyK! 28 Feb 2014 21:36

Jet2 are brilliant for European breaks - we did Rome with them (3 hour flight) and I'd have no hesitations doing it again. Ryanair I think of more as a bus that goes to Ireland lol

It sounds silly doesn't it?

Sometimes I wish that I'd have done less shows on LAB in the hope that the money I'd have saved would have kick-started my attempts to save up to go to Las Vegas but then again, I'd probably still have found it difficult to have saved enough to make the trip worthwhile.
