The Lincoln Lawyer - was pretty good, well it must have been pretty good 'cos hubby stayed awake throughout, but having just re-read the book, I wouldn't have cast Matthew McConnaughey or William H. Macy in it....

The Flying Mouse 27 Mar 2011 20:39

 Jo and I watched The Three Amigos on DVD on Friday night, then when we put the TV back on after the movie, Anna Nicole Smith - the opera, was just starting  (I shit you not).

It was acually bloody good.
I'm not a fan of opera sung in English (and Jo's not an opera fan at all lol) but we both really enjoyed it.
J Howard Marshall had the best entrance I have ever seen 8)

He came in on a giant stena stair lift

It was very well sung, and a lot of it was creally very funny.
I wouldn't mind seeing it live.

Sarge 27 Mar 2011 22:41

Le meurtrier - old crime thriller with Gert "Goldfinger" Fröbe
In Harm's Way - WWII movie from 1965 about the attack on Pearl Harbor, more drama than war movie and not as exciting as expected, yet better than Pearl Harbor
Thunderball - one of those classic Bond movies that are so much more entertaining than the Daniel Craig "Bond" flicks

allrevvedup 28 Mar 2011 17:16

Righteous Kill...

not the best of films unfortunately but for what little good there is in the plot is made up of Pacino and De Niro saving it.

Skeleton 04 Apr 2011 13:18

Rango

Wonderful film: funny and well animated. :D

Evil One 04 Apr 2011 13:24

Quantum Of Solace. The first time I saw it I thought it was an incomprehensible mess and my view hasn't changed. There are some good action sequences and there's probably a decent film in there somewhere, but the 'trendy' camera work makes it too hard to follow what's going on.

RoknRollJesus 04 Apr 2011 17:12

INCIDIOUS - right good scare! Great flick.

RANGO - very funny!

I felt the same way, but now each time I see it I like it more. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are awesome, and the action is amazing. But there's too much of it, or at least not enough of the nice slow bits which James Bond needs, and not enough humour imho. They are not action films and not Bourne films and never should be.

The Hangover

MeatGrl1 07 Apr 2011 02:06

YouTube Video

As a Julia Roberts fan, I might be biast but I like this one, it was on the telly again tonight and I thought, 'not watched the DVD in awhile so I'll watch it.' It's not my favourite of Julia's films but it's not bad either. You have to feel sorry for her character who's in a controlled marriage where she can't do anything incase it's wrong or seen to be wrong or she'll get a beating. Laura decided to fake her own death and for a short period of time it appeared to work till her violent husband spots her wedding band in the toilet, he then makes it his mission to find her.

Battybarb 07 Apr 2011 03:02

AndyK 09 Apr 2011 20:58

Alien 3

Somewhat miffed that the digibox didn't record Alien: Resurrection for me a few weeks ago!

PanicLord 10 Apr 2011 14:17

I think Alien 3 is very under rated. I've only seen the more recent special edition but thought it was excellent.perhaps some of the criticism is because it's a much less epic film than Aliens.

Resurrection has some classic moments but is so different in tone compared to the others and has some real dodgy moments that it doesn't quite work for me.

Sue K 10 Apr 2011 14:52

Velocity of Gary (Not His Real Name) ... starring Vincent D'Onofrio as a bi-sexual ex-porn star who dies of AIDS. I could never see what all the VDO fans were on about when they were gaga over how sexy VDO is in this film... I only saw stills and thought ... "tuh" and perhaps "uh oh" as well... lol ... however... one MUST see him moving about in this film to get it... if you're only going to watch because you find VDO to be sexy... as I do ... you will, too... I laughed a bit, I cried a bit... and have now watched it three times ... I like it... aLOT ... ...

Also who the hell told Peirce Brosen he can sing  ?!

BostonAngel 12 Apr 2011 08:53

Top Gun on late night TV. I admit I love that movie, even if people call it corny and cheesy, etc.

Sue K 12 Apr 2011 13:45

Happy Tuesday, meatie peeps !

Toy Story 3 ~ Husband and I totally enjoyed it and cried about a quarter of the time watching ... lol ... Need a therapeutic good cry ? Toy Story 3 is the one for you ... ...

 The Mist.
Good film 8)

tribrats 13 Apr 2011 20:48

Last movie I saw in the theater was Shrek 2.

I have a really hard time keeping to one thing at a time so even though Hubby and the kids have watched movies a lot, I think the last one I actually paid attention to was Secret Smile.

allrevvedup 17 Apr 2011 22:13

Scream 4...wasn't bad and it is worth seeing for the last 15 minutes alone but nothing in terms of the suspense and anticipation of the first film.

The American, a little slow but it develops into a really good film and well worth seeing, the more I see Mr Clooney's films the more I appreciate him as an actor.

PanicLord 18 Apr 2011 01:19

Quantum Of Solace - every time I watch it I like it more. Mainly for the acting (esp Bond, M, Mathis), dialogue, and travelogue style beauty shots. The action is awesome but still can't make half of it out due to bizarre editing. Also needs to take a bit more time between bursts of action.

Very excited about Scream 4. Loved 1 and 2. Mrs wont go though! grrr

meatfanforlife 18 Apr 2011 02:24

We watched that the other night, thought it was pretty good for a disaster/buddy movie.

BostonAngel 19 Apr 2011 22:48

Watched Repo! The Genetic Opera last night on YouTube. Actually watched it twice. I love that movie!

tribrats 19 Apr 2011 23:29

We don't have cable and haven't for nearly 10 years so all our viewing is through Netflix or disc.

Watched Toy Story 3 the other night. Very cute!

Saw Thor in 3D, it was fun but the ending is a bit rushed

Battybarb 08 May 2011 03:15

Saw Thor as well, thought it was ok

Hypnobabe 08 May 2011 11:50

The King's Speech - thanks for sending it early, Amazon!

PanicLord 08 May 2011 18:39

Thor - thoroughly entertaining. Well acted, scripted, directed. Only problem was it was a little predictable, but definitely a 4 out of 5 from me!

RoknRollJesus 09 May 2011 20:49

Saw THOR and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS yesterday.

THOR was fun.....totally got what I expected.
WATER FOR ELEPHANTS was way better than expected. Hal Holbrook is a gem!

MeatGrl1 16 May 2011 22:54

 CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW: I know those guns... It's the Pearl !
PRISONER: The Black Pearl ?! I've heard stories, she's been praying on ships and settlements for nearly ten years. Never leaves any survivors !!
CJS: No survivors ?! Then where do the stories come from I wonder ?!

Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl - Johnny Depp

Not seen this one in awhile so as it was on watched it again, it is very good LOL !!

Before that I watched; Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest with same people the night before

:cool::lol:

Sue K 31 May 2011 13:14

Dark House, I think it was called. It had a couple leap out at you scary moments that made me jump and giggle... lol ... and a twisty ending. I liked it well enough.

Jeanie 01 Jun 2011 03:54

The Rite... was ok, thought they wasted Sir Anthony Hopkins talents though, when it got to the core of the film.

Equilibrium - a Minority Report-ish type film, with Christian Bale, Sean Bean, Angus MacFadyen and the bloke who dismantles the bomb after having a punch-up with Bruce Willis in Armageddon.

From Dusk To Dawn - Tarantino and Clooney with tattoos... Yum yum....

Wonderful film, except the last minute. But it was much like the first Kung Fu Panda. :D

PanicLord 03 Jul 2011 19:50

Seen quite a few lately:

Transformers Dark Of The Moon - huge fun. Epic, funny, and Leonard Nimoy is AWESOME!

Monsters - very well made, but very little actually happens.

The Adjustment Bureau - thought this was really good. Humourous, well directed, and well acted - Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in particular really make you root for them. The good thing is the baddies are also quite likeable, but you still want the good guys to win.

MeatGrl1 05 Jul 2011 03:04

The last movie I saw was Edge Of Love with Keira Knightley, she nailed the Welsh accent.

True Grit

Sue K 17 Jul 2011 01:45

The Music Man ~ starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones ... I saw it when it came out in 1962 at the theater and fell in love with Professor Harold Hill and the whole concept and fantasy of the becoming of "the band" ... I sat in deja-vu~ville the other night as I sat watching it on the small screen. I just adore that film ... xo

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, having seen the very 1st film when it was released years ago, and then not seen any others ... and T'Other half hadn't seen any, we've seen the first 5 in a week, would have been the first 6, but somehow the OnDemand movie marathon exlcudes the Half Blood Prince and jumps straight to Deathly Hallows 1!

Knight and Day...well half of it, wasn't that impressed by it...i hear the other half is pretty terrible too.

allrevvedup 25 Jul 2011 15:55

The Guard, Brendan Gleeson & Don Cheadle are really good in it but otherwise it was a pretty poor comedy

Sue K 26 Jul 2011 18:24

I can't think the name of it at the moment, but it was a black & white starring Joan Crawford and, oh gosh I can't think HIS name at the moment ... lol ... but it was pretty good, about a woman falling for a man half her age. Mind you, I fell asleep half through and woke for the end, but not out of boredom. I was just tired ...
