AndyK 12 Jul 2007 14:48

A fat tax? What will they think of next?

LucyK! 12 Jul 2007 14:51

What will we eat if they do that?!

mszee 12 Jul 2007 14:55

If it's not an inside joke...what is fat tax?

LucyK! 12 Jul 2007 14:56

They're talking of introducing a fat tax which basically is a tax on fatty foods...the idea being that if they cost more we'll buy less and therefore have a thinner population...

:shock:

I think they took this idea from American way of taxing cigs...

They collect a VERY FAT tax on those...claiming that if cigarettes cost more...people will smoke less...uh uh...nothing but a scam for tax profiteering....

What are they gonna do about people who are heavy because of the drugs side effects, etc...tax them per pound of their fat???

They've done that for years here. Every budget sees an increase on cigs, booze and fuel. In fact, most of the cost of these things is tax, especially fuel, which is over TWO THIRDS tax. You 'Americans' have it easy! :D

But it has fruit and nuts in it!! Couple that with the fact that tobacco is a vegetable and you have 3 of your 5 recommended daily portions sorted out! :))

Actually...no...for all the taxes we pay we have NOTHING to show for it...at least you guys get socialized health care and decent pension...where our health system is way out of control now and we're running out of money for pension....

And by the way...with us...cigs and fuel is true...but for some reason booze is ok...Cigarettes kill...and fuel pollutes...but apparently booze is harmless...

I've said that for years lol.

Chips = potatoes = vegetables
fags = leaves = salad
beer = hops = vegetables

I could go on and on...
