The problem now is that it's been proved that a copy of the CHSIB vinyl can be found on Ebay...there's gonna be a war the next time one appears!

I need a bit of a help...something I've been wondering for a while and maybe one of you can answer...

We've got in my opinion the most annoying British export yet.

The girl is a host of You Think You Can Dance and her name is Cat Deeley...

What is in question is her accent...I mean...I've NEVER heard British accent like that...

Example...

He's yow Cheechees...

Huh????

This apparently means...here are your judges...

I am not kidding - this is truly serious post...this is how she talks...it appears almost like British accent for Americans...

Can anybody help me and let me know if this girl's accent is for real and where she is from in England? Of course, it is possible that she talks differently on British TV if she is ever on...

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 15:06

I'm sure Cat Deeley's from Birmingham or the surrounding area...

I didn't express myself right on second thought...what I meant was...is this a real accent and where it's from if it is...

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 15:15

Yes it's her real accent and she's from Birmingham (I think), so her accent is what we would call a "Brummy" accent

THanks...I guess I didn't meet anybody from Birmingham???

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 15:26

I can't think of anyone...I must say (and I apologise as this is purely personal opinion) that it's an accent that really bugs me. My muddled up North East accent isn't much better - and Mr Crook got it really wrong! - but the Birmingham accent can be really awful

I apologize too...cause I thought she is making it up for the benefit of Americans and it's not a real thing...

But she herself is quite annoying...so that doesn't help...

No, I think he's got "my brain is dead from all the drugs I've ever used" accent...

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 16:59

I've spent a lot of time in Birmingham, and I'm fairly sure there's not much of a difference ;) :p

RadioMaster 16 Aug 2007 17:00

while we're already on that subject:
I dont have much of a clue about british accents, but been wondering about that guy's accent for a while:
YouTube Video

what accent is that?

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 17:02

Sounds like he's from Welsh Wales! Where's Sean and Rhys when you need them!

RadioMaster 16 Aug 2007 17:03

but their accent is different isnt it?

LucyK! 16 Aug 2007 17:08

The Welsh accent is different to the English, yes

SamCat 16 Aug 2007 17:14

Yes they're from Wales and he's an english actor doing a welsh accent!!
