Bruce Springsteen, Wembley. Oh my God. What a show. 41 shots is amazing! But the highlight for me was to finally hear Tougher than the Rest.
|
I saw what's left of the Monkees May 28th !!! I had a fabulous time... The hits just kept on coming !!! ... Micky and Peter... sound great... have a great group of musicians backing them... There's a huge screen that playing videos from the show and from their lives ... It was a lovely trip down memory lane. I've been a fan the entire 50 years they've been around... Got lots of great photos !!! ...
I have a ticket to see Brian Wilson with the 50 years of Pet Sounds tour in September. Excited to see that, too !!! |
Just saw Dolly Parton at ArtPark in Lewiston NY. At 70yrs of age she can still sing great.
|
Marty Frigin' Stuart, Man that was some good Country Music.
|
The Who at Staples Center Los Angeles on May 25th. Awesome show!
|
Bruce Springsteen at Coventry and Wembley. Great shows. Coventry probably edged it for me as a more intense setlist without pauses and much better sound.
Coldplay at Wembley Stadium. Not a huge fan of their music but an amazing production. Lightshow with computer controlled light up wristbands stunning. Club Wembley is a nice upgraded area in the stadium if you have the chance getting a seat there. |
Just came home from seeing Kraftwerk in 3-D at the Hollywood Bowl and it was spectacular! Last weekend was ELO for two nights there . It also was spectacular! And now tomorrow is Black Sabbath also at the Hollywood Bowl. Can't wait!
|
I just saw the last night of Bruce Springsteen's 2016 Tour in Boston- all four hours and two minutes of it. :-) Unbelievable setlist for the hardcores- he played ALL of the epics. Well, except for Racing in the Street, but I saw that one two weeks before in Chicago, where I had incredible luck in the pit lottery and ended up front and center. I even got to tickle his Fender. ;)
In between those two, I saw Brad Paisley, which was a fun show. |

Bruce is a very decent guy and apreciates that people over here just let him be  |

Doesn't really fit into the same genre of music as Meat Loaf but my last gig was seeing Stereophonics in Manchester this summer.
Great gig, they are just an amazing band to see live and it was pretty bad that I knew every single word to every single song. |
Just saw "Weird Al" Yankovic in Bethlehem, PA last night and he really lived up to his name
He always puts on a great show, and it was a lot of fun. Thankfully I didn't have an aisle seat when he walked out into the audience to sing / interact with some of the ladies in the audience   |

Black sabbath. Unbelievable!

It was great though, Perth nearly dropped him during the crowd surf.... how embarrassing lol. |

You're right- longer isn't always better, though I hate it when I just miss a song I wanted to hear. It's even worse if I find out he had it on the set list, then switched it out for something else. |

The Piano Guys at The Royal Albert Hall.
Easily in my top 5 of best shows ive seen. So much heart, fun, laughter and talent. Probably only second time I've teared up during a concert. The end of second set with bagpipe players was just too much. Amazing Grace has that weird innate power whenever I hear it. It really does something I cannot describe. Out of the 4 concerts I've seen at RAH, Meat still reigns king but the Piano Guys are easily second highest. I've seen all my favourite artists at RAH. Very lucky and privileged. Sad London had another bad night. I hope everyone is and stays safe. I'm giving city visits and concert ticket buying a rest for now considering what is going on.:( |

Regarding cutting back on city visits and concerts, I suggest don't. No one should have to accept terrorism as an everyday occurance, or just a fact of the times we're living in, but you shouldn't let it get in the way of going about your everyday life, as best you can, and enjoying what you enjoy. Many big name performers wouldn't play over here during the troubles, but Meat did, time and time again, and the audiences always came, and always had a great time. But I've rambled off topic again. |
Whisper House with Simon Lipkin

Meat Loaf Last at Bat in London
A nice ride through memory lane  In fact, a reminder how damn lucky we, in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, have been. |
I saw Paul McCartney a couple of weeks ago. So hard to believe he's 75!
|
Bat Out Of Hell the Musical. Twice in a day. It's just incredible and dich a strong cast.
|
Bat out of Hell musical loved it .Seen it twice now.
|
Night of Johnny Hoes
One of the most important Dutch songwriter's would have been 100 this year. An evening with some of the best Dutch artist performing his songs. I am not a fan of Dutch music, but this was a fun event. |
Hey meatie peeps !!!
I saw Stephen Stills and Judy Collins Friday night a week ago... the Judy Blue Eyes for whom the Suite was composed... Oh... I had a most wonderful, nostalgic time !!! ... and yes, Stevie... too bad For What It's Worth is as relevant today as it was way back when ... love love love ...

Pretty sure my last show was Springsteen again, earlier in the year... Yeah don't think I've been to a show since Feb

Illegal Eagles due to see them again for the 9th time in a couple of weeks
|
U2 at the United Center in Chicago. My first time seeing them live. Great show! Their staging is very cool.
|
Well... On DVD, if that counts.
Nena - Made in Germany. Wow what an energy at 57. Superb show |
Quote:
Always liked Nena. Not many good female rockers have toured so extensively and consistently as her. Weird that outside of Germany (and part of Netherlands I guess) she is only really known for 99 Luftballons / Red Balloons and no one really knows she is really a rockstar instead of a pop has been. Really liked the Made in Germany song too. Cheesy but such a great patriotic fun song. And the absolute perfect one to start gigs of with. I think she should have kept it in her set for years. I've listened to quite a bit of her stuff over the years but yet to see her live. |
John Hiatt
For his age he still got a lot of fun on stage. UB40 They still sound great. Good show. Not really a fan of their new material though. Aha Never thought I'd ever see them live. Now I wish I hadn't. They looked very uninterested on stage. Simple Minds Great show. Never saw them live before but Jim Kerr has a superb stage presence. And still a fantastic voice. What a great band too. |
The Glen Campbell Legacy, feature several different artists but also Glen's children doing a career restrospective
|
The Muppets Take The O2 .... so shoot me, it was a great show :D:D
|
The Gas Light Anthem 20th and 21st July. Amazing. Such an incredible band. The entire '59 Sound live and more. Their supports of Matthew Ryan and Dave Hause really were brilliant as well.

I have been checking in now and then- very quiet around here these days. |
I'm doing fine ta, it has been quiet, but you should definitely pop in often, and keep us updated on what Bruce tunes (or others) you've been listening too!
|
Blue October. Such an awesome band. Can’t wait to see them and meet them in Dallas in October!
|
Quote:
Blue October “I Will Follow Tour” - Toyota Music Pavillion, Irving Texas. Dallas shows are very special to this band. This was no exception. |
It's been a good month, three of my very favourite singer songwriters doing shows very near, within days of each other...
David Ford, did pretty much a solo gig, just him, piano, 4 guitars, drums, harmonica, percussion, and his loop machine... absolutely superb gig, I'd forgotten how good he is on guitar. Foy Vance, Foy's full band, as part of his current tour, really enjoyed it, good performance Finally, Duke Special, doing a career retrospective... primarily himself on piano, the brilliant Ben Castle on saxophone, flute and clarinet, and the spectacular Chip Bailey on drums, stumpf fiddle, cheese grater and whisk, squeaky toys and general percussion duties, with some special guest performers... A magical 3 hour show!! Three fantastic gigs! |
Cinderella panto.. last show of the run
enjoyed very much |
Bat Out Of Hell The Musical in Düsseldorf 12/28/22.
Wasn't as good as it used to be.. Unfortunately. We gave our other tickets away. And that was a huge step for us. :/ |
Quote:
It never really looked good to me to be honest. It seemed very much like what We Will Rock You was like, one of the last shows I've seen (last year). I enjoyed that to a certain extent but the story had so many missed opportunities and stupid unlike Queen / rock things, it seemed too much like a panto and didn't get to the heart that we can hear in Queen's music in my opinion. It could have been so much better with a better, simpler message. The electric guitar reveal at the end and Scaramouche being able to play it made no sense. A simple: guitar is found and falls to dust but the characters realise rock is in your heart message and you don't necessarily need to play it yourself to enjoy would have fixed that. It seemed so obvious to me. The disconnect between the fantasy -metaphor story line, the timeless music and the audience just really sucked and to me it seemed from everything I saw from the Bat musical, that would be exactly the same. :-( I know people use the term "jukebox" musical to sort of defend why a musical doesn't have a decent story or connection. To me it's just an excuse not to go the extra mile to provide something that will be memorable and heartfelt, just like the music always was. Something like Back To The Future the musical has it for sure! A much, much better musical book writer with a better imagination at the helm, clearly. I'd rate BTTF the musical a 9 and We Will Rock You, based on the performance I saw, a 4 or 5 at best. |
duke special with chip on drums, and some guest performers
a brilliant gig as always, but the final song of the show was a tom waits cover, where duke invited some guests up And I don't know who the female vocalist was, but it was a ~~~~ing awesome performance, she owned that stage and sang her heart out. I have to find out who she was, and listen to more of her stuff. It was one of those moments where the decision was, if we don't leave now, we'll miss the last bus... but couldn't leave and missed the last bus |
Theatre production of Shawshank Redemption. Bloomin marvellous.
Mrs R was happy pointing out (many times) the naked prisoners at the start. 👀 |
Bruce Springsteen and the E-street Band - Edinburgh and Birmingham. Both in the pit, both sublime as always.
|
Papa Roach in Bremen. Wasn't as good as I expected. Jacoby sounded well, but they played all the songs that I personally dislike.
|
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Hyde Park (both nights)
Epic, rocking, superb. Excellent 3 hour sets. As good as I ever saw him at his best and really brought things full circle with a similar approach when I first saw him live 20 years ago. I found the random requests stuff disappointing at Wembley in 2016 (Coventry 2 days before was superb) as it made things quite hap hazard from what I remember. This was a far more controlled, professional, solid set with no stopping for almost 1 1/2 hrs into the main set on both nights. And after an emotional 15 minutes reflecting on age and life and leaving us with a brilliant message, he goes straight back into rocking. Absolutely phenomenal for Bruce's and the band members' ages. I hope he tours into next year or perhaps comes back in 2025 for one last farewell with E Street. But if this is it, he definitely left us on a high. A massive renewed interest in his music after that. Wow. |
Foy Vance with the Ulster Orchestra, Joy of Nothing 10th anniversary gig.
very good gig |
I saw Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets last weekend in Melbourne. It was mind bendingly awesome.
|
duke special plus special guests (1st dec)... brilliant gig as always
must've been near enough 3.5 hours of songs from start to finish. someone from the audience shouted out do a tom waits song, and he sung Martha :) final song of the night, a rainy night in soho dedicated to Shane MacGowan |
Illegal Eagles Chatham Central Theatre for the 14th time!

Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street band - Cardiff.
