The Future is bright, The Future IS Patti
|
Thank you !!!
It sounds fabulous . |
Excellent!
|
It is a mystery to me why a decent producer has literally begged stolen and borrowed all they had to convince a record company to record with Ms Russo.
As close to if not equal to the original version...the simplicity of it is brilliant, just a piano and Patti |
When we got our first listen of Bat III, I couldn't wait to hear Patti's voice on the "Future" track. Heartbroken that it wasn't there, hearing her voice on her own version of this song has been a dream come true. I agree with you, allrevvedup. This is not an industry I understand. I am a consumer, I have money to buy CD's and concert tickets , and I can't get enough of this woman's voice! How much more is there to the formula??????? But anyway, to Patti's future.........and to Patti's "Future!"

Absolutely Breathtaking! Thank You - Thank You - Thank you!
There has to be a recordcompany out there who is willing (and honoured) to release some of Pattis songs, I think! |
great finding - where you find it? Thats if you don't mind me askin :-)
|
No I don't mind you asking Ross ;)

Perfect!

oh and also when I think about it now... why the hell didn't Meat choose Patti to do the female vocals on the song for the album? after hearing ther amazing version of the song???
Any ideas why? Meat do you know? |

Clearly at some point she WAS slated to do the duet with him, according to his early posts on the subject and the recording studio pictures on .net. I wonder if it ever happened? If it IS out there and didn't get used, then what a costly......costly mistake that was. |
Out now to find a computer that does play it......
THANKS!!!! |

I do not want to bring old topics back, but after having Marion Raven and the girl from the bat3 tfawiutb, I could understand why Pattis has gone..
All in all, Patti's version is IMHO also amazing. Personally I like also the bat3 version, but I have listened too much to this version. I like songs which are not overproduced. |
As you all know Jennifer Hudson sang on the Future, she is a big,big star in the USA, Grammy winner, american Idol etc, this all equates to one thing.
The album will sell more units with Jennifer Hudson than it would have with Patti, unfortunately this is a pure numbers game, by the way they are both excellent singers. N |

Obviously Jennifer would have been chosen for marketing reasons, though the Grammy was not yet hers. In none of the interviews I saw or read about with her did I hear her mention any involvement on this album. With that as the intention, I hope I missed some where she did. I am so glad Patti's version of "Future" exists and has been made available for people to hear. |
A beautiful version, she really nails the "but it always does" at the end. Why she wasn't featured more on Bat 3 I will never understand. I hate that Meat let her get away. She's a great talent and somebody should sign her up. She's miles better than the talent contest show winners who get record deals.

Something is definitely missing on this tour...

I think "The Wrong Thing" with Ty Taylor and "The Vault" are better but this one is perfect too.

Maybe if all the new Bat 3 CDs have this sticker on them in time for the 2nd leg of the US tour it might just sell more than if the sticker said Patti Russo (no offence to Patti) sounds like a marketing mistake if this does not happen.
N |
Absolutely it's a marketting mistake if it doesn't happen, but it seems this album has been riddled with marketting mistakes from day one, so I wouldn't hold my breath in them getting something right in this stage of the game.

between promotion, single choices and some song choices we could go on forever about why Bat 3 hasn't sold as many as everyone assumed it would.
but hey it's old ground |
And anyway, Jennifer Hudson sung for bat3 before she has won the Oscar.
So that makes no sense to blame Patti |
I don't think anyone blamed Patti for anything

But ... I don't think Patti being used more on Bat III would have saved it sales-wise. Having had time to play the album more and more it doesn't quite hang together for many reasons not relevant on this thread. The future IS Patti, let's hope an album is in the offing soon, she above all deserves solo success. |

If the 'general public' doesnt care, the fans do. |

Agreed |
Several months too late. She was everywhere in the media leading up to the Oscars. The media has moved on for now until she releases something else.
|
I don't think using Patti anymore, would have highlighted the album anymore. Personally, I prefer Bat 3's version of Future, with Jennifer Hudson, but it all come down to marketing, and it did not work, just like CHSIB, a ba**'s up. :D
|
Marketting alone can't be blamed for the balls up, the public just didn't take to it as it was hoped, but that's another discussion for another thread.

I really like Patti's the future..
it is great.. C |
Always wonderful to hear that amazing voice, though I can't help but feel a little saddened to be reminded of what we're missing :(

'Someone' is definitely missing and very much missed from this tour :( |

Agreed, Aspen is great in her own right, but Patti was the one in my humble opinion
|
Oh and i gave a friend the link to Patti's version of 'Future' his comment was excellent, a cross between Blues and Jazz, and not many people can do that :D
