RadioMaster 25 Jul 2008 16:56

already planned to book tickets for Bonn a few weeks ago.
Anyone ever seen him live? Is he good?
To be honest Ill rather buy tickets for the oportunity to get an autograph than the actual show

AndrewG 25 Jul 2008 17:03

I listened to a few of his albums once but totally did not like it, even coming from an open mind as I liked almost anything related to Steinman and the people he has worked with, mostly in the 90s. Not sure what he's like live. Probably really good as he's amazing on the guitar that's for sure.

AndyK 25 Jul 2008 19:15

Saw him a couple of times on the Liars tour and I really enjoyed the live shows, Todd is an amazing guitarist and his "live" voice is pretty good too. Not too keen on his recorded work though, from what I've heard it translates to the stage better.

He struck me as amazingly gracious...so might be a good chance for an autograph...

I think I've seen some concerts here too...but I am a bit overbooked at the moment to see Rundgren...still sleeping on it...that and Alanis Morisette...totally on the fence about both...

AndrewG 25 Jul 2008 19:22

Interestingly you mention Alanis Morisette. I found her live totally awful, though her studio work is amazing. What a twisted world at times. Lol.

I had that feeling...that's why on the fence...

We can expect to either receive airline tickets in the post or should we collect them at the airport???

He's playing 8/16 (thats a Saturday) at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park .... some kind of tribute to the Beatles Sgt Pepper album, with Denny Laine (from Wings) and Christopher Cross (his big hit was "Sailing" ... also the song from that movie Arthur with Dudley Moore)

Collect them wherever you want to...I will provide food and lodgings...not enough? I will throw in transportation and a few pints...don't get greedy on me...

RadioMaster 25 Jul 2008 19:56

does todd ever mention BOOH at his shows in any way?
as its the biggest project hes ever been involved with...

He's not mentioned it on stage at all during the shows I've seen. Was lucky enough to meet him before the Manchester show and he briefly mentioned Jim ... literally saying "he'll be asleep at this time of day".

RadioMaster 25 Jul 2008 22:24

alright....actually wouldnt have expected it either

On one of our steintrips to see Tanz, JD (Jim's PA) was there and called Jim up on her batphone, passing it round so we could all have a few words. Jim sounded a bit groggy, so I said to him "you sound worse than I do!" (I was ill at the time). He replied "Yeah, well, I only just got up". I got the feeling it was the phone call that woke him. This was at about 4 in the afternoon for Jim ...

Dave

RadioMaster 28 Jul 2008 11:51

he has about my day-night routine then

mszee 28 Jul 2008 20:28

Mine too...

I am still puzzled by this hodge podge of people in the concerts...I've mentioned ours up there somewhere...add to this Bo Bice (AI runner up whatever season it was) and somebody from Foreigner - forgot who...

The line up in the States isn't clear to me...maybe British one makes more sense...

Heli 29 Jul 2008 01:33

:D Todd was fab last time! And Prairie and Jesse are wicked! Shame there'll be no Kasim and his pimp suits!

BjornParee 29 Jul 2008 09:07

For the concert in Eindhoven (Netherlands) I have bought a ticket. Still hoping to Kasim also on this stage. If not I'm sure I will have a nice evening.

MissAsh 09 Aug 2008 15:46

According to Kasim's journal, he will be back with Todd starting in October through the rest of the year.

Wish I could make it to the Edinburgh gig but I've already got other gigs lined up in Edinburgh and Glasgow two days before & two days after so no chance of getting the time off work.

RadioMaster 10 Aug 2008 16:39

nice one...

arlight, that was the last bit to convince me to buy tickets

Heli 05 Oct 2008 16:16

Just wondering, is anyone going to the Manchester gig?? Funnily enough non of my friends have heard of Todd, so I don't really want to be a billy if I go. :p

Sarahdk23 05 Oct 2008 17:51

I was gonna ask that! I tried to convince a couple of friends to go with me but they weren't convinced...and had unfortunately arranged to see one of them same day so couldn't get out of it!

Battybarb 14 Nov 2008 19:18

Jo and myself are going to London Nov 23rd..looking forward to it,heard that Manchester was really good except for poor lighting

The Flying Mouse 14 Nov 2008 19:23

 Won't be there myself, but sure you'll all have a good time.

Battybarb 25 Nov 2008 03:00

Went to The Forum last night with Jo to see Todd, what a brilliant show,i didnt know what to expect as i had never seen Todd before,he was fantastic.it was a small venue which was nice,Todds voice was on good form and the man has so much energy,it was nice to meet up with Deb,her daughter Sam,Andy and Lucy, other than the cold weather a very enjoyable evening.i am definately hooked and would go again..

Battybarb 25 Nov 2008 03:01

Also forgot to say Kasim was also GREAT.....

Sarahdk23 25 Nov 2008 09:36

Any pictures?

AndyK 25 Nov 2008 10:22

Got home and finally defrosted, have only been that cold at one other show in my life ... Romsey this year! Enjoyed the show far more than I thought I was going to having been underwhelmed by Todd's new album, the songs translated to the live stage much better.

I'm so used to seeing Kasim playing Bass when he's in a band that it seemed very strange watching him with a six stringed instrument, and even at one point a tambourine!!

Will get some pictures online somewhere tonight, assuming that they came out ok. The stage lighting wasn't the best ... even the press photographers in the pit stopped taking photos at one point as it was so dark!

I'm going to test the Pick of Destiny theory out tonight as well ... came away from the show with one of Todd's guitar picks in my pocket, so we'll see how using that affects my guitar playing :))

I didn't think that was too bad, mind you I had to camp in Wales in minus temperatures (in April?!) for Duke of Edinburgh so that has redefined my definition of cold!

AndyK 25 Nov 2008 22:40

A few pics from Sunday night, lighting was very dark so most of them didn't come out too well. Pictures are all on the large side, so I've linked them instead of embedding them to save you some time.

Monstro 25 Nov 2008 22:52

AndyK 25 Nov 2008 22:57
