Mini Monstro

All sorted today that Anji and I will have mini Monstro on the 17th of next month (four weeks away eeeek!!!!!).

As most people are aware we don't know the sex of the baby so we thought we'd have a bit of fun, guess the sex and weight. Easy to do, just post the sex and weight of the soon to be with us arrival and the person with the correct sex and closest to the weight wins a bottle of their tipple (if you drink malt you're screwed and you'll have to get used to blended lol). Tie break decided by who posted first.

Helpful hint!!!!!! Midwife measured Anji last week, first words out of her mouth was " big baby". Consultant measured Anji this morning, first words out of his mouth "big baby"

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit - lb's and ounces in this country where baby's are concerned lol

The Flying Mouse 19 Aug 2008 21:30

 Glad to hear all going well mate 8)

I have no idea what the hell a baby is supposed to weigh, so I won't put my foot in it and guess

However, i'll go with......

It's a boy

geordieloaf 19 Aug 2008 21:32

Boy weighing in at 7lbs 3oz. Didn't want to go too big and scare Anji!

djfierce 19 Aug 2008 21:35

well casey was 8lbs 13oz :p so anything below that is fine by me :)) so there ya go Neil you can have a realistic stab now hun ;)

So who do i have to thank for putting this idea in M's head?? :sherlock: ;)

Deb 19 Aug 2008 21:36

Jake says a boy and I say about..... 8Ib 5ozs

The Flying Mouse 19 Aug 2008 21:37

 OK, i'll go with a boy at 7lb 11oz

Deb 19 Aug 2008 21:37

Htf did casey weigh that much lol. she's tiny!!

geordieloaf 19 Aug 2008 21:37

Well i am sticking to my original guess although i'm now thinking BIGGER. My first born was 9lb 8oz and i didn't think it was that bad lol.

sexyeyes_jo 19 Aug 2008 21:38

mszee 19 Aug 2008 21:59

Geez, I just remembered last time I told somebody they would have a girl (which they did) they didn't talk to me for months...

AndrewG 19 Aug 2008 22:04

Anji & Michael,
I Hope everything goes well in the last few weeks but of course also beyond that for all four of you.

My guess would be a girl around 8 pounds. :))

samurai7 19 Aug 2008 22:07

girl, 8lb 9oz

AndyK 19 Aug 2008 22:25

Girl 8lb 10oz

And I still maintain you should have had a guess the baby's mother competition :))

samurai7 19 Aug 2008 22:26

yes, cos you'd still get people getting it wrong :p

djfierce 19 Aug 2008 22:28

firefly 19 Aug 2008 22:35

LOL... I remember those word's that the midwife said... big baby

anyway.... guessing by that remark i's say... 9lb 4oz and a boy.

Michael anything for the one who gets the closest to the weight...:-) lol

That's gonna hurt, might even rip her a bit and it'll be all your fault :)) Hope she doesn't need forceps or suction  make sure she has lots of drugs ;)

Thought the definite date would've given away the fact it's a caesarian, she'll have all the drugs she can handle lol

Some people use a date as an indicator of due-date and not a date of caesarian and even then the date of caesarian might be changed if the midwife thinks it's for the better.

What some Mothers don't realise with a caesarian is that it's major abdominal surgery and they try and carry on with everyday life after birth when they should be taking it easy. Make sure she takes it easy, NO DRIVING or the stitches might pop and you could be up shit creek.

Pud

Monstro 20 Aug 2008 00:47

All sorted already Pud, staying at inlaws for at least two weeks and I'm off work best part of a month

mszee 20 Aug 2008 00:48

Good man. Someone we know was driving 2 days after a caesarian and the stitches popped and she had to stay in hospital for a couple of weeks after that. All my kids were vaginal deliveries and it made me glad of being a bloke - OUCH!!! (legs-crossed)

How much paternity leave in the UK are you entitled to?

Pud

Monstro 20 Aug 2008 01:08

Two weeks paid, entitled to 4 more but they're unpaid, saved me holidays this year though and work are letting me work from home for a while

Battybarb 20 Aug 2008 09:04

All the best to you both..i hope you are gonna be there Michael so Anji has someone to punch..lol..

My guess..a boy 8lb 12oz

LucyK! 20 Aug 2008 10:28

It's ok pud, i know from last time what a caesarean can be like, had to have one with last baby cos she was too big for natural birth, this is why we're going straight to it this time, i was in labour for 27 hrs last time before they realised i needed a c-section, that and the other risks invloved with natural birth after c-section are too much to risk it.

Do feel a bit robbed of the birth experience though if i'm honest

LucyK! 20 Aug 2008 10:50

Really? It's so interesting that people feel like that whereas I'm the exact opposite, could handle raising a baby but I'd rather eat my feet than "have" it :?

djfierce 20 Aug 2008 11:00

lmao i used to be exactly like that Luce but it all changes when you actually go thru pregnancy and bring that littlun into the world...something just clicks inside you...kinda hard to explain really but only then do you find out what unconditional love is.
The trouble with c-section is not only the risks as pud says its a major surgery and there are lots of things that can ho wrong, the list of things i had to sign allowing them to do if it doesnt go according to plan is an eye opener lol, but the bigger thing for me with casey was i heard her cry, saw my partner go off with the midwife but it seemed forever before they stitched me back up and i got to see her face :( i guess that's where i feel robbed and also not being able to hold her/feed her properly for a while due to pain from the stitches.

btw i saw the way you looked at casey ;) you're not so against kids as you make out i think :p

LucyK! 20 Aug 2008 11:06

LMAO a person could be made of stone and Casey would still crack them, she's beautiful!!! We must send you the pic of her with her feet up and holding Chelle's mobile

I'm not dead against kids - worked with them for long enough - I'm just too selfish to have them!!! I couldn't cope being pregnant, the thought of giving birth makes me shudder...I think I think too much about everything I'd be giving up rather than gaining :? I'd be perfectly happy if someone made me a baby and gave me it, just don't want to "have" it

In saying that though *goes all serious for a minute* I'm saying that as a person who assumes that when/if the time comes I'll be able to do it all naturally and it'll be my choice, dunno how I'd feel if my "right" was taken away...

Let's just all get puppies

Boy 8lb 2oz

Hypnobabe 20 Aug 2008 15:16

Okay... I'm attempting to be scientific here...

Statistically, the older the father, the more chance there is of the baby being a boy, and second babies tend to be bigger than first babies... so my guess is: Boy, 9lb 2 oz... and I don't envy you carrying that weight around Anji! Luckily my two were both less than 8lb... just make sure you take the advice that's already been given with regard to taking it easy afterwards, let M spoil you!! Hugs xx
