That would actually give me a reason to watch that show, but I was thinking...
Celebrity Apprentice |

I don't normally watch reality shows .. but seeing Meat would definitely give me a reason to watch either AI or Celebrity Apprentice  |

There saying American Idol but in the past, there have been articles of Meat being in talks to be on Celebrity Apprentice. So I'm thinking it's CA. If it is AI then I would start watching it again, but I doubt it's that!
|
hes supposed to be touring in the fall. how is he gonna juggle this :|
|

Guess we'll just have to wait and see :-) |
CA would be neat.. i thought i reading he was relocating to NY, thus CA would be a good thought...
AI.. i don't watch it .. however i would if he was on it :) |

As much as I would like to see him in Europe ... on the other hand I am also thinking IF he gets a change like this, it may give him the change/freedom to get promoters to do it his way, for the next tour/album! But this is all pure speculation, so far .. and what do I know lol |
Quote:
Yeah it's all speculation, but fun to think about  |
Isn't American Idol broadcast in the spring?

Not a clue, apart from what Wario and Vicki said, I checked out their website but could not find anything. But one question I have also ...isn't there a thing like once a week judges on AI!? I cannot see this show in Holland, but as we are speculating, it could also be a guest-appearance maybe!?
Anyway, IF and I say If Meat is to be the next Simon ...I say The World Ain't Seen Nothing Yet - bring on Meat Loaf ...as he is as real as it gets and a true stand up comedian aswell (now being from holland - could someone help me with the spelling lol...I mean well!) ... and I truly believe he has a better change of getting what it is He wants, should he be doing this... Artistic Freedom is what an artsist wants, I think... |

I honestly have no idea about when it's on or how that would work about the guest judges Mariella .. I've only watched the show once or twice :-) Quote:

Hasn't Meat Loaf chagrined shows like American Idol for manufacturing artists? and the fact that the artists haven't 'paid their dues'
|
If I could manufacture an artist, I would not.
|
Just to add to the speculation
Another judge quit AI today. So 2 vacancies now. |

who quit now

-gasp- But I <3 Ellen.
|
Mm, i liked her, thought she was funny and odd in a nice way ! LOL...Will the show continue ? and if it does will i like it ? Dunno guess its a waiting game...
|
some other story going around about J-LO being a new judge
|
Saw on the news this morning that Steven Tyler is a possibility now too.
|
AI usually begins in mid January, with broadcasting try-outs, but it's not in real time. Once they get their finalists, that's when they start broadcasting Live. So I doubt that would work out in Meat's schedule.
|
i don't think it's gonna happen.....fox news had a pretty good write up and had 10 names you can vote for.....meat wasn't one of them....i voted 'other' and wrote meat's name in
|
Now it is being reported that Kara has been fired from AI:
http://www.tmz.com/2010/07/29/americ...n-tyler-fired/ http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/show...ican-idol.html |
Yes, the latest rumor is that Kara is out, Ellen will be replaced by Jennifer Lopez,
and they're going back to the 3 judge format, with Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith) taking over for Simon / Kara  Now that's an interesting combination :-) |

This seems a little too odd, 3 judges gone, can't see it meself..i like Kara, will believe it when its all official.
|
If I had a shot at the AI seat,I'd cancel the tours . That is a very important seat . Look what it did for Simon Cowel? I think Meat would be perfect for that seat.
|
They were just talking about it here about Ellen leaving and they said that the guy who left because he didn't get on well with Simon was coming back, don't know his name, and they didn't mention Meat.
Carole |
Lets be honest, Simon Cowell WAS American Idol and without him they can shove any celebrity monkeys on the judging panel and it won't be as good.
|
Meat has the talent, the longevity in the business, he's brave enough to say what he thinks and of course has that unpredictable artsy side too. He's sexy and sharp and AI should get on their knees and beg this amazing guy to take that spot.
he he Imagine getting feedback from Meat on your singing.:D |

what kinda makes me think I isnt meats thing is the show is about "hitting the right note" and stuff like that.
Meat's philosophy is you dont have to hit every note, just put on the best show you can possibly do. Dunno if that mindset will work for a AI judge. PS: Meats Philosophy is correct in every way. |
Simon mixed it up and did not always judge things by the same yard stick. Meat would do the same thing. I am pretty sure he'd recognize talent if he saw it. Recall Patty's audition.:D

The story about her audition is something like she auditioned and thought she had blown it, kicked something( something along these lines) and then ended up being picked.
I'm sure in Meat's stories it must be somewhere. I read it somewhere. |

I have seen Meat on TV and know he has some jitters . He he,I saw him on Sean Hannity and he was adorable. He did say what he thought ,politely.
I could never figure out what Sean was doing b/c all he did was end up telling him he'd not let his kids listen to Paradise. ( for Sean) He he recall Rosy O'Donnell show,he french kissed her and she said later she had to go to therapy. LOL That would have been my favorite fantasy the rest of my life. |

I read a lot of celebrity news just because those are hysterically ridiculous...I've never seen speculations like these...I know for a fact that Nigel Lithgoe is coming back but don't know if he is a judge and a producer or just a producer...rumor here has it it's somewhere between J-Lo and Jessica Simpson...
|
Also, all those fiings/ quittings came after Nigel announced that all judges will be fired and replaced with 3 new judges and 4 judge panel doesn't work at all...whether he meant it or not...Ellen quit right after he said it - not sure if she had other reasons for quitting...Cara should have been fired after first season in my opinion...

Simon is bringing X Factor here...that's why he left... |

The timing for Meat as an AI judge doesn't work out according to what we know of his schedule. Prelimary auditions for AI are going on know thru around the end of August. Hollywood week starts sometime after the beginning of January, around Jan 11th. They usually like to have the judges in place by then. Then the show starts airing sometime around the end of January thru May when the winner is announced. According what we know, Meat is supposed to be touring down under in OZ when the show is supposed to be airing. The speculation is fun. I do think he would be a great addition to the show. Time will tell

I agree Cowell pleases himself first and says what he likes. Imo he will say what he thinks of a performance, but phrases it in the way he thinks will have an impact in terms of the persona he likes to project. Imo Meat would say what he believes but would focus it on affecting the performer and the performance, rather than to project an image he was manufacturing. That would be his strength, but I suspect not necessarily what the producers would be looking for. I'd be surprised if Meat were attracted to this show, given all he has said about the current trends in the music business, about Cowell, and about the way programmes like this shove newcomers into the studio and the spotlight, controlling rather than developing them .. And I know Cowell is leaving the show, but my impression is that Meat finds the fast-track routing of manufactured popstars anathema, and unless he was leaving performing behind and switching to managing and investing in the long term nurture and development of other performers, this show seems to me unlikely to appeal to him. (Imo he enjoyed Popstar to Operastar because the contestants all had an established track record in the music business, and even then seemed somewhat frustrated that the producers just wanted him to fulfill a certain role they had in mind, whereas he wanted to give useful and focused feedback. His participation in Rock Camp last year was based on coaching rather than judging groups.) The principles of the show, its raison d'etre won't change with the addition of a judge who knows what music is about, has genuine talent, and an intuitive feel for and ingrained understanding of performance skills. Much as I love seeing Meat on any show, and agree he has the experience, knowledge and skill to bring something valuable to AI, I don't see how he could change the basic ethos of the programme without leaving performing behind and switching to a fulltime "impresario" role in an attempt to change the way the music business operates. It might well improve the business, and the lot of many new performers if he did .. but I prefer to continue enjoying his great talent as a performer, both on stage and in films :) Caryl |
but since he has been complaining about the promotion of his album in the states and the state of music currently he's decided that if you can't beat em, join em?
|
Think Meat is far too nice to replace a Cowell. Think the nasty Englishman works much better for the format in amongst the "word up, keep it real, you got it going on dog, ya moma would be proud, That was da bomb, I’m sorry dawg, it just didn’t work for me, You could sing the phone book!". Meat was a great laugh on the Opera star show but I feel the whole judging thing is a bit beneath him to be honest. Everyone is a judge these days, even interior designers! Especially the comments from the American judges on these shows are soooo cheesy in my opinion and is pure entertainment and drained from any from of help/third party observation. Don't like Idol at all, though X factor is watchable for me as it's slightly less rushed and hectic.

He'd be a wonderful and usefully constructive judge on any show of this kind .. if he were allowed to be, and not expected to play a character the producers wanted. But he'd be part of a fast-track to fame process he has spoken out against so strongly, so it would surprise me. Xfactor and AI seem to be based on: The huge "entertainment" of the auditions where people who should never be allowed to set foot on stage are encouraged to make asses of themselves Allowing people like Cowell to make money through exploiting the contestants who have short-term appeal, and perhaps (at no cost or effort themselves) finding a few with some talent, who are generally treated as a commodity Giving an opportunity to a few to enjoy a sudden, but not always lasting, fame as a popstar Giving celebrities (with varying levels of credibilty to pass judgement/offer advice) the opportunity to earn a good fee Continuing to enrich Cowell's bulging coffers as he conceived the shows None of these seem to me to have a fit with Meat Caryl |
and while i would agree with all of that, it's still 'the' programme to be on for artists to showcase their work or simply to remind people that they are still around.
Personally i think after making HCTB, meat doesn't need to top it in the form of anything else music related and could very easily establish himself again in films or a tv series. Lots of so called film 'stars' have come back to television and made bigger names for themselves, Kiefer Sutherland, springs to mind. but either way I hope meat does it because he wants to and not because he feels he has to. |
Now that I recall,I saw a clip of Meat on a British or Aussie show that compares to " so you think you can dance" . it was funny watching him and the others give feedback on the dancing. wish I could find that clip but it was one of those things you get when you surf youtube for Meat things and just happen to see it.

Then Jennifer Lopez was too demanding, so they're trying to find someone else in her place. |
