You can't even spell the year correctly.

The new album could come out late Summer /early autumn ish I reckon, at least if all the songs have been sorted out already. It's possible Meat already has everything booked with Cavallo, who doesn't seem to be scheduled to work on anything else at the moment except for a 78violet project I see on wiki. I predict the album will be recorded with most of the band members this time and less guests. At least that's what I secretly hope!

Touring. Hmmm. Really not sure. I think it is probably more likely to see a short UK/German tour towards the end of 2011 rather than dates added in Oz. But what do I know.

As for Jim's musical, I'm afraid we won't see it this year or in the rest of this new decade. :-( I blame the people he is surrounded by more than anything for that.

I'm all for that :)) Him touring New Zealand would be nice though, but I predict that won't happen...again :(

All the publicity regarding Meat and Busey will result in them making a film together. Meat will play Patrick and Busey will portray Schmedrick. It will be an action film in an amusement park filled with thrill rides.

Maybe not in 2011, but with Jim's direct involvement it all falls upon him. He's had years to get this right. Anyone else is a hired hand. If it does begin and it flops that is Jim's baby.

My predictions:

* They will film a concert dvd of an upcoming show and a backstage documentary that accurately reflects Meat's legacy.
* Meat & company will continue to perform awesome shows throughout the year.
* The new album will feature great songs along the lines of LOTO.
* There will be new Meat/Patti duets where Patti actually gets to SING (unlike LBIL).
* We will get to hear these new duets at the concerts. (We haven't seen a new live Meat/Patti duet since CHSIB in 2003.)
* The new album will get the reception and respect it deserves this time around.

GDW 23 Jan 2011 04:18

15 June 2011. Bat Out Of Hell re-enters the charts at Number 1. Just beating Hell In A Handbasket at Number2.
22 June 2011. MLUKFC members start a new campaign to get HIAH to number 1. Evil One buys the last remaining CD at the local Record store, pushing HIAH to Number 1.
Meat Loaf gives half of all album sales profits to MLUKFC to be equally shared.

Lol, the evil one prediction will probably happen at some point today. Interesting that you said you won't be touring the UK but not Australia. Good news for Australians I say. Still they need something to cheer them up after losing the Ashes. Hey if you're going over there how about filming with the MSO again?

Lol, Wario wets himself, my bet is on that one, & the evil one prediction, is that Patti does more than 2 duets in relation to Hell in a handbasket or a 2011 tour?

I hate that DVD !!!! It was released in the 8o's for s a short while. Then the contract expired. The Co. that made it sold it (did not have the rights to do so) I went in to litigation , made them stop selling them in stores and ship product
to me to me . I tore them up !! It will not come or somebody will get sued . I will not be as kind this time.

 That's a shame
I know you don't sound your best on some of those songs, but (call me crazy here) the rawness gave a whole new perspective on some songs. Most notably on I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us.
It's part of your history, and it's a shame that there will be future fans of your music who will be denied enjoying that performance.

Can you add one more prediction please?

There will be a single on store shelves to promote the single. The record company didn't want it, but Meat said "bite me".

Sarge 23 Jan 2011 19:56

I agree with Evil One and The Flying Mouse. There's not much footage from that time available and many fans find it interesting, especially those who didn't have the opportunity to go Meat Loaf shows then. I'm glad I picked up a VHS on eBay some time ago. I have been looking forward to a re-release on DVD, I like that concert better than 3 Bats Live.

Just out of curiosity: Meat, what does make you dislike some of your early work that much? Is it the financial aspect, the circumstances in which something was created / released or is it a general dissatisfaction?

I bought this about 15 years ago, when anything else live was just extremely hard to find. I thought that the opening (Bat) was just epic, along with All Revved Up and Promised Land. I guess I understand why you don't care for it, but in the absence of any other material available it was incredible at the time.

I would really like it to be re-released, but if you genuinely hate it please release something live from your vaults that you're proud to have done. The only reason there are so many bootlegs is the dearth of officially released live performances - just evidence of a hugely untapped market.

sad we wont see a rerelease of it. but its great to see '82 being viewed as the crap year it was. Too many slurred words, beer, drugs, money loss, and probably my least favorite NLE line up ever.

Do you hate Bad Attitude Live? Thats something that you should be very proud of.

Yes, Bad Attitude Live is better but if I had seen only the very good stuff, I'd probably be less interested in Meat Loaf. It's the ups and downs that make him interesting and I admire how he tends to fight and improve after periods in his career that didn't go very well.

I agree. BUT...

Their are obvious reasons he doesn't want wembley '82 released. If I were him I wouldn't either. the three tracks after IGLHFBOU are painfully sad to watch.

You could argue its similar to the Rockpalast DVD.

but Before meat releases his mediocre concerts, he should first release his better concerts ;)

I would'nt be too bothered if READEM AND WEEP WASNT EDITED OUT :(

I agree - the self destruction, the stuggle with the voice, and ultimately the triumph over adversity - is what makes Meat Loaf just so compelling .

Its the greatest career in Rock & Roll and yet simultaneously the most unfulfilled, or even tragic.

I just watched the Dortmund '81 show again. A lot of people think it's the worst televised Meat Loaf concert ever but maybe our generation is just too censorious? The people in the audience don't look unhappy at all, you can see Meat crowd surfing (!!!) and battering mike stands - that's rock and roll!

Evil One 25 Jan 2011 21:21

It is the worst televised Meat Loaf show ever! Meat's pissed as a fart, slurring his words and generally making a mess of things. This is one show that should never see the light of day. Wario said Pam Moore once told him that they also played I'm Gonna Love You For Both Of Us and I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back that night. Think how bad those performances must have been, for the TV bods to air Let The Revels Begin and that Two Out Of Three  instead.

Sarge 25 Jan 2011 21:29

Some parts are indeed unpleasant to watch and Meat needs a looooong time to get going but the crowd seems to like it, so it can't have been as bad as you perceive it when you watch it on your TV. I'd rather have gone to that show than to the 2007 concerts.

Evil One 25 Jan 2011 21:34

But being in the crowd for a show is totally different to watching it back on the telly. As other's might say, you get caught up in the show, whereas viewing it back it is easier to pick fault.

Back on the topic of this show, it was probably not aired in order. Remember Meat usually started with Bat Out Of Hell back then.

LOL - I love it. Thanks for the predictions. I think #3,#5 and #10 absolutely will come true. Unfortunately #8 will probably come true. I canonly hope that the rest come true as well.
And my predictions for 2011 are:
A tour of Austraila & New Zealand for all my friends and fans over there
And yet another US tour.
Looks like 2011 could be a great year
