Who do you miss most from the NLE?
The recent STeve B thread got me thinking this.
No poll, as theres far more then 15 choices I miss Steve and the Goffs the most |
Bob Kulick and Steve Buslowe. Never been replaced as far as im concered. No disrespect to the members who followed them but they were amazing players who i enjoyed watching and hearing.

As for the Goffs. For me they were eye-candy. Perfect until they started opening their mouths  |
I know she hasn't been gone that long, but I already miss CC! Of course some one with the screen name ccfan would say that! Hey, YOU asked - LOL
|
Bob Kulick.

Patti and Paul are still there so no-one  !!
Oh wait I miss not seeing CC, it seemed wrong being she was at every show I went to prior to Wembley and Newcastle last year ! |
Mine's based on the band members that I've actually seen live who have left, not sure I could "miss" people like the Goffs because I never saw them. So based on the NLE line-ups I've known - 1996 onwards - the person I miss the most is Mark.

:lmao: he's getting inside your head Luce!
Musically either Bob Kulick or Mark Alexander. For enthusiasm on stage Steve Buslowe. Eye candy .. .I'm taking the fifth! Other than that Alan Merrill or Brian Chatten are both great blokes and on a personal level they're missed. |
Nobody ... as long as Randy, John and Patti never leave :-)
Although I admit it did seem strange not seeing CC up on stage in Dover. |
I miss my little girl Aspen. :(
|
Oh Jesus I'm turning into Wario...I seriously need a holiday.

Over the years the NLE has lost many long standing members at one point or another (Steve Buslowe, Bob Kulick, Wells Kelly to name three) and survived, Mark and Kasim leaving last year was a blow to the band yet we're witnessing one of Meat's most succesful tours for at least a decade. The change in line up has over the last 30 years led to changes in the live show arrangements, sometimes for the better and rarely (in the long term) for the worse. IMO End of the day, whilst the NLE is an important factor in the live show recipe they a backing band. You can't compare the NLE band members leaving, to (for example) Keith Richards or Charlie Watts leaving the Rolling Stones now that's an event that would signal the end of that band. |

I don't miss anyone. I think the band is perfect right now.

She is indeed a nice lady, but her absence doesn't affect the quality of the show. Some songs like Boneyard sound much better with Patti & Justin's vocals, same with LOTO. |
Some former members shined brighter than others. Pat Thrall comes to mind. I'm not really sad about any of their departures because the current NLE is so great. I wouldn't change a thing.
|
Why are the Goffs always referred to as one entity? I guess because individually, neither one was impressive. Neither Amy or Elaine is a strong vocalist or actress. I thought all the female vocalists in the 80's were rather unimpressive.

I think they sounded good. And looked even better  |

Goffs sounded great inho. Amy on DRFL and Elaine on paradise really had some great chemistry with Meat.
I dare say Elaine in some aspects is the best counterpart meat has ever had. |

No, Karla was great. I thought she had believable chemistry with Meat. |

Her voice wasn't a killer either IMHO and the chemistry seemed forced. |

I guess everyone looked a bit strange in the 70's- the hairstyles and odd clothing. |

I think it was just strange makeup. In recent interviews, I think she looks better now than she did when she was younger. |
Oh, Choices!
Well, y,all know my #1 miss. However, I do believe that Patti was/is the most talented singer/actress Meat has ever worked with. She is style with a capital "S". Also, miss Jimmy as Meat seemed to truly enjoy his presence. If you can stand one more opinion...Mark Alexander is one heck of a pianist--rock...ballad...whatever. Chopped liver does not come from the Eastman School of Music. So there, as always IMHO. Oh,I forgot one--Bobby Kulick - he always seemed so much fun (besides the musicianship).

Really though, why are we all wasting time looking back? The current band is perfection and there is a new album and tour on the way. We should be looking forward and celebrating.
|
Why Look Back
I guess we are looking back here because this is the location where we do those things...Lost Boys, etc. Anyway, it is a hobby of the "ancient and afflicted" to spend time in reminiscence (sp?).

Because for me it's always been Meat Loaf and his band rather than Meat Loaf THE band, I've always expected there to be changes in the line-up over the years, and the current one is so phenomenal I wouldn't change anything either. John has always been superb, the guitar line-up is exceptional, Dave on sax makes a superb addition, and to me Justin is simply the best and most electrifying pianist I've heard in the NLE. Caryl |

May be its a generation thing |
Top of the miss you list - Steve Buslowe! I 've missed Steve since the day he left, no one has come near to being able to replace him! I saw him for the last time at Loreley and even though there have been great shows since, I always hated seeing Kasim up there in his spot. But then I never liked Kasim - not sad that he has left1

Is there anyone who dislikes Kasim, who never saw Steve Buslowe? :bleh:

Kasim was brilliant, good BV's too!
I love the line up now! If i'm honest, my favourite NLE line up was the 93 - 96! Loved the 'NY Beacon theatre show' soooooooooo much!! very powerful!:D |
