I can proudly say that I was here before the Red Pony was.

The version of Lemon from this concert is hands down my favourite. Meat's falsetto in the middle is insane, and I love the synth solo. This is where the Live Around the World recording is taken from, isn't it? Sounds identical.

I'm not entirely sure why it was necessary for Patti to wear as little as she was during Took the Words, but...who am I to complain?

Evil One 15 Oct 2012 14:28

Yes it was.

Elijah's way 15 Oct 2012 17:06

Why is this not on DVD???

 Proof (if it were needed) that the Lemon is the mightiest of all fruits

This should be on DVD.

Meat said in one of his FB Q&A videos that it was up to VH1 and whether or not they felt there would be enough demand for it :(

Because then it would open up a storm of comments about the content/quality/artistic direction and would be deemed wrong. :)

DJLeen 15 Oct 2012 19:19

It's an awesome concert !! :D

Benny 15 Oct 2012 19:22

That's my favourite recorded concert. <3

Sarge 15 Oct 2012 19:49

Just out of curiosity, can someone tell me which concert it is? I get the usual "not available in your country" message.

The Flying Mouse 15 Oct 2012 19:55

 Live At The Beacon. Welcome To THe Neighbourhood tour.

Sarge 15 Oct 2012 20:07

Thank you. That was indeed a great show. It's a pity that the TV broadcast was rather short.

If they bundled it together with some of the other shows they owned then I suspect there would be enough demand.

It would be a great bonus dvd with the second storytellers DVD if the new one will be filmed that is

Hell yeah, that would be amazing!

Wario 15 Oct 2012 22:36

this DVD would rock with the extended show that includes Midnight, revved up, DRFL, and what you see

That would be ideal. The two 1 hour shows of the Bat 2 tour and this show would make a great set, and the running time would likely fit on 1 DVD considering there were commercials. Or add the Hard Rock Live show and have 2 DVD's. It is a crime these shows are not on a commercial DVD. I still have my VHS copies. I suspect the fact that Viacom would have to be cut in is a factor. Not like something worked out between Meat and a distributor. I know the Donna Summer show made DVD, so it is not unprecedented for VH1 to do this. Although VH1 now exists in name only compared to what it was.

This begs me to ask, how did the bat get the name bob?

Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Forum Runner

Cherry.Loaf 16 Oct 2012 10:37

Sat down and watched all that last night it was really great! Just curious though what show was the extra version of AFL and Paradise from?

Evil One 16 Oct 2012 10:50

Night Of The Proms

Wario 16 Oct 2012 21:07

evil one keeps taking the words outta my mouth XD

To be ultimately truthful, this 1995 is probably the best "proshot" of meat I think.

First goes this, then Bad Attitude Live.

The '95 show was great, but the 1993 show with the incredible versions of "Objects" and "IDAFL" is tough to beat. "Objects" from that show is the most moving and emotional performance I have ever seen. The passion just crackles from the screen and Meat ends the song in tears.

spectacular, stunning, magnificent, passionate, amazing, beautiful and breathtaking would be my understatement of this performance of this song

this is yet another show i'd love released on dvd... i'm a greedy ~~~~~~~

That is it. Absolutely stunning performance. The whole show was fantastic. They did a second hour that aired later that was just as good, except they edited "Bat" down to half the song. Presumably the whole concert is wasting away in a vault somewhere, probably has a couple of songs that never aired. I would love to have it digitally remastered on DVD.

Wario 17 Oct 2012 23:49

I love these kinds of threads :)

Now that version is stunning I love it to death... but then theres this with Jim on piano which I think blows it out of the water :D:

YouTube Video

duke knooby 18 Oct 2012 00:46

another amazing performance, but the beauty of a live recorded meat loaf show is the addition of the visual performance... and thats whats takes it so often to another level (in my opinion)

and if lucky enough to actually be in the audience... an even higher level!

They are both great. I don't think either blows the other out of the water. I prefer the '93 version because it is on video and the emotion just translates so well visually as well as vocally.

"blowing it out of the water" was an exaggeration and I apologize.

They both are like two prime examples of meat at his very best. I dont mean just that. Those two recordings are the best live vocal performances ever recorded on anything in the history of ever. bar none.

No need to apologize. You also gave a great example. If someone wanted to see an example of what I believe is Meat's unique ability to inhabit a song as a performer and interpret the lyrics this is what I would show them.

Evil Ernie 19 Oct 2012 21:19

This is the best of ML. It's where everything was hitting on full cylinders.

He was in top physical shape, Off of excessive drugs/booze, his voice was the best it ever and was and he was on top of the world with a #1 Hit and Album.

Oh, and he still hd long hair. Short hair sucks.

Evil One 19 Oct 2012 21:40

Long hair on old men looks ridiculous

CarylB 19 Oct 2012 22:08

Say on mature men, older men, men over 50 .. and I'll agree with you wholeheartedly ;) There's nothing quite so sad as an older man trying to look like the oldest swinger in town .. Stringfellow take note!

I think Meat judged the time to change his hairstyle perfectly, and looks all the younger for doing so.

Blimey, is late 40s considered old then? I thought it looked okay tied back in the ponytail!
