Missing tracks and rarities box set???
All this talk about Bat 3 and singles and B sides....
Wouldn't it be great if Meat would release a rarities box set. :D These are songs I can think of right now that could feature on there. Time for Heroes Decadent Wish Let it Be Come Together Oh What Beautiful Morning Lawers, Guns and Money (Live) Lost Love (from the MATLAF era) Somebody Loves Me (Gershwin) Stand by Me Thrashin Original More than you Deserve single The Free for All songs... Unsaid + probably countless of recordings/outtakes I don't know about. Any other suggestions? |
If Meat releases an album, I'll buy it!
But your idea sounds like a good one, maybe he'll notice next time he's on and we'll all get lucky!!!! |
Maybe include some Popcorn Blizzard stuff, eh?
|
Don't forget
Take A Number and Revolution Per Minute |
You talked about Heroes, do you know on which album it was released? I got it, but just from a rock-compilation.

On the one hand, I would say that it would be great to have many of those songs, remastered and all, on a CD. For example, I would be thrilled with a Stoney and Meatloaf CD. But on the other hand... what about all those people who spend quite some time and money tracking down singles and stuff? I'm at a point where I can say that the only two tracks I'm missing a hard-copy of are "Thrashin'" and "The Way You Do The Things You Do" from Stoney and Meatloaf. Releasing a collection of rareties (and I'm not saying that such a thing should not be released) would, for me, take away the warm fuzzy feelings of having an (almost) complete collection. And yes, maybe that is a bit selfish, but still a valid point from a collector's point of view. To the best of my knowledge, all the "rareties" would fit on one single CD, two at most. To make a rareties box-set really special/worth the money, I would expect some vintage live-performances, demos, outtakes, and a bonus DVD featuring a full, uncut concert. And speaking of DVDs, when is one coming out with all the video's (1977-2003)? |
I think, 'Back to Sorrento', (a duet with pavarotti) would be a great one to include, or even 'Heaven can Wait' with Pavarotti.
|
He did heaven can wait with pavarotti???? I've only heard come back to sorrento!!
I bet it's ace! Is there anywhere you can get that from ?? Chloe |
Meat did a duet with Pavarotti???

It was at the Pavarotti & Friends Together For The Children of Bosnia concert. The concert was released on CD and video in 1996.

If Meat ever did cut A Date With Destiny in the studio I would love that to be on a rarities box set. Any cuts that didn't finally make the albums would be great to hear and some out-takes thrown in would be fun too.

I think a rarities cd would be a great idea, theres certainly enough compilation cds around containing all the songs we already have on other albums that we don't need anything more like that, but yeah a collection of rare tracks is exactly what we need.
I'm still searching in vain for a cd version of the remix of Midnight at the lost and found single version, I have the original 7 inch vinyl but it crackles so much now that its hardly playable, so I'm desperate for a decent MP3 of that if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. |
I'd pay anything to hear Bette Midler's demo of Heaven Can Wait
|
Would be interesting ...
|
I've heard most of those ...
If there were some more. That would be kickin' |
Meat did assent to a boxed set over at .net, if that helps.
What it will contain could be a whole different story, though. |
where can i get a copy of thrashin?
|
Thrashin' can only be found in the movie Thrashin'. No separate soundtrack was released.
You can find the movie quite easily on DVD (region 1 only) on the internet (Amazon, eBay). |
what about,
Take A Number and Revolution Per Minute are they movie soundtracks too? |
Nope, they were B-Sides for singles released in the 80's
Take A Number was the B-Side for Modern Girl R.P.M was the B-Side for Rock N Roll Mercenaries. |
know where i could get them or download from?
|
Take a Number is the B-side of the Modern Girl single, and RPM is the B-side of Rock N' Roll Mercenaries.
Neither have been released on CD afaik. (oops, missed page 3 there) Tracking down the singles looks like your best bet. AFAIK they can't be downloaded legally. |
i know of these.
Stand By Me Clap Your Hands Bat Out Of Hell (Live Wembley Arena 1982 TA3748) Don't Look At Me LikeThat (Alternate Version) Fallen Angel (Remix TA3748) If You Really Want To (Remix 12 inch WA 3357) Lost Love ( WA 3357 Non Album Track) Midnight At The Lost & Found ( Remix TA3748) Modern Girl (Freeway Mix ARIST 12 585) Modern Girl (USA Remix FS603) Nowhere Fast (Re-Edit ARIST600) Nowhere Fast (Extended Re-Edit ARIST 12600) Piece Of The Action (ARIST 12 603 12inch Remix) Piece Of The Action (Remix Edit ARIST 601) Razors Edge (Remix Edit A4080) Razors Edge (Remixed 12 inch TA4080) Rock 'N' Roll Mercenaries (Exploded Mix ARIST 12666) RPM (Extended ARIST 12666) RPM (Single Edit ARIST 666) Take A Number (Extended ARIST 12585) Car Trouble (from the Julie Walters movie) I have all except Car Trouble as original vinyls copies, for the most part mint condition, i used to record all my vinyl to cassette and play the tapes and store the vinyl, how anal was that lol. Still mint vinyl worth more than crackly vinyl. |
I don't know the last two songs :( :??:

Rare Tracks
I have the 'Car Trouble' soundtrack on vinyl, although Meat's song "Car Trouble... Hearts On Fire!" isn't exactly the best thing he's done...
Also there's the interview on the B-side of the 12" single of "Read 'Em & Weep", and the four tracks on the Live in Europe '82 12" EP that was released in the '80s. That featured live versions of "2 Out Of 3", "Took The Words", "I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us" and "Dead Ringer For Love". The US remix of "Modern Girl" is on the 2CD "Very Best Of Meat Loaf", first issued in '98, but reissued in 2003 with all the same tracks, but shuffled about. I personally prefer the album version of Modern Girl, and am not really a fan of the bass-heavy US remix. There's a nifty little remix of "Razor's Edge" that was released as a single in '84 with "Paradise..." on the flip, which frustratingly fades during the play-by-play. I know that the CD "12-inch Mixes" claims to feature the remix of "Razor's Edge", but it is in fact a lie - it's the album version on there. The only way to get the remix is on the single, which is along the same lines as the "Midnight..." remix from the previous year. On i-Tunes UK, you can buy & download Meat's version of Stand By Me (complete with that really weird vocal effect in the middle, which, frankly, puts me off a tad.) Also, you will be pleased to know that "The Intergalactic Touring Band", featuring Meat Loaf singing "Keeper Keep Us" has FINALLY been released on CD. I got mine from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Movie-Mars-UK about a month ago. Also, the tracks Meat sang on Ted Nugent's "Free-For-All" album in 1976 are worth getting, as well as the original LA Roxy cast album of The Rocky Horror Show, which has Meat singing a different version of "Hot Patootie" called "Whatever Happened To Saturday Night?" AS WELL as the song "Eddie", which in the movie was called "Eddie's Teddy" and was sung by the Dr von Scott character (Meat played both Eddie and Dr von Scott in the stage version.) I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I hit 'post', but this should give you all something to do! :D |

As a shameless plug, I could also point you to my website, but I won't ;-) |

I don't actually have the EP, but I do have a bid in for the clear vinyl version (Irish issue) on ebay. You may be right. I know that 'Stand By Me' is on the 12" single of "Nowhere Fast", but on i-Tunes it's a digital source, so the quality will be better than a 'convert' from vinyl. And it's only 79p!!! :D As for the website plug - hey, it's business! :D |
US - 7" vinyl - Promo
What's It All About? (Rare US promo-only interview 7" produced by Presbyterian Church public service broadcasting for their exclusive use, features an interview with Marvin Lee Aday, hosted by Bill Huie, with extracts of some of his hit recordings, broadcast January 1979, b/w Steve Martin Interview MA1574) I picked a copy up for Ģ2.50 at a car boot sale. |
