Live around the world.

If you have not yet got this album I suggest you buy it because it is brilliant!

Best of all, all the song's on it that are on the MSO DVD sound so similar, and shows Meats voice just gets better.

ChloeLee88 23 Apr 2006 02:45

I agree i bought this 4 years ago....i love it, it's awesome and the version of Two out of three and rear view mirror are breath taking

As is Frying Pan and For Crying Out Loud. It's just a fantastic album!

Diane 23 Apr 2006 03:24

Think this really belongs in Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts so I'm moving it over there.

Apparently "For Crying out Loud" is just a soundcheck version on this album according to Meat as he did not perform it fully between 78-04. They must have dubbed some audience sounds to make it sound as if it was live.
I did however see "For Crying out Loud" mentioned in some set lists from the Best of tour in '99. These must have been only partly performed versions then?

I'm not sure about the Very Best Of Tour .. but I heard he also sang (at least part of it) during the Storytellers tour in the U.S. :-) I just wish I had been there to see it.

CarylB 23 Apr 2006 11:28

He sang the whole song at one of his Stirytellers concerts in Florida .. It was breathtaking, and at the end there was a moments silence before a thunderous standing ovation .. which must have been similar to when he performed it at that convention so long ago ..

A magical moment that's as fresh now as it was then for me :)

Iīd like to buy Live around the world, but in a user review on amazon somebody wrote that it is good, but the album "live!" is better. I donīt know any of both. Can You help me?
Which should i buy?
R.

AndrewG 23 Apr 2006 21:32

I would imagine "Live!" refers to the 1987 live album, which is pretty good also. I would advise getting "Live around the world" if you had to choose as there as some real gems on there and the sound quality is definitely better. It's maybe not a good representation of a single full show and there isn't any in between tracks speech (which I really miss), but what's on there is bloody awesome I think. I especially think these stand out: "Anything for Love", "Rock 'n Roll Dreams", "Good girls" (quite a rare live track), great version of "Paradise", Jim's "Wasted Youth" speech live, "Frying Pan" (such an awesome live song and Meat really does it justice each time), "Objects" (breathtaking), "Two out of Three", "For Crying out Loud" (superb but MSO really beats this version IMO), "Bat out of Hell" (fantastic version recorded in Berlin btw). It's money well spent I think and fantastic sound quality which no bootleg could ever match.

I always thought it was strange the rather lacking media surrounding this album and I don't think it is easy getting hold of it. At one point I thought it was a bootleg actually but it really is a Meat Loaf produced album, with some great artwork etc (in the style of the MSO live cd). It's strange that the listed albums in "The very best of" inlay does not feature this one nor the other live album from 87.

RadioMaster 23 Apr 2006 21:53

I thank you very much for this review!
I think i will buy it with my next order at amazon.
Thanks a lot!

If you listen carefully to Crying out loud the 'cheers' are the same all the way through! He says on the MSO DVD that it's a studio recording, but regardless of that it sounds fantastic. I always think Meat sounds better live than recorded and edited anyway but thats a matter of opinion.

I've always wanted a copy of Lemon and Frying pan live and both sound great and I love to sing along to them! Good Girls is another good one. I couldn't criticise this album at all really and not just because it's Meat Loaf.

As for availability, it seems to vary alot, at one time LOTW was Ģ30 and 6 weeks away, yet I got it recently within 24 hours. Live in Wembley is also available on Amazon but I chose not to buy it as many of the tracks are the same as Alive in Hell, I brought this in a shop in the mid nineties and have never seen it on sale since.

I hope that post Bat 3 in Oct Meat puts together some more live tracks for general release, althought I would need it to be 'new' material to justify buying it. Personally I've probably got enough now and would only really be interested in new material.

It thought he said it was during a rehearsal? Without audience

Jaymze 08 May 2006 00:07

The best version of AFL and Heaven I've ever heard. Also a nice treat to hear Objects and Good Girls- an amazing album, well worth the price.

RadioMaster 08 May 2006 00:17

I ordered it some weeks ago. Unfortunately it has to be shipped over the sea. But tomorrow Iīll get it!!!
Really hope itīs as great as you all said...

It's excellent ... and definitely worth the wait :))
Enjoy it !

mikeloaf 08 May 2006 01:21

I have already said this but I hope Meat chooses to do another album similar to this one with new songs ( post 1996 ). His live performances far exceed his albums for passion and excitement, his live performance is second to none.

SuperLoafMan 08 May 2006 17:10

An absolutely amazing Album. Love Objects and frying pan.

Are we still talking about Live Around The World? I thought it was 2 CD's??? did you buy two or one?

RadioMaster 08 May 2006 23:59

i really hope that i bought both!
With one cd, i mean one album
the album was sended from Miami on april 30th, so about one week ago. Omg, it feels like iīve been waiting for months!!!
Does anybody know how long it takes to ship an album from Florida to Germany?

Yeah, it's one album but 2 CD's...

From Miami??? Oh man...I don't know...sometimes it takes from Miami to here no less than one week - don't want to upset you. I bought that movie - To Hell and Back and it took from California to here over a month. When I looked at the stamp - people didn't lie to me - they did ship it a month before. Did you pay for some expedited shipment or something? Hey, I hope it all ends up good...but if worse comes to worse...you'll still have it...

At this point I think I am already more upset than you're.

RadioMaster 16 May 2006 00:27

Today it arrived.
Listened to some songs already, but not all.
I was a little surprised by the case of the cd, didnīt expect that. The problem is that the case is very, very used. But the CDs (yes, both arrived) are quality #1.
The songs that I like most on are Good Girls and Objects, two very great live versions.
Maybe some are better, but like i said, didnīt heard it all yet.
Does somebody got additional informations? Like, when the songs were recorded or if it was all while one tour, or a tour-best-of.
R.

Bart 16 May 2006 00:45

Dont believe the recording venues mentioned in the innersleeve.
As far as I know all the songs have been recorded during 2 or 3 shows somehwere in the States.

RadioMaster 16 May 2006 00:46

The places are written:
3 or 4 in the US, 1 in the Netherlands, one in Germany

Yeahhh!!! Hooray!!! Congratulations!!! My all time favorites from that album simply because I don't have them on any other album are: What You See Is What You Get and Whatever Happened to Saturday Night. Very good album in any event.

Anybody knows the venue in NYC where this tour played? I was at the concert at about this time in NYC but not sure if it's the same one.

Didnīt hear these two songs already. Actually I never heard these songs yet. I will listen to them when I got very much time, Iīll search for the lyrics and then just enjoy...

i love this album each song sounds amazing

mikeloaf 24 May 2006 02:12

It is well worth the money but strangly I bought it off amazon for about Ģ15 a few week's ago and a few days ago it was Ģ 45. Very odd. Still I would still rate amazon, their delivery is very reliable.

ChloeLee88 24 May 2006 10:48

This is an amazing album...i love the presentation of it too! I bought my copy whilst on a school trip 4 years ago and they all thought i was crazy for spending Ģ30....but as mikeloaf said its worth every peny :D
Chloe

RadioMaster 24 May 2006 10:53

Youīre both absolutely right!
(especially becuse Iīve just paid 12€ for it;-) )

mikeloaf 24 May 2006 23:28

I hope Meat does another live CD in the future. I'd like to hear Testify, Mercury, Do it, Did I say that, amongst others.

I like every song on BAT 2 so I'd love to hear Everything louder..., and Just won't quit.

Does anyone know why he doesn't release more live material as I understood he's been recording his live shows since 1996?

I bought my copy from HMV and it cost me Ģ28 which is resonable considering what its being sold for now

I never hear much mention of this song but 'It just won't quit' is such a great song. Thinking back to my life in 1993 this song like Lemon and Frying Pan just had so much meaning. These song live and I feel passionate about them.

The whole Bat 2 album was my era. Different and unique music and still amazing to listen to.
