I'm gonna be on TV!!! Whooooo-hoooo!!!
I just got a call from the BBC with fantastic news!!!
I am going to be singing on national television!!! :D A couple of weeks ago, myself and a friend called Eve Sherratt auditioned for a new BBC2 'talent' show called 'Let Me Entertain You'. It will be on at 5pm weekdays, and will be hosted by Brian Conley. The song we sang at the audition was 'Barcelona' by Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé. AND THEY'VE SELECTED US TO APPEAR!!!! Sorry for 'spamming' you all like this, but I had to tell someone!!! Hopefully, if we get through the first heat we'll do a Meat Loaf song in the next round. Probably Dead Ringer For Love. Yay us!!! :D :D :D |
Congratulations mate!
Wonderful news! |

|
Well done!
...... can I have your autograph please  ........... well, you may well be famous very soon! |
Right, here's the deal:
The show is basically a re-make of 'The Gong Show'. The idea is that if you have a talent, you go on and try to entertain the studio audience. They all have a key-pad which they press to 'vote you off' if you're simply not doing it for them. If you last a minute, you get x-amount of cash, two minutes = more cash, the full three minutes = £1000 and a spot in the semi-final. The people who get the least 'eviction' votes in the semi-final come back for the Grand Final. All together now: "Oooooh!" You can have any (so-called) talent to enter. There's a family who are gonna try to spend three minutes explaining the virtues of bog-snorkelling ( ), and jugglers, clowns, singers, comedians etc. There's even one person who's bringing in their talking parrot! Yikes! Imagine being beaten by a talking parrot!!!   We're filming on the 16th & 17th (if we get through!) of August, and it should be aired sometime soon after. There are four 'heats' every week, Monday to Thursday, and then on the Friday it's the semi-final. So that means if we're liked by the audience, we'll be on the show THREE times! So... if someone can SkyPlus it, or tape it and can stick it on the net, that would be great. Unless we lose to the parrot (or worse, the bog-snorkellers! Lol!) By the way, we chose the song 'Barcelona' because it shows off what we can do. Eve is a classically-trained opera singer, and I am a rock singer, and this song is our 'party piece'! :D |
congrats!! break a leg!
|
Good luck :D
|
Just a note to say I'm heading off soon. Filming tomorrow and possibly Thursday (if we get through!)
Still trying to convince Eve to sing Dead Ringer in the second round lol! Wish me luck (if you haven't already!) |
Good luck!!!!
|
yeah good luck:D
|
GoodLuck! Let us know how it goes :D
|
Oh my God!
Okay, the show we filmed (just to recap) is called 'Let Me Entertain You' and will be shown on BBC2 (UK) at 4:30pm weekdays. It's like an update of the gong show - the audience have a button which they press if you fail to entertain them. Once fifty percent of them have pressed, a klaxxon sounds and they boot you off. If you last three minutes, you get a fanfare and they give you £1000. We arrived at Teddington Studios in London yesterday morning, and had to wait all day before filming began at about 7pm (remember, we had to film two back-to-back shows) so it was already a LONG day. Then we had to hang around while the presenter (Brian Conley - IT'S A PUPPET!!!!) filmed some opening links. Then the audience came in, and a warm-up comedian did a bit to help settle them. We were first up, singing Barcelona (Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe). We lasted the whole three minutes, got the fanfare AND the £1000, and a place in the semi-final (Which meant we had to do it all again!) :D We were the only act not to be voted off before the 3 minutes were up! :D They need two from each heat to go through, so the act who lasted next longest got through as well (The Celtic Colleens, an Irish-type folk group.) We were expecting to get voted off in the semi, because it was mostly the same audience, and we sang the same song - Eve, my singing partner wouldn't go for 'Dead Ringer', sadly. :( We were on last this time. The other contestants included two 'Cocktail'-style barmen, with all the fancy juggling, and a really clever young man who did a combo of 'human beat-box' (whilst singing AT THE SAME TIME!!!) and piano. He's called 'Mr Mouth', and he was AWESOME - he'll go a long way. They both lasted the full three minutes, so we REALLY thought we'd had it. So we go on again, expecting to hear the klaxxon and be kicked off, but the audience kept us on again! Another £1000! Then we had this really tense moment while they counted the votes. As three acts had made it to the three minute mark, the two with the fewest votes would go through to the grand final. Unfortunately we were just TWO votes out. But we didn't mind - we had £2000, plus all our expenses, food and drink, hotel etc paid, AND WE GOT TO BE ON TELEVISION!!! Yay us!!! :D  The series starts on Monday (21st Aug) but I think our episodes will be on 13th/14th September. Not entirely sure, so keep an eye out. PS I'm the one who looks like Meat Loaf. ;) Sean  |
Well Done :cheer: :cheer:  the drinks on you then

Anyone know how I can upload it? I have a DVD recording of the show.
Is there a program I need?! |
The percentage meter seemed to stick at 37% for ages. Your performance was excellent! You know what! You have a presence. My kids actually stopped arguing while you were singing. Wish I'd recorded it.

I just caught the tail end of it after my daughter came thundering down the stairs and put the TV on. Very impressive, I must say. Well done!

Wish I'd seen it :(
