Meat on Broadway

Why won't they record this? Meat keeps raving about it, and alot of us wanna see it? Is there any info on an audio CD or DVD:??:

meatloaf-unofficial 19 Sep 2006 16:13

what about Broadcasting it - letting us who cannot o over there to watch it here in the UK...

Any news of this ??

RoknRollJesus 19 Sep 2006 17:12

The Broadway show is essentially gonna be the same format as the RAH show correct? That was my understanding. I'm pretty sure I remember Meat saying they were gonna tape and release a dvd of RAH show. I hope I'm not making something up here.

Although, I agree. He should tape both and release a double set: From London to New York. THAT would be a winner imo!

Cheers!

RadioMaster 19 Sep 2006 17:18

wouldnt make much sense to me, because he´ll probably do (nearly) the same choice of songs at both venues.

mszee 19 Sep 2006 17:23

I think it's the same show...and RAH is first...and European fans are MUCH BIGGER fans...so it makes sense to tape RAH...

Jaymze 19 Sep 2006 17:54

I beg to differ, although I'm from England I'm positive Meat has huge fans in the US, geography doesn't make anyone a bigger fan.

I could differ from here to eternity on this subject...but I won't...

Deb 19 Sep 2006 21:07

I'm wondering if a dvd will even go ahead now Patti's left  Just for the fact that it'll be Aspens first show and I'd of thought that wouldn't be the best time to be recording a dvd... Also originally there were 3 shows mentioned at the rah. now there's only 1. Makes it harder I'd of thought.

Deb

L96 19 Sep 2006 22:01

True, but there's NYC and Toronto afterwards... surely Aspens nerves would have worn off enough for them to tape and release one of the shows, even if it's one of the latter ones, rather than RAH? (Not trying to rip the UKer's off a taping there, btw)

RadioMaster 19 Sep 2006 22:24

she performed every night to huge crowds at wwry, i think she´s used to stage fever.

djfierce 19 Sep 2006 22:35

I'm sure she will be fine, The costs of recording and editing more than one show probably prevent them from doing a double set or highlights of both.

I didn't really mean nerves / stage fright as such, just not sure the gelling for want of a better word will happen on the night, if you get me :? With new band members it always takes a while for them to find their feet etc :D

I'm all for another show being recorded instead of RAH :D That way i get to see another show as well

For some reason this had me thinking of Meats performance on American Idol.

Anyway, moving on, as its been mentioned the show in its format is already being recorded at the RAH, there's no need to record it again, not unless there's a really big screw up, which could always be a possibility.

I wouldn't say European fans are bigger fans, but I believe Meat has a much bigger fan base in Europe than America. So that could be where the logic is in recording the European show and the US or Canada one.

duke knooby 21 Sep 2006 00:27

Similar to the choice of recording in oz, with the mso?

Pudding 21 Sep 2006 00:44

I believe he did that MSO DVD in Melbourne because it was at the back end of the tour, with only a few shows left, I was actually at the last one in Christchurch.

duke knooby 21 Sep 2006 00:46

the 24th feb? had it got heaven can wait?

Blackkat13 21 Sep 2006 03:34

Didn't he say they were going to tape it cause it will be the frist time all songs from bat 1, 2, and 3 will be performed. I hope it get released on dvd they will probably include songs and performances from both shows.

RSG 25 Sep 2006 17:43

I wouldn't complain with that 8) I wonder if there will be any more "band interviews" haha they cracked me up on the MSO one.

"I don't talk! -I play!" LOL And so many more =D

SuperLoafMan 25 Sep 2006 18:00

Didnt they record MSO over 2 nights in Melbourne??? If so, maybe Meat might be planning to do this again with RAH and Broadway and then just put the 2 together, same set list but if one song sounds good or something along those lines use one from the other show and vise versa. Just a thought, maybe I am totally wrong!

vrg 25 Sep 2006 18:19

That would be difficult, as the Broadway NY theatre looks nothing like RAH! So they would have to do it as from RAH to NY.

RadioMaster 25 Sep 2006 20:01

my thoughts too...

they just could split it: 2 dvd´s - RAH and NY, with different song choices, that´be great!:))

I agree. I can't see them combining the shows as if it was one. Maybe footage from NY would be added as bonus.

mszee 25 Sep 2006 20:31

On top of it, we don't even know what theater it's going to be...saying...it's going to be on Broadway...is like saying...meet me in the middle of the Time Square...I am the one that is a woman...

The MSO DVD was able to be put together over 2 nights because the set-up, stage costume etc was exactly the same for both nights. Trying to combine RAH and NY together would quite obviously show a jump from one theatre to the other and make the DVD show look gumby :| And the last thing anyone wants is a gumby looking DVD

I'm guessing the RAH show is getting recorded, because it's quite a renowned famous theatre. But if the f*ck up the show, at least they have another chance as back up ;)

I can't remember where I saw it but I swear that somewhere Meat indicated it was going to be at the Palace Theatre. I think LESTAT was the most recent production there (although the run closed early).

Anyone else or was I dreaming?

Vickip 26 Sep 2006 03:07

You're not dreaming Jo ... it's going to be at the Palace Theatre :))

mszee 26 Sep 2006 03:18

Well, at least some news...I don't know where I was when he announced it...guess I was too busy ogling Meat...hahahahahahaha...

needmoremeat 26 Sep 2006 20:08

Is it just me or would anyone else going to RAH feel a bit cheated if it didn't end up being put on DVD? I know we're speaking hypothetically here: I'm sure the RAH will be c0ck up free, and both RAH and NY will be released on DVD in possible entirety in some shape or form.:D

djfierce 26 Sep 2006 21:00

I remember garth brooks released a dvd called to dublin and back or something which was higlights from obviously the dublin show but also the NY one.
I'm sure this point is relevant to this thread somehow

Having said that alot of artists and comedians have dvds from the rah i guess it must look more impressive or something

I'm convinced it's not going to be on dvd anyway, so I wont be disappointed  I wont feel in the slightest bit cheated if it's not either. I'm sure we'll get a recording somewhere along the line at a show on this tour, so I'll be more than happy with that. In fact I'd like the dvd to be of a show I can't get to, then I don't feel as cheated that I couldn't get there :D

I just hope it doens't end up as 'oh, they didn't record the london gig, but they did record the new york one, same old story.'
At least if both concerts are recorded then it will keep people on both sides of the Atlantic happy.

Pudding 27 Sep 2006 23:22

I fail to see your logic. I'm sure if the show was recorded in London only, the people in the states would happily buy it and vice versa.

So long as it gets recorded, the location or the country is irrelevant.

Absolutely right! I love the MSO, and that was recorded in Australia, miles away from where I am. I don't care where the recording is, as long as one is done somewhere!

I do, however, have a preference right now for a dvd of the London show, because I would like to see what Meat's show looked like in a primarily classical music place like RAH, and also to see so many of my UK forum friends in the audience.

Jeanie 28 Sep 2006 01:41

As long as it gets recorded, is all I care.. I just want to be able to see it. :))

And imagine the front cover!: MEAT LOAF AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL
Maybe it's just me being biased towards a London recorded show as I'm English, love London, and am dying to see the inside of RAH for real. But for me, it just felt as though we were told ages ago that RAH was going to be recorded, and it was like 'great! we'll get to watch him in that fantastic (and seemingly elusive, concertwise) venue more than once'; then suddenly, somehow, all the focus seems to be on Broadway being recorded as a possible alternative, and it's just...'what?! why?'
But if both are out on DVD, then those who couldn't get to RAH can see it, and those who can't go to NY (me included, skint) can see that, too.
