What a voice - it's fantastic.
|
Who is the male voice in the song "The Wrong Thing"?
IMHO this song is better than some bat3 songs (what about love, seize the night, (break it), if god could talk). Go on Patti! |
The other voice seems Cher.:))
|
Sounds more like Ty Taylor who was in We Will Rock You with Patti to me

Hi. I don't think Patti should have left Meats side:( , or at least done a couple more records on Bat 3. Really hope they patch things up, and perhaps change their minds about quitting and do another!

Back when Patti was performing an opening set for the ML gigs, she sang this great rocker, "Madeline." She has just added this song to the new expanded music player on her Myspace page. Just look for the little scroll bar on the side of the box and scroll down to THE VAULT.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=48776594 |
Patti has just put up another new song called "Vision of You." Go to her myspace page and scroll down on the music player to THE VAULT to hear it!
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endid=48776594 In her blog under the section THE VAULT she talks about her inspiration behind this song. |
"One door opens" sounds fantastic IMO. Quite ironic as I think this song is much better / more original and more heartfelt than quite a few on Bat 3. LMAO. :))
|
Interesting observation:-)
She just added another song to the music player in THE VAULT called "These Arms." She goes on to tell a bit of the story of how this song came to be in her blog entry by the same name. Check out this Steinman influenced song http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endID=48776594 |
Great song, great voice. Why can't there be a cd of Patti's songs?
To another time and dimension, it would have been a great song also for Meat. |
Being she's not on a label atm that seems to be a long way off but I really hope there will be one very soon ;).
|
Guess you all found the latest addition called ''These Arms'' to her Myspace by now?!
It is stuck in my head since I heard it for the first time :D Can't wait for an album to put on repeat!!! |
Patti has a new song oline on myspace under "the vault" with the name "Where Were You".

thats song is cool - heard it before :-)

Thanks for the heads up.
First time hearing this, it's beautiful :)) ! She also has a gorgeous new profile pic up also. |

Patti has added a new Vault song, 'Fight'.
It's different to the others that she done it's far rockier but I love it and she has also posted a new journal entry, you can view and hear at Patti's myspace page !! Enjoy  |
I'll bump this thread up because there is a discussion going on in another thread that wants to continue but doesn't really belong there. If people feel like they still need to discuss, now a year later, why Patti left the band, perhaps they'll bring that over to this thread. I know this is a question that draws much speculation and usually results in thread locking or deletion, rightly so, I guess. The question I ask myself (and other relevent parties :D) is why now, after all this time, does it still matter WHY she left? It does seem to make a difference how fans feel about her..........thinking she left Meat because she wanted to break out on her own and not be tied down by another two years of touring makes some fans feel one way about her...............or thinking she was driven out or even fired to be replaced by someone younger makes other fans feel the need to defend her and potentially disparage Aspen. For these reasons, I wish the truth would come to light. But unless explaining what really happened will make either party feel better or have a sense of closure, it isn't going to happen. Reading Patti's blog recently may make one feel differently, but I think much has happened to this woman in the course of a year that is entirely unrelated to ML, but contributed to the frustration in those posts. All I'll say is she appreciates the support from all her fans, doesn't take anything for granted, and reads everything anyone sends her.........including questions:D.
Since all of the above may disappear, I'll try to save the post with a link, once again, to her most recent project, performances in Italy. Deb has done an amazing job posting pics and videos on her site for Patti. Deb's site: http://www.debzwebz.biz/debsmeatywor...o_projects.htm Here's a direct link to the newest video montage of Patti performing with Ellis Hooks: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wy0bCWezQ9E It's just fun. |

This is a discussion board and were here to exchange our opinions about Meat Loaf related stuff. Arent we? This sure might in some way be a delicate subject, but as long as nobody's attacked personally I dont see any reason to stop discussing her leaving of the band. |
Right. And in my next sentence I went on to acknowledge why, in fact, it DOES still seem to matter not knowing why she left.
|
My thought exactly RJ
Patti was a very important part of my Meat world. She still is a very important part of it, even though she isn't in the band now. Deb |
Thanks for posting that for me Steph :-)

Please don't misunderstand me. Of course it matters. |
Just to play devils advocate for a moment, but, over the last 30 years The Neverland Express has been a band with a transient line up, the only constant has been Meat himself.
Don't get me wrong, I miss Patti, but I also miss Bob Kulick, The Goff Sisters, Chuck Burgii, Steve Buslowe, Paul Jacobs, Kati Mac, Alan Merrill and all the others. Each brought their own touch to a live show, each have rightly earned their names in the alumnii of The Neverland Express, each have contributed to making a Meat showand/or a Meat record memorable. Yes Patti was an integral part of the line up and a major foil for Meat's on stage antics for many many years, and there's a whole generation of Meat fans who grew up on a diet of live and recorded Patti who haven't been as lucky as I have in seeing some of the other memorable line-ups that have been out there with Meat. The inquisitive part of me would like to understand why Patti is no longer part of the line up, but then again there's also a part of me that doesn't want to know, this is the same part of me that accepted Kati Mac and Doreen Chanter being replaced by the Goff sisters and then the Goff's being replaced by Patti, that accepted Andy Wells being replaced by Chuck and in turn John replacing Chuck, that accepted Bob and Alan giving way for Pat Thrall and Kasim and then Steve Buslowe and Pat going in favour of Damon and Ray (with a sidestep by Kasim into the Bass player and MD role) then Damon and Ray giving way to Paul and John Golden and then John going in favour of Randy. I guess I'm asking if we really do need to know why to accept that she has gone? Do we really need to understand every detail to wish her all the best for the future and to continue to support her in whatever she does? Does dragging up the past help? Sometimes it does as it gives closure and healing and sometimes it has the complete opposite effect. |

Ansy, from your perspective I guess the answer is no. As like you say you've seen many line ups come and go. Plus for you and many others at the end of the day Meat is the main reason you're in this :-) On the other hand.... there's those of us who haven't been around to see as many band members come and go. What i'm trying to say is, for some knowing wont make a difference and for others it will. For some it will give closure and healing for others it wont make a blind bit of difference. On a side note, I personally think Patti to be the most important NLE member to date (yes even above John lol) 13 yrs as far as I know is longer than any either of the female singers. Which in itself is something huge. Not only for the fans but for the band also. Patti was a HUGE part of the NLE touring family. And I'm sure her leavng has affected them as much as some of us, if not more. So yes others have come and gone. Tom a great lost to me personally (sorry Mark ;) :D) But IMO Patti leaving is on a totally different level. Plus if Patti hadn't left maybe Randy would of got a haircut :-P Deb |
I'm not disputing anything you say here Des, I was as saddened as anyone to hear that Patti wouldn't be part of the NLE anymore. Yes I guess I am more used to seeing the line up change than others are, that doesn't mean I don't miss Patti or any of the others.
As you say Patti was a huge asset to Meat and the NLE, both off stage and on stage, and, never mind Randy's haircut, the standard of female wardrobe plummetted as well ;-) She will always be missed. |
LMAO ...men have a one track mind lol.
She will definitely be missed and what I was really trying to say was there are a certain percentage of us who in a way are grieving over this. And sometimes the only way to get past this is to talk about it. As long as it stays civil as RJ said. I totally undertsand for others they would rather move on, but then they have the option to not read it lol. Deb |
Out of simple curiosity, I would like to know why Patti is no longer with a band too.
However, it appears to me that if no disclosure came from either camp as of now, it is no longer forthcoming. Obviously, both sides decided that it is between them and nobody else. It is also obvious that it must have been something not so good to say the least if there was no announcement of any kind. Americans are very big on all kinds of announcements of this nature - no publicity is ever a bad publicity... So, unless one of them will come up with memoirs years later and will describe the break in those, we will probably never find out what really happened. And even if they do come up with something eventually...who knows what truth is at the end of the day which as it is already is stranger than fiction... So we can speculate from here to eternity but that ain't getting us nowhere... |

As stated as long as the topic remains civil and steers clear of too much "speculation" then all is as good as can be. |
I'm more than happy with Randys hair as it is lol, but there's a few who aren't and i'm sure they'd love Patti to get her hands on it and cut it lol

Neither did I see even any kind of rumors/speculations anywhere here either...which I find rather interesting since people here LOVE sensations... By "here" I mean press of America... |
This is is also a very different and exciting time in the music industry. With the internet, discussion forums, band websites, and myspace blogs, fans today have an incredibly intimate relationship with the artists they love. Patti didn't disappear. We've been watching her progress for the last year, listened as her own music began to emerge, and read about her ups and downs on her personal blog. She's responded directly to her fans, showed her appreciation for their support, and been more accessible than she's ever been before. I think it's partly this connection to her that has many fans still caring very much for her and how she was treated, what specifically led to her departure, and how best to go about helping her achieve the success many want for her to have.
Many concert goers never read the boards or at least follow these things so closely. Changes in the band line-up may be mere casual observations to them. But for those who do care, they care very much about Patti, and about every member of the band. When other members left, if the opportunity and accessibility presented itself, I would guess similar questions would have been asked. The question isn't really whether or not knowing why SHOULD make a difference, but instead it's about recognizing that it did and there is now a very noticable split between the camps. |
Another thing we should keep in mind is that line ups of backing bands change all the time, and it's rather unusual for one single person to have such a huge impact that the fans speculate about their leaving even a year after it actually happened.
I mean, can anyone tell all the members ever been part of the Rolling Stones? lol (and they are a "proper" band!) Half the discussion here is missing the point IMO. This is not THAT she left (as several people said this is usual business for band members to leave) or if she's missed, but WHY she left. As it happened in this mysterious way, which is (correct me if I'm wrong) NOT the usual way. |
Quote:
Precisely my point...usually something comes up like...Left to pursue other interests...and then in tabloids you read...was fired for racial comments or something like that...here...no official announcements and no rumors of any kind in the press... |
I somehow doubt that Meat's band line up would be considered a newsworthy item anywhere in the world, certainly I don't remember any other NLE line up change over the last few decades getting press coverage.
If we start speculating about why Patti is no longer a part of the NLE then we're getting into the dangerous territory I think. Speculating will just take the conversation into the areas that no one wants to see it go. |
I agree Andy, I don't think it would of made the press either. Not unless the circumstances were even more odd than any of us can imagine anway lol.

*stops thinking about Randy's hair long enough to type...*
My humble little opinion...band members come and go whether they've been there for a month or a year. My first show was in 1996 and so when Pat Thrall and Steve Buslowe left I was upset about it because I was precious about them being my one and only Meat Loaf band. They left and the 1999 band came in, who also came and left... The thing is that for people like me who are of the Bat II generation of ML fans, we've seen guitarists and pianists come and go and are "used" to it (for want of a better word), but for those of us from this generation we had never experienced Meat without Patti and to lose her was like losing a part of Meat. I'd say the same for Kasim and John too, I'm be truly gutted if either of those two left because I've never expereinced Meat without them. |

I cringe a bit when I think of the above post being the last word on this particular subject. But perhaps the discussion did run its course. For those of you who are interested, five more videos from Italy have found their way to youtube thanks to Deb's incredible skill at converting and uploading such things. Some are of Patti and some are of Patti singing with Ellis Hooks, who I hope we'll hear a lot more from.
For some Mustang Sally, all of Shake, some Sweet Soul Music, and more of Patti singing her own songs, check out these recent uploads on youtube: Patti Russo on youtube |
Thanks for posting the links Steph :-)
The quality of your videos are great and hearing them songs again yesterday brought back very wonderful memories of some very wonderful people  Deb |
Personally I honestly dont think we will ever know the truth behind why Patti left because there are so many versions out there how would we know what to believe.
My own opinion is that irrespective of why she left Patti's departure has left a hole that can not be filled. She was IMHO the first and only female lead that worked with Meat that was every bit his equal. Her style as with all others is unique but there was something about it that worked so well with the whole NLE not just Meat. I wish Patti all the best in her career and leave with one thought that has been a personal faveourite of mine for some time now. For Meat's final concert ( I never want it to happen but we know it will sooner or later ) How about bringing back all the original artists for each track e.g. Cher for dead ringer etc... Will probably never happen but if it did it would go down in history as the concert the whole world should have watched. |

Pud  |
Probably not, but I figured you could handle it:D
Most of the questions, theories, and speculation have come out of people's genuine curiosity and concern for what happened. I know some of the suggested reasons for her leaving were a bit outlandish, unlikely, or yes, amusing, but I still don't this whole situation is something to poke fun at. There are real people and still real feelings involved, here. I know that you know this. That's why your post surprised me a bit and made me cringe when I saw it. |
People are always going to speculate on what did and didn't happen, and I speculate that Patti, if she ever does read this board, which I doubt, will be pissing herself laughing at all the outlandish theories. From what I've read, there's been no harm nor foul in what people have posted, nor do I suspect there would be, nor do I suspect anyone is going to upset Patti's feelings, willingly or otherwise. So perhaps taking on the role as the 'over-protective mother' is doing Patti a dis-service.
Yes, I know some stuff, and I know you know I know some stuff, which is probably to your displeasure, but that's something we're both going to have to live with. Pud  |
Do the reasons actually matter anymore? Of course we were all shocked, devastated and puzzled at the time but things have moved on. Patti is doing well with her solo career and Aspen sings with Meat now. Nothing lasts forever.
|
I do not see why it matters to be perfectly honest. Patti seems happy and content at the moment and her music is thriving. Why then do we constantly have to bring up the why and what if's when ever a new thing is happening in Patti's solo venture? After all this is a thread dedicated to Patti so shouldn't we show her the respect and loyalty she deserves without keep asking why she left? Just a thought.
|
Quote:
Patti was/is a big part of some peoples memories and probably will be for quite some time. To say do the reasons matter, is almost accepting that Patti didn't matter, and she did. Quote:
I'm more than pleased that Patti has moved on and can't wait to hear more from her, I think she's fantastically under-used talent, but for me there'll always be the 'what if' factor with regards to Bat3 and the tour, and to others I suspect the same. That's why until Patti or Meat or both come out and say what happened, people will always be wondering and asking, that'll never change. Pud  |
