Vinyl Records
I'm thinking about buying/collecting Meat's vinyl records. But I'm curious... Which albums were made in that format? Thanks!
Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner |
as far as i know all the major albums were available in vinyl, though some might be hard to get now in that format
and there are many different singles, and picture discs to collect |
Every album except Very Best Of has been released on vinyl.
From Bat to HCTB. WTTN and CHSIB are the two rarest with CHSIB being the hardest to find. So far HIAH hasn't been slated for a release on vinyl and I doubt it will be now sadly. |
I don't know if it's just me but WTTN doesn't seem as rare as you think, if you're using eBay. I've seen it show up a few times now. CHSIB on the other hand...
Edit: Pity about HIAHB. I was hoping they would. But then I suppose the collectors might want all the different covers in vinyl form, which I suppose the record company doesn't want. Well, they could have released Very Best... Echoes: Best of Pink Floyd was released as a four disc vinyl set. |

All except Bat II, WTTN and CHSIB pretty much always turn up in ebay searches. Bat II regularly appears but sometimes doesn't. WTTN appears less often and CHSIB is rarer than the rocking horse poo. |
Of some albums there is more than one version available:
Stoney & Meatloaf: - original release - 1978 re-release as a "Meat Loaf" album as Meatloaf featuring Stoney and Meatloaf. There are three different covers for the re-release. Bat Out Of Hell: - standard LP, several re-releases, incl. one or two with a gatefold cover - 1980 half-speed mastered version - picture disc, North American and U.K. versions* Dead Ringer: - standard LP - picture disc, North American and U.K. versions* Bad Attitude: - standard European edition - U.S. version (different track order and mix) - Italian version (cover has a white frame) Blind Before I Stop: - standard European edition - U.S. edition with different cover - Soviet pressing with cyrillic letters on the cover and and info on Meat Loaf printed on the back side (this is typical for many East European releases of that time) Bat Out Of Hell II: - standard U.K. LP - U.K. picture disc Bat Out Of Hell III: - standard European double LP - U.S. double LP in red vinyl, cover print differs slightly from European version * The U.K. versions usually have the tracklist printed on the B side, the U.S. versions haven't. The U.K. Dead Ringer has the words "Dead Ringer" printed on the A side. --- Aside from this there are promo/demo versions of the regular albums as well as promo live LPs such as Live (the one with the pink Bat 1 cover art) and Live from El Mocambo (Canadian promo). If you want to start collecting vinyl records, Meat Loaf is a good source, as numerous items (incl. some nice picture and shape discs as well as colored vinyl) are available. :-) Quote:

I usually stay away from compilation albums but there are two vinyl records I bought just because I liked their covers :
1. Prime Cuts 2. Paradise By The Bashboard Light: Meat Loaf - The Very Best Of The cover shows Meat Loaf on a Harley Davidson which I thought was cool at the time I purchased it. It's apparently a photo montage because Meat Loaf's clothes look like the ones he used to wear during the Bat Out Of Hell / Dead Ringer period while the Harley is equipped with an Evolution engine, which wasn't manufactured before 1984. |
WTTN on vinyl seems to come in waves...I'd been on the lookout for it for years, eventually got a copy (a mint copy I might add!) then within a couple of weeks I'd seen two or three of them on Ebay. Then you won't see it for months.
Just got to keep your eyes peeled! |

This is very interesting .. thanks for the info everybody :-)
I got the CHSIB LP from an online record store on Amazon.co.de and have only seen it listed on Ebay once since ;) I keep hoping that HIAHB is released on Vinyl too, but I doubt it will be now either :( |

Isn't the a double LP of Bat2 knocking around somewhere as well?
|
...you've got me thinking now, I thought Bat II was 2 discs anyway?
Watch me have tons of rare stuff and not know it! |
Yes, there is a double LP of Bat II. Although it was pressed in the UK, it was released in Zimbabwe. I've got some pictures of it here.
If you think the CHSIB LP is rare, try finding this one. |

 Worth mentioning (I think) when it comes to discussing Meat's albums on vinyl, is that all the albums come with a lyric sheet apart from MATLAF and Bat II (the lack of a sheet for Bat II is surprising).
Don't know if CHSIB has a lyric sheet as it's the only vinyl i've not got in my collection, but i'm sure of the lucky gits here can tell you that information :p  |

I've never come across a copy with a lyric sheet before (not that that's a reason to totally rule the possibility out). But another good indicator is that the CD of MATLAF also does not come with a lyric book. EDIT: It's just occured to me that this is better placed in the collectors forum, so thread moved. I'm sure you'll all sleep much much better now that's done  |
