already planned to book tickets for Bonn a few weeks ago.
Anyone ever seen him live? Is he good?
To be honest Ill rather buy tickets for the oportunity to get an autograph than the actual show

AndrewG 25 Jul 2008 18:03

I listened to a few of his albums once but totally did not like it, even coming from an open mind as I liked almost anything related to Steinman and the people he has worked with, mostly in the 90s. Not sure what he's like live. Probably really good as he's amazing on the guitar that's for sure.

AndyK 25 Jul 2008 20:15

Saw him a couple of times on the Liars tour and I really enjoyed the live shows, Todd is an amazing guitarist and his "live" voice is pretty good too. Not too keen on his recorded work though, from what I've heard it translates to the stage better.

He struck me as amazingly gracious...so might be a good chance for an autograph...

I think I've seen some concerts here too...but I am a bit overbooked at the moment to see Rundgren...still sleeping on it...that and Alanis Morisette...totally on the fence about both...

AndrewG 25 Jul 2008 20:22

Interestingly you mention Alanis Morisette. I found her live totally awful, though her studio work is amazing. What a twisted world at times. Lol.

He's playing 8/16 (thats a Saturday) at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park .... some kind of tribute to the Beatles Sgt Pepper album, with Denny Laine (from Wings) and Christopher Cross (his big hit was "Sailing" ... also the song from that movie Arthur with Dudley Moore)

Collect them wherever you want to...I will provide food and lodgings...not enough? I will throw in transportation and a few pints...don't get greedy on me...

RadioMaster 25 Jul 2008 20:56

He's not mentioned it on stage at all during the shows I've seen. Was lucky enough to meet him before the Manchester show and he briefly mentioned Jim ... literally saying "he'll be asleep at this time of day".

RadioMaster 25 Jul 2008 23:24

alright....actually wouldnt have expected it either

11 Nov Manchester ??? it can't be right. It is on 6th of Nov, because I've already got the ticket.

On one of our steintrips to see Tanz, JD (Jim's PA) was there and called Jim up on her batphone, passing it round so we could all have a few words. Jim sounded a bit groggy, so I said to him "you sound worse than I do!" (I was ill at the time). He replied "Yeah, well, I only just got up". I got the feeling it was the phone call that woke him. This was at about 4 in the afternoon for Jim ...
