I honestly don't know about Meat Loaf's myspace page ...
but they are working on a new official website which should, hopefully, be up and running soon.

But the new official homepage have been in the works for a veeery long time now... So I honestly doubt that a new version is right around the corner... :(

Exactly. I think its shameful. People renew every year in hope of something better which doesnt seem to come. I think Meat really needs to bash some heads, or not listen to so called advisors and just do it himself.

mszee 29 Mar 2009 06:37

There are quite a few "Meat Loaf"s on MySpace...

I am pretty sure that Michael is right and he had nothing to do with any of them...

Sarge 29 Mar 2009 11:24

An outdated MySpace page  - and why isn't he on Facebook, Twitter and all those other "I-just-got-out-of-bed-now-let-me-tell-you-what-I-had-for-dinner-and-how-I-feel-right-now" pages? ;)

Meat Loaf and the internet, well... I don't care about that MySpace page. I prefer a professionally created and maintained homepage instead. Unfortunately, Meat currently doesn't seem to have one. What serves as his own page has been almost dead for quite a while now and the way it has been run so far deterred me from further visits and I'll probably never join his official fanclub (sorry). A very good example of how to use the internet in order to alienate your fans instead of attracting them. :?

Yep, every Tom, Dick and Harry can represent themselves via MySpace and call themselves whatever they want. That's why a MySpace page can only be an addition, one of many parts of a good marketing concept and it has to be properly maintained, otherwise it won't be taken seriously in the long run.

And when he takes action himself, he sometimes behaves like a "bull in a china shop". ;) Just consider his issues with YouTube. He seems to be more busy taking each and every unauthorized blurry clip off than trying to use that platform to his own end. Why doesn't he just start his own YouTube channel, for example?

MeatGrl1 29 Mar 2009 12:33

He stated on the .net forum that he's never been on myspace it's just a promotional tool.

allrevvedup 29 Mar 2009 12:50

I doubt you will see a revamped website until the next album comes out and they will try to "promote" it that way.

I think Meat is basically private and if he had the choice I don't think he would want to have had to leave any blog updates on .net or do anything with MySpace.

I left .net because it was rubbish in terms of "exclusives". I signed up for good seats, got good seats and had no further need to use it.

It's the same reason i have signed up with Aerosmith and U2 fan clubs but I have to say they offer a lot more for the same amount of money and it's regularly updated.

I'm glad he doesn't feel the urge to inform the public about what he's doing in his private life. When it comes to his work, I wish there was a reliable source to get info from (e.g. whether he is really going to perform at some festival in Scandinavia or not ;)) but I've actually given up on *.net since 2007. I don't approve of the way some people / opinions were treated there. That's one of the reasons why I won't spent any money on it, even if they had really great offers for members.

Well, this bit is puzzling for me too...because a lot of artists now have their channels/pages on youtube and it appears to be serving as an advert rather than a thievery...after all, what is there to steal??? Some clips of the 70's concert that nobody ever seen before and after seeing such might get interested in the artist today???

Well, then you've gotten a whole lot more than I did...my seats were crap...

I am a paid member of Duke Special fan club and for my membership fee I've already gotten more than I have ever thought possible - like 3 CD's, for example, never mind autographed picture and fanclub magazine, etc...

tonyloaf 29 Mar 2009 19:36

meat doesnt have myspace, i saw an interview not to long ago really where he was saying the meat loaf myspace page is not him and he has never used it, i think . net will be running nearer the end of year in promaotion of new album, would just be nice for us to have a site to use now as the us the fans pay our money surpoort him fully and dont really get alot back, (website im meaning)

wolfy35 30 Mar 2009 17:50

Meat said on his official page a while ago that he was unhappy with things and was in the process of finding and then bringing on board a new company not just to run and update the site but to provide correct moderation of the forum on there that had decended into chaos with the current moderator ( I wont mention any names ) allowing things to get way out of hand and in general making things look bad. As far as I know things are close now but it has taken a long time to happen.

As far as myspace is concerned there is an official Meat page ( http://www.myspace.com/meatloaf ) that is linked via the .net site but it is not Meat that runs it, There again this may change but the last time I heard anything the myspace site was monitored by his management company on Meat's behalf

Exactly right. In his journal, Meat posted that they signed the contract with the new company and that the new site should be up and running soon.

Maybe it's ready to go but they're waiting for Meat's final approval before it can go live :??:

I am sorry but I do have to say something...

You start a thread and pose a question...let me quote you...

"Why are Meat Loaf's websites and myspace never updated

forgive me if this has been asked and or a dumb question"

I can forgive any dumb question...but it is more difficult to forgive when somebody poses a "dumb" question just to start a pointless controversy and a debate...

Here is another quote from you in response to Vicki's post about website being updated:

"Don't hold your breath"

Why do you ask the question to which you already know the answer?

I can vouch for that! And its also a lot cheaper than a .net membership. Sure, the likes of Duke Special are not comparable with a rockstar like Meat Loaf, but it clearly shows that the people running it are doing it for the good of the fans, and not primarely for the $$$.

Btw, Zina, did you get #2 of the 'Special Edition'?

might be, but he's been saying the same thing for about two years now...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt there a similar issue with the official site, that ran before .net?
At least I remember something around the time I joined, that everybody was happy when .net launched as the former site was crap and never got updated, etc?

mszee 04 Apr 2009 16:54

RJ, I did get 2nd edition...

That is not my point made yesterday...my point is that the subject of .Net has been discussed over and over and over again on this forum and it ain't getting anybody anywhere...who knows the cause of it not being what it should be? It started well enough I suppose...maybe website isn't important to Meat...maybe he has other more pressing goals and problems...

My point is that in the last few weeks RHStoned started quite a few "interesting" threads...on topics that were discussed and over-discussed...and somehow always led to controversy...but if you look at the date of joining the forum...it's 2005...which is even before I came along...if it was a new person starting these threads, it would be understandable...but for a long standing fan/member whose been here forever it is a bit strange to pose the questions which he has already seen answers to numerous times...begs quite another question...WHY?

RadioMaster 04 Apr 2009 17:59

However, my unqualified guess would be that a relaunch wouldnt be of a lot of use until the promo for the new album.
