Getting rid of certain smilies

Warioloaf said in THIS thread PS: Should we get rid of the :retard: smile

I'm totally against it because where would it end?

Do we also get rid of  because it might upset those that are religious? What about :hic: for those affected by alcoholism or :kickass: for those who've suffered or know someone who's suffered violence or :keke: because it might upset those who work with or have friends who are Asian. Maybe get rid of :arrr: because I know someone who's lost an eye.

And at the end of the day I'm guessing no one has seen a mentally challenged person actually looking like ---> :retard:

Wario 13 Jul 2009 23:40

Pud, I dont want it to go, i LOVE it no lie ;)

But i mean it was one of the two exempilary words m said were disturbing him (as far as i see theres no smile of the second word he stated - thank heaven ).

This whole suggestion about the smile I made has made me look smarter then I wanna look

Maybe instead of getting rid of :retard: we could just rename it!!

We could call :tard: :Pud: and we could call :retard: :Pudding:!!

Or we could have a poll instead lol!!

I'll take the :tard: :Pud: if you take the :retard: :SamCat: that seems more appropriate :))
If I'm going to have a smilie named after me it has to be the flogging a dead horse one http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ADeadHorse.gif

I think atm the  is more appropriate for me having 2 of my friends leaving here this week!!

Pudding 14 Jul 2009 00:23

Have they actually left or have they just said they were leaving to make a point but not really gone?

Does it matter? The fact that they felt the need to leave what is supposed to be a fun place even for a few days because of the behaviour of others is sad!!

Any way back on topic on the other the hand maybe :hic: is a better one for me lol!!

Yes it does, because by 'leaving' they've stirred up a whirlpool of shit by complaining about those that have stirred up a whirlpool of shit. Monstro I'm sad see go, always thought he was funny.

But by stirring up a whirlpool of shit about those that have stirred up a whirlpool of shit will improve the site by showing R and the mods that they need to be stricter with us all!!

Monstro is one of my best friends, he is very funny and has very high morals of right and wrong!!

Still dont like the flogging a dead horse smilie i find it a bit distastefull!!

It's not about being stricter. Not a lot was done about much really until R came back, that's a telling sign of the mods and their usefulness. I think R needs to be dishing out some P45's

LMFAO !!!!!!!!! BRILLIANT !!!!!! HAHAHA

R. 14 Jul 2009 21:25

I don't see any sense in getting rid of these smilies as it doesn't stop the insult. Even if the :retard: smilie is gone, you can still type the word "retard", so where's the difference? I might consider renaming them but that doesn't affect old posts. If I replace the ":retard:" smilie mapping, all old posts will show the ":retard:" text instead of the smilie which is probably more annoying than the smilie. Therefore I could only add a ":dumbass:" mapping, but that doesn't get rid of the ":retard:" mapping, now does it? In other words ... let me sleep on it. :sherlock:

RadioMaster 14 Jul 2009 21:32

well, if you really want it, you could censor the word, like ~~~~. but IMO that's overreacting.

Wario 14 Jul 2009 22:07

As i said, Forget i said anything
