Meat Loaf. A guilty pleasure?

Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix is searching for the Greatest Guilty Pleasure Musical Act of All Time. With 32 seeded contestants this tournament is sure to change hearts, minds, and lives for weeks to come. Read/listen to the following, and then cast your vote in the poll after the jump; reader comments will be used in subsequent rounds, so we encourage you to also post a comment explaining why you chose the way you did. Note: In case of a tie, please select the artist you feel more ashamed to adore. Thank you.

Vote for Meat here

back when TMIL was released in 2006, there was a magazine about top guilt pleasures. Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman BOOH was number one ;)

Pudding 24 Aug 2009 21:52

It was a close call, but Garth got my vote, always go for the underdog :))

guys, let's remember to stick to the topic ;)

Pudding 24 Aug 2009 22:28

There's a topic? :wtf: It's just a link to poll on another website between Meat Loaf and Garth Brooks where the only thing they have in common is...errr...nothing  Where's the topic? Seriously, it's kinda asking for a random discussion

I for one don't think that Meat Loaf and Garth Brooks are guilty pleasure's. Why feel guilty for liking either one? My guilty pleasure is someone like Savage Garden or Tina Turner :D

Evil One 25 Aug 2009 01:04

Nothing wrong with Tina Turner either really. Impressive she's still going at her age.

You're right there's absolutely nothing wrong with Tina Turner and she looks great to be 70.

Why would anyone feel guilty about listening to anything they damn well like to listen to? I listen to lots of stuff, and there's nothing there that I'd label as a 'guilty pleasure,' as I don't feel guilty about liking what I like.

RadioMaster 25 Aug 2009 12:20

i think the key word is peer pressure.

Come on, NO ONE of you would feel a little ashamed if they listened to Westlife??

Evil One 25 Aug 2009 13:04

There's a difference between a guilty pleasure and a shameful pleasure!

And in the example quoted regarding Westlife, no pleasure at all.

evil nickname 25 Aug 2009 14:36

O, well, maybe I'm just not insecure enough to be bothered by what other people feel I shouldn't listen to.

I listen to some Westlife stuff and don't feel ashamed. I'd feel ashamed listening to it and denying it.
