Guitar Hero/Rock Band

Been on this site for years, but I think this is the first thread I've actually started! Here goes...

After the recent release (and apparent success) of the video game Rock Band Beatles, I was wondering if anyone (else) thinks Meat Loaf should consider contributing some songs to the Guitar Hero or Rock Band games? And what songs should people sing/drum or play plastic guitar to?

I think there's a chance that it could get meat's music to a potentially new audience and also prove to people who are just familiar with the (especially recent) singles that the man can rock!

I'd like to see Bat (of course), Frying Pan, Bad For Good, Amnesty Is Granted and maybe Life Is A Lemon - maybe live versions since they tend to be heavier.

Am I on my own with this one?

I always thought Meat should be featured in such a game, it would be fun to play. But I think it's not gonna happen, at least not in the near future.

I'd like to add Everything Louder, Monster, Pigs* and If It Ain't Broke for now as well as some 1980s stuff like Bad Attitude and Piece Of The Action.

*There is that excellent guitar solo by Steve Vai, imagine how you cold pose. :D

I would buy it. I think a smarter investment is to making it half Meat Loaf music and half another artist's.

Can't see why they can't at least make a downloadable Meat Loaf trackpack on RB and GH. Bat (full version) and Dead Ringer would work well together and in both of these excellent games. I think a full game is very unlikely. I reckon Bruce Springsteen would have a better chance at that and even he only did a 2 song trackpack for GH to coincide with his album release in January.

i always have wondered why, with so many versions released that they've never had a single meat loaf track on any of them. is it a copyright issue?

dukesofhazard 15 Sep 2009 14:06

Apparently Queen is releasing a 'track pack' on Rock band soon - I would love it if Meat could get something like that on there - just 5 or 6 tracks would be fine by me!

I have no idea why there's been no Meat tracks on any of the music games so far though. Wouldn't have thought the rights holders would make much difference. Could just be that Meat is one of the artists that are opposed to those types of games (though I am of the opinion that X factor etc are worse for the music industry than music video games).

Just out of curiousity .. if they wanted to use BOOH, would they contact Jim Steinman since he wrote the song :??:

*originaldancechick 15 Sep 2009 16:40

I think Jim could throw a wobbly if he wasn't asked. I think Dead Ringer for Love could also br included. Luv cx

duke knooby 15 Sep 2009 17:31

i think they're saving booh for the 2010 release of piano hero... they plan to use the extra interest in meats new album to help with promotion ;)

 was only joking

That's interesting news. thanks for the info. Luv cx

I am totally in favor of having a Meat track on either Rock Band or Guitar Hero. I've read the gaming communities blogs (Guitar Hero official and Rock Band official sites). Originally they said there was too much piano to make it work. I don't know if they've revisited it at all since. It's been a while since I emailed my opinions there. But the latest releases of the games did not have any Meat on there. Not even a downloadable type.

I would gladly pay for the downloaded track(s). I don't have a preference of song, but more of a preference of Meat on the games.

 Think it's odd there isn't any ML in any of these games.
They're hugely popular right now, and although i'm not under any illusion that having a ML track on guitar hero is going to guarentee No 1 singles and albums  it can't do any harm can it?

howlerformeatloaf 15 Sep 2009 21:42

I was just thinking some songs like dead ringer could be used but other songs like BOOH and Paradise, do you think they may be too long for the game? I dont think Meat would want them cut down any but I was just thinking about it and came up with that. But my thinking causes problems alot of time too so what do I know.

Wario 15 Sep 2009 22:15

With stairway to heaven, BOOH and Paradise shouldn't be problematic if length is concerned.

For rock band Took the words is a very drum heavy song :D

suzieq 12 Oct 2009 03:55

Probably a beating a dead horse, but I had a random thought about this topic. With length of song, duet incompatibility, possible popularity (chart influencing) issues and piano formatted song issues...Meat's probability of having one of his past songs applied to GH/RB seems unlikely.

However, does anyone remember an interview with Meat promoting Bat III and he said that with Desmond; Bat III was going to have more guitars than previous Bat II? Then when they were producing they added even more guitars. Ok my point is, this new album/CD, with Meat's horses out of the stables, what are the chances of a guitar heavy song that would warrant a hit on the charts and popular enough to have a downloadable version put on Rock Band/Guitar Hero????

The thoughts that are racing through my head right now is we know (as players of the game) what GH/RB is looking for to make for great fun to play. What if Meat has the formula and he designed a song to be a hit and RB/GH friendly? Everyone wins!

I'm reaching here, but I'm thinking optimistically outside of the box.

In one of the most recent tweets, a crazy thrash sounding drum beat was in the background. It is very intense I might add. Something good to play on those plastic electronic FUN instruments. Land Of The Pig would have been great on guitar hero. There's a beat behind the GREAT vocal and guitar nu metal that just makes it all the more rocking!

Good points though SQ, when we hear the new record for the first time. I'm sure it's going to go in all the right places. In our hearts. The charts, it may even have some people runaway with fear. I know some people who still get frightened over TMIL and some of its content.

suzieq 12 Oct 2009 05:01

Yes, I agree with the recent thrash of the drums and the ability to play that on the poor plastic instruments. I also agree with Pigs being a great song to have played. In my eyes, I can see many of Meat's songs on there...problem is, GH/RB may not even know about those songs due to lack of exposure. GH/RB is not an avenue to make a new song popular, it's made to play songs that have been detailed as classics to relive and revive if you will. I just find it unlikely that they will put some of Meat's previous guitar heavy stuff on the games due to the other various criteria that are attractive to the game makers.

On content I've revisited this tweet: http://yttwt.com/52wjz with Randy jammin'. And with a sound like this (although a little Zepplin/Kashmir like at 4-11 sec mark) I can totally see it on GH. If a new song is an instant hit, GH/RB will capitalize on the hit and add it as a downloadable and not miss the boat on a popular song.

TMIL and it's content can be frightening to the love ballad enthusiast. EX: If you are coming out of a random selection on your IPod and you just heard Heaven Can Wait then TMIL comes on, it sorta' catches you off guard. LOL.

1st time I hear the new album/CD I won't be thinking of GH/RB compatibility, that's for sure.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings and random thoughts about this though.

Would be awesome - although damn hard to sing!

Blackkat13 30 Oct 2009 04:52

I think just playing BOOH would be a hard song to play 9 minutes and all. It was a pain playing lynard skyard on there on easy.

jcmoorehead 24 Mar 2010 19:45

Any chance of seeing Meat songs on Rock Band?

Lo guys, haven't posted a topic on here in ages, browse the forums regularly but rarely post, there is something I wanted to ask/discuss. Does anyone know what the chances are of seeing Meat Loaf songs pop up on the on-line store for the game Rock Band?

I've been a huge fan of the game for quite some time and having discussed it with a few friends we all think Meat would be a perfect fit for the game, especially the songs from Bat 2.

Anyone else share these thoughts?

stretch37 24 Mar 2010 19:48

I was playing rock band 2 yesterday and I swear every few times I play Iwonder why Meat's songs arent on there.

lorenzoduke 24 Mar 2010 20:07

Who knows why he hasn't been included? The multitracks are clearly still available as far back as Bat.

PanicLord 24 Mar 2010 20:44

Because the songs are *!@? hard to sing :) It would be awesome if they were on there though. I have The Beatles Rock Band and it is superb.

Sarahdk23 24 Mar 2010 21:39

Everytime I play guitar hero, I think that it would be great with some Meat songs...it would awesome :-)

dukesofhazard 24 Mar 2010 21:46

I asked this very question a few months ago ;) I'd love to play Meat's songs on Rock Band/Guitar Hero since I'll never be able to in real life. Who knows, now he's appeared on PS3 in the form of the Vidzone videos, maybe there'll be a track pack for Hang Cool Teddy Bear like Guns n Roses & Metallica did with their last albums?

Also Anything For Love is on Singstar on Playstation so maybe there is hope!
