Meat Loaf for Glastonbury 2010?
With a new album coming soon and maybe a tour planned for next year, Surely Meat is a contender for the 'Legend' slot at Glastonbury Festival next year?
I know Meat isn't a fan of festivals but this isn't the usual festival. Tom Jones did it last year, Neil Diamond the year before and Meats songs would go down a storm here...come on Meat, get this date on your tour next year! |
I don't think he'll forget Knebworth in a hurry!

What happened at Knebworth?

From what i know of it, he was subject to an avalanche and cans and junk being thrown at the stage and eventually stopped the show.
|
my god! why?

Meat at Glastonbury? Please no! I really don't think that the Glastonbury crowd and Meat would be a good mix.
Knebworth was a terrible experience for Meat (then again with the weather that day it was a pretty terrible experience for those of us in the crowd, it didn't stop raining the whole time and we ended up after the show having to get our bus back to Yorkshire towed out of the mud) . With his leg in a cast having broken it in Australia he limped on stage to a barrage of plastic bottles filled with p*ss, the barrage continued for his whole set, which Meat battled to continue. Eventually he cut the set short and left the stage. |

Without the bottles of piss!

You listen carefully, you can hear them ;-)

All I can hear is some tit with an air horn!

He had the same problem at the Reading Festival in 1988, although I think todays festivals are different, I think if he played Reading, Leeds T in the Park ect then he would probably get the same reaction as he did at Knebworth and Reading but Glasto is different, people are there to enjoy the music, it's not a 'Rock' Festival, its a festival of performing arts and there is a bigger mix of acts. I've already seen a few posts on festival website forums saying Meat would be a good choice for the legend slot on the sunday so why not? I think it's about time the younger generation started to appreciate how good Meat's music is, this could give him a new younger fan base.

A no no for me, the less Meat does, the better the concerts he does do will be to be honest. :D

Don't think it's a good idea for Meat to do fesivals :nope: As Meat himself has said, people either love Bat Out Of Hell and Meat Loaf, or they hate it. Why play venues where there are people who don't want to listen to you play? He's much better sticking to his own shows. |

I sincerely hope he doesn't play Glastonbury. No one goes there to listen to the music.
|
From the songs played I guess Meat was on stage for about 45 minutes. Any ideas how long he was supposed to play for and what other songs he planned to do? Did the piss bomb brigade deprive us of a broadcast of I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us?

was that the same show where bonnie tyler played? or am I mixing something up?

Think Glasto worked really well for Bruce Springsteen this year. Can't believe he did a full 3 hour show and some 19 hours later he did the best show I've seen him do in Hyde Park which clocked in at over 3 hours.
Really not sure about Meat on Glasto. He would get a lot of stick for his voice now I reckon. :-( It's ashame as it suddenly appears to be "cool" to have these 60 year old geezers on there and Meat would have been interesting, but then I think it would have had to be Meat from let's say 2002/2003 latest. |

Bad Attitude Dead Ringer Midnight Paradise All Revved Up Bat Out Of Hell I'm assuming Meat didn't play them in that order as I'm pretty sure that after he stormed off the first time he came back on and did BOOH. If I had to guess what other songs he might have played I would go for Piece Of The Action or Modern Girl. |

Knewborth runs 43 minutes, plus a rough 14 minutes (7 mins for MG and 7 mins for POTA) brings the set to just under an hour (58 minutes give or take) Love her for both of us on the other hand is in the 8-9 minute range. and jumping the gun runs about 6 minutes. Which also would equal out to just under an hour. But chances are POTA and Modern girl where the two omitted songs. I'd actually rather he omitted revved up and kept modern girl. I mean really. Only three soundboards exists for that song and one's official! Also the intro to all revved up sadly is cut |
Gawd i feel old, i dont even want Meat to do an outdoor concert let alone one that might involve tents lol!!

Not from the Meat Loaf concert, but a picture to show the intimate arena (Grieghallen, with a capacity of max 2000 persons) where he performed: http://www.grieghallen.no/facilities/tour/2.5/wide.jpg |
