Understudies?

We all know that if Meat is ill then the show gets cancelled, but what about if one of the band members is ill or has been run over? Are there reserves waiting in the back? I doubt it would be cost effective for this to be the case, unless they were also part of the crew. Would a replacement quickly get drafted in from elsewhere and the set possibly altered? Or would the show get cancelled?

I would imagine the techs might know enough to step in for one or two shows maybe?

It was George Lucas' idea and how he eventually came up with Attack of the Clones, so it obviously didn't work in Birmingham or in Star Wars!
