What would you want in a massive Meaty box set?

Something to rival the new Springsteen collection.

With Meat's works distributed over various record labels, and probably very little unreleased studio stuff worth having anyway, I'd like a bumper live compendium set with a CD/DVD of a show from every tour since 1977.

The Flying Mouse 27 Aug 2010 19:41

 DVD of every promo vid made.

RadioMaster 27 Aug 2010 19:56

steak, some saussages, lamb chops, bacon

i'd settle for a few new great meat loaf/steinman performances

in either a nice shiny tin, or a wooden box.

The Flying Mouse 27 Aug 2010 23:26

 Wonder if there is anything at all usable from the Bad For Good era.

Pudding 27 Aug 2010 23:35

I wouldn't mind seeing the Dead Ringer film in a box set

I'm guessing you mean the 1995 Beacon Theater show, not Hudson Theater?

There were also concerts filmed in Rotterdam in 1994, Bremen in 1996 and one from the VBO tour that currently escapes me. These could all be included in full for the first time.

Yes, thanks. ;-)

Perhaps Bremen might be better. It must have been round the first time I saw Meat in May 96. Was a three hour show and quite spectacular. Probably the most fun version of Paradise I've seen when they repeated the "so now we're praying till the end of time" bit again.

Wario 28 Aug 2010 01:07

I already posted mine in the springsteen thread...

Couch Potato 28 Aug 2010 03:21

Iam sure, i could be wrong, I was only 11, but I am certain there was cameras in Sheffield in 1995. And Im sure Meat spoke about the show being filmed?

I could have dreamt it.

Id love to heat a live best of tour cd and if poss and DVD - I loved that tour, and was the last tour I attended just before leaving school - good memories. I went to (i think) either 3 or 4 shows at Sheffield of the same tour - amazing nights, stick in my mind like it was yesterday.

But It would be nice to see a box set of Meaty stuff - Complete back catalogue plus rareaties. I did buy the Bat/Dead Ringer/Midnight box set a few years back - possibly 10 years back, for £5!!

Julie in the rv mirror 28 Aug 2010 05:10

I'd buy this...

Couch Potato 28 Aug 2010 19:04

and a mug and a hat

Wario 28 Aug 2010 19:07

Gotta say maybe meat is indeed releasing a Bat 2 show come 2013. The twenty year anniversary of the album must have some surprises for sure.

But one show we always forget about is that show HCW was taken from on the Classic Albums album (Rotterdam, 1994 I believe).

He was in great voice, and that show was performed in its entirety. id much rather see that.

Footage from that was used in the A Kiss is A Terrible Thing To Waste Music Video

There's another one from 1989-90 as well. Plus I'll shit myself in public if Meat doesn't have more concerts filmed and hidden away.

RadioMaster 28 Aug 2010 19:21

speaking of Bat2, I'm quite happy with the Bat2 CE we got in 06. Nice digipak, remastered album, BOOH live, all the Music videos and a couple of interviews on dvd.

If you dont compare it to the new MASSIVE springsteen release (which would be unfair anyway) this release is pretty neat!

It had all the "Live Rehearsals" remastered on that disk except Loouder (which I can see) and Masculine (which is the best produced rehearsal track regardless if you like the song or not).

HCW on that disk is terrible.

Evil One 28 Aug 2010 19:32

They weren't remastered, someone just ramped up the volume, so in actual fact they sound worse than on the original singles.

But you can agree that Masculine was the best produced track :))
