108. Let's Be In Love
This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!! Let's Be In Love (4) A very very very boring ballad, one of the worst of Meat. I thought he cannot do worse than Cry Over Me or Man And A Woman but he could. Okay, maybe not worse, but not better at all. Very weak arrangement, very weak voice, bad high notes and Patti is more background singer than female vocal. One word: boring! My score: 4 |
I don't like it, and that's all I'm going to say.
|
Let's Be In Love grabbed me the first time I heard it all the way through. To me it is a simply beautiful duet with Patti. Heavy with redemption and yearning, to me it's one of the strongest love songs Meat's ever recorded, and full of a hope that with all its fragility is real and therefore strong, like the small creature trapped in Pandora's Box after the evils of the world had escaped .. and at the same time it is incredibly sensual. Stand out single, right down to the last lingering note..

One of the low points on the album I think. 2 out of 10. |
I agree with White of High and Wario. Before Let's Be In Love, I couldn't imagine to ever say a bad word about a song that features Patti. Don't know why such an awesome singer had to get one of the most boring songs that has ever appeared on a Meat Loaf album. It's not even a real duet and it doesn't give Patti a chance to show her skills.
I couldn't stand the song when I first heard a few seconds of it a year ago and I was heavily attacked by Meat and some forum members because of that. I was told that I couldn't judge a song by hearing just a short piece of it. Well, now I can say with confidence that I can. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. I'm sorry but that song and the other tearjerker are two of the few things I dislike about HCTB. It's one of Meat Loaf's best albums, in my opinion, but it lacks something he used to be famous for: Outstanding ballads. 2 (actually 1, but I'm granting it an additional point because of Patti) |

I'm talking about hope. You may see nothing about hope in the song .. I do. But hope WAS in the box given to Pandora and is therefore absolutely relevant to what I take from the lyrics, which is why it is called to mind for me. Caryl |
It was an attempt at humour and I was referring to the other Pandora's Box.

I like this song. In fact I don't think I've heard a bad Meat Loaf waltz so far. 7

8.5 The only song on the album that I waffled around with my feelings about. Some parts of this song make me melt. If I'm playing the album from start to finish it's no problem at all. But if I'm in a random mood, it's the only song on the album that I have to be "in the mood" to play. Still a great song in my Meat Loaf treasure chest.

I've grown to really like this song. It's a nice ballad and excellent vocals from Meat & Patti (I do agree that she should have gotten to sing more).

I still haven't really got into this yet either. Perty lame. Back in '03 when they released CHSIB I thought Wow, the perfect studio album track for the two. Should have been a bigger hit if you asked me. But this song just really doesn't do anything for me, I play it every once and a while but it don't make me jump around and express myself the way most of HCTB does. This is like a 3.

this song does absolutely nothing for me, it all sounds very forced musically and vocally...

I think this song is a great love song, and in fact i thought it might make a good single.
By the way was i the only on here upon hearing it that DIDN'T think it sounded like lesbian love lol? I honestly didn't so it made me laugh all the more when someone said it, didn't even occur to me lol. 8 for me. |

To rate. It is, IMO, the most boring song Meat has released since Man And A Woman (BBIS). The other songs on HCTB are amazing - this one lets the entire album down. Big time. Patti is completely and utterly pointless on this song (as someone noted above, she's more backing vocals than a duet partner). I don't normally mind the 3/4 songs (Martha, Cry Over Me, etc), but this one...not so much. 1 |
Another masterpiece one of the best songs on this album and one of his best that he has done 10/10 I love it
And another thing I don't hear lesbian love at all in the song but it is funny that some of you do lol |

That never came to me either until I read it here.
|
The fact that the title can be misheard as "Lesbian Love" is the only thing I like about the song.
|
LESBIAN LOVE. OMG. upped to 3/10 just cause i realized this.
|
I too didn't hear the 'lesbian love' when I listened to it. When I read it on here, I had to go play it to see what the hell they were talking about. I love it, it's a beautiful love song which Meat sings with depth and passion. I loved it when I first heard that snippet on twitter ages ago. I knew then I was going to love it when I heard the whole thing, and I was right.
10/10 Carole |
Sidebar: Meat also called it Lesbian Love in the Bonus DVD that came in that box set.

I like the song but it's true that Patti isn't featured enough. 9 |
Really like this song - a nice tender love song reduxed as a rock waltz. Beautifully performed, very moving. 9.
