Your favourite Film Score?

Don't think there is a thread on this yet?

What is your favourite film score? It can be a recent one or your all time favourite. Post a YouTube vid if you want/can.

I was thinking of film scores as I just read The Social Network won Oscar for the music. I don't really agree with that. I would say the most clever film music from 2010 I remember hearing was Daft Punk's music for Tron Legacy. Though the film mostly sucked, the music is incredible and very epic.

Favorite overall soundtrack:

For an original score, I guess this one:

Or this one, which is by the same composer- Bill Conti (and one of my favorite movies):

do video game scores count? I love Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie scores

Two prime examples:

BANJO-KAZOOIE 'Click Clock Woods':

BANJO-TOOIE 'Hail Fire Peaks':

As for movies, KING KONG 1933 score by Max Steiner is my all time favorite score followed by the 'Batman Returns' score.

I'm tempted to go for Reservoir Dogs, as every piece of music fits the film perfectly, and not a single second of it was composed for the movie. Everything was compiled from 70's compilations. (not sure if the movie would work at all with different music)

as for original score: Jurassic Park. Mainly because I grew up with it and know every bit by heart.

John Williams is a genius!

I would have chosen The Blues Brothers and Rocky but Julie was faster. :-)

I like 1970s crime movies and one of my favorites is Shaft, especially because of the music:

Forrest Gump :)

 Soundtrack wise, it's Blues Brothers and Commitments all the way 8)

Original scores, Empire Strikes Back comes instantly to mind, and i've been rocking the Kill Bill vol 2 score a hell of a lot lately 8)

Soundtrack for me is Blues Brothers and Lost Boys.

Original score would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I have to agree with the German further up. The Jurassic Park score is awesome. In fact the whole film is still awesome.

Many spaghetti westerns contain great music, e.g. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Ennio Morricone created one of the most memorable themes in movie history for that movie.

 A great theme, but I prefare the theme he made for Once Upon A Time In The West 8)

Just a wee bit too much harmonica though (although I know that's the whole point  )

Going onto war film themes, Where Eagles Dare and The Eagle Has Landed end title theme are both great, while the Luftwaffe March from the Battle Of Britain (an original composition) is whoop ass 8)

Evil One 28 Feb 2011 20:53

I think I should mention Raiders Of The Lost Ark. The score for that was top notch. And The Last Crusade, as it was basically the same music! :D

I have to watch these again, especially since they are both starring Michael Caine. Speaking of war movies, Klaus Doldinger's Das Boot soundtrack is pretty cool, too.
