19. Jim - Pandora's Box: Twentieth Century Fox
Jim - Pandora's Box: Twentieth Century Fox (5)
I think this is one of the worst Jim Steinamn song, maybe just Nowhere Fast and My Little Red Book are in thei scent. It's a very simple pop song. I hate the beginning of the song. The pop and the famous classical sound aren't in balance. My score: 5 |

Yes I know there are parts by Doors but I think more are by Jim. And he was assembling this song!
|
And I think it's just a cover by PB, from the Doors. I don't think Jim did write anything for that song.
I guess he only re-arranged it and smacked the 20th Century Fox theme in front of it. Haven't heard the original though, so I can't be sure on that. Other than that, I find it the most annoying song on Original Sin. 5.5/10 would do it for me... |
Never personally liked this song. I don't think that it fits into the Original Sin album at all. I like the instrumental opening but during the song the guitar riffs sound too much like the 80's and too much of a synthesizer and drum machine. I hate it when Jimmy uses the drum machine.
Max Weinberg anyone??? Oh, wait, he's too busy touring with that other musical genius......damn him... 3/10 |
I think also this is from the doors. I think it isn't bad, but it is also nothing special.
|
I have found the original version by The Doors. But that is only 2:43. And that isn't better than this. It's pop, that's beat. I have to agree with you. It's a Doors song and no Steinman!
|
Jim Steinman has always been a fan of Jim Morrison and the Doors. His music and especially lyrics are, in fact, a spin off of their music. I think it must have been very special to him to record this song. Ellen Foley is great. I like her voice. I like the guitar and the way the song is put on record.
7/10. |
Think it is a great song. In the theatre, when the movie start, and it is a 20 century movie.... you will hear the music, and then i'm so proud that i know who wrote it.
8.4 /10 |
Hey Tim, not to be a nitpick (Dutch lesson #2: Mierenporno!), but I don't think that Jim wrote the 20th Century Fox theme -- a quick search revealed Alfred Newman to be the composer...[/url]

okay... euh... well, it is nice that this song is on an album that Jim Steinman composed... or am i wrong again?

You got it right this time... I think :-p
