Please help to answer the mystery....

Hi there. I went to my very first concert when i was 16ish. That memorable and fantastic gig was Meat Loaf at Avoniel Leisure Centre in Belfast around 1984 or 1985. I have searched archives and tour guides for those years and i can't find any trace of the concert.... It happened, i was there, but why can't i find the exact date of it? Please please help...i'm going insane here......I'd love to try and obtain a programme or ticket if anyone can help, i'd be delighted.. Thanks Anna

hi, i'm pretty sure meat has mentioned the gig at local radio interviews previously, but as to when it was, ive no idea...

Wario 04 Nov 2011 01:09

almost all the gigs meat did in the 80s are all but untraceable on google. Ive found no review of an 1988 show online or a 1987, 1984-85, or 1983 show for that matter. All that remains are a few bootlegs. Its sad

Thanks for taking the time to read my post - i'm on a mission...I thought it was the 'bad attitute' tour but when i saw a picture of the Official T shirt from the tour, Belfast was ommitted from it !!!. I'm going mad....has anyone got an email address i could have to ask his management?

Have you got any recollection of the songs he sang that night? That'll perhaps help us help you to track down the show that you went to.

Were any Irish venues on the T shirt? I only say this because I vaguely recollect that in his autobiography he mentions doing an Irish show. During the mid 80's, whilst record sales had fallen off a tad, he was still touring a lot and still to large audiences. I am pretty sure he refers to a gig 'somewhere' in Ireland.
This would at least prove he did some shows over there at about that time. Not that I am doubting you!!!
I need to dig out his autobiography to check. I have been meaning to re-read it !!

Those shows he refers to in his autobiography were in the late 90s.

This thread, put together with a lot of research by Adje contains all the known tour dates that have been traked down so far. There's probably more out there that haven't been rediscovered yet.

Best of luck, Anna!

I thought I was on to something as I was flipping through Meat's auto-bio, but I came to a dead end re: a show in Belfast. You might find something that jogs your memory beginning at page 247 - Bad Attitude. Follow through to page 252 where Meat writes, "All of a sudden in '85, I have the opportunity to pull out of the doldrums. I've got a record. I've got a tour up. ..."

Yes it is the BA Live video. Brixton was either the Wednesday before or the Wednesday after that date. I know it was a Wednesday but the date is lost in the mists of time (and due to sleeping on the concourse at Kings Cross station the night ater the show waiting for the first train back up north)
