The Waves Are Pounding On The Sand Tonight

For those interested, I launched another weather balloon on Saturday, carrying a photographic payload to "near space" to bring back photos like these:

It landed 500 metres out to sea before being brought to shore (and my waiting hands) by the wind and incoming tide.

See my blog and my flickr set for more info and photos.

My eldest son did a talk to his class at primary school last week. His chosen topic was space. He will love these pictures!!!

No, the payload was too heavy because of the cameras and a backup tracker.

I do want to have a go at the "highest flight with camera" record soon using a single camera and a very lightweight tracker.

Shoreham-by-sea. Read the blog! We were sat in our car nearby, waiting for it to come in, watching it move on the live map screen.

Grrrrr ... no Lego man. Dunno how come that flight got such wide publicity as it was a very "ordinary" flight compared to some.

I've got you sussed. Was it not your true intention to land it on certain beach just a few miles up the coastline? :-)
