Meat when he goes to movies will we still talk about him

This is just a general Poll to see if we would still be talking about Meat when he goes to his movie career and when the albums stop. Just interested in your views.

Oh, Adam! I feel the answer to that is 'Of course, we will!!'

There is so much more to Michael Lee Aday than just the character of Meat Loaf he plays in concert!! We would be ignoring the entire other half of his career, if we were to stop talking about this side of it.

Check out the other forum here--Loaf! Camera! Action!--where people discuss his movies, exclusively. Lots of posts there. It's a very active forum. And I would assume and hope that that would continue as Meat's career continues to evolve.

These are just my thoughts on the subject. :D

Love,

Some will as much as before, some won't at all and some will but quite a lot less

As for me I have little interest in Meat's movie career. Movies have never interested me. Fight Club was on over here on TV in the UK a couple of weeks back - I have never seen it and didn't watch it even then.

I have no problem Meat moving into acting full time as that is of course what he wants to do but I for one doubt that I will be discussing his roles etc.

I don't think my answer to the question is No because we will still discuss his musical legacy. But I think you will find a lot less discussion going on - you have only to look back at this forum a couple of years ago when Meat was primarily acting - there was no where near as much activity as now

Hmmm could be, Puritan. But I think we'll still be talking about Meat, no matter what he will do! And there'll always be a lot to say, not only "discussing roles".

Sapphire Lady 15 Oct 2003 14:04

I'm with Puritan on this one.

Meat is first and foremost a rock legend. I love his music and always be interesting in talking about it. But I only have a passing interest in his movie career, mainly arising from curiosity.

That doesn't mean I don't rate Meat's acting abilities. After all there's always been a theatrical aspect to his stage shows and videos. I'm just not particularly interested in discussing his movies.

Alot of Meat fans will be interested in his films, others like me won't be. It's just down to personal preferences. I don't think Meat would be offended by that.

YES!
OF COURSE, Adam!

The reason I asked this question was because a reporter on an australian radio station asked this question to the audience and it was very mixed response

Adam
Ps thankyou for your responses
PPss Yes I would still talk about him as he is a great man .......

Meat is absolutely "the total package" for me- I won't stop following his career just because one aspect of it (new music) is less active. For that matter, new films would most likely come at a much faster rate than we have experienced for new albums, so we will have even more to talk about!

My answer yes, for two reasons. Meat is a skilled actor and I enjoy his film acting tremendously, and his music will live on. We found things to talk about between albums, will between CHSIB and Bat3, and doubtless will long afterwards :)

Fallen Angel 17 Oct 2003 20:56

DEFFINETLY!!! No matter what he does his legacy will live on 4eva!!! :P

White of High 18 Oct 2003 00:32

I say: No!
Why? I think we love Meat's music and not his movies. I think Meat is so much better singer than actor. You can say only one very great production, Fight Club and there Meat isn't lead. If I'd speak about an actor in a forum that will be Jean Reno, Robert De Niro or Gerard Depardieu and no Meat Loaf! Meat Loaf! Please! I wanna hear more and more albums by you in the future!!!!!!!!!

Kathy 18 Oct 2003 01:33

Oh, I think we'll be talking about him no matter WHAT** he turns his hand to. For one thing, _part_ of the appeal of his singing is his ability to express emotion, to convey strong feelings to a listener; and _part_ of the appeal of his show is his stage "presence" - you know, he just reaches out and grabs you. You can't take your eyes off him! Now, if he were to be given some good roles where he could really use those qualities, he might knock our socks off as an actor.

And, White of High, he's on the cover of Rustin, so maybe it's a bigger part (I ordered it but it hasn't come yet)

** within limits - interior decorating is out :)

Well White of High, when you say "we love Meat's music and not his movies" you speak for yourself (which is fine) and no doubt some others, but not for all of us.

You say "only one great production" .. but I think Meat gave a fine performance in Crazy in Alabama, a fine one in Everything That Rises, and a superb one in Focus. And Meat himself considers himself more an actor rather than a singer, even when on stage.

Meat has said he will not continue with the big tours .. however let's not bury his singing career yet as we have another album to look forward to, and the current one is still fresh and new :)

I'd hazard a guess that there will still be fans gathering here to talk well after the final Bat album .. as I said the music will live on .. and there will be new films to look forward to for those of us who admire Meat for his acting skill :)

I just watched Letterman (taped from last night because it's on too late for me) and the main guest was Dustin Hoffman. He was talking about acting and he said Marlon Brando had broken a barrier in that "He was so personal in his acting, it was almost too private to watch." Letterman replied something like "He showed a vulnerability that heretofore no one had." I couldn't help but think, "Well, Meat can do that." Does do that, all the time, with his singing.

Like everyone else here, I hope he will continue to sing for us. But I get kind of excited thinking about his having an expanded acting career.

What movies with Meat Loaf in them have you seen? I guess you haven't seen many, because I believe that if you have seen them all or most of them, you would likely have a different opinion.

Yes, Of course.
