"Meat Loaf Rushed To Hospital?!?" - Reuters News

Oh my god... someone PLEASE tell me this isnt true?!? From Reuters news http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle...toryID=3842796

"LONDON (Reuters) - American rock star Meat Loaf has been taken to hospital in London after collapsing during a concert, his record company says. The 56-year-old singer "collapsed from exhaustion due to a prolonged viral infection. It is not life-threatening," a company spokesman said on Tuesday.

Meat Loaf, famed for his mega-hit "Bat Out Of Hell", collapsed in the middle of Monday night's concert at London's Wembley Arena, tried to perform another song but on advice from paramedics was taken to the nearest hospital.

His sell-out concert on Tuesday night was cancelled on doctors' orders. "Meat Loaf will be re-evaluated by doctors today and further information about his status will be made available," a hospital statement said."

man i hope its not true but the facts seem too clear and accurate- anyone able to shed any light?

Invocation 18 Nov 2003 14:10

Its genuine. Just been announced on BBC news (radio 2)

SueW 18 Nov 2003 14:11

This "rushed to hospital" part is over-dramatic news talk.

Meat Loaf was taken to hospital last night and kept in overnight but he didn't leave Wembley until almost an hour after he stopped the concert (I was driving past the gates when it happened). Once he was in the ambulance it took them quite a while before they pulled out of the Wembley gates and I think the only reason that the flashing lights were used was because there was a long stream of cars trying to get out of the Wembley complex.

Meat Loaf has been ill for almost two weeks now so I think the best place for him IS hospital so that they can find out why it's taking him so long to recover and cure him.

Not almost, but he has been ill for 2 weeks now. Maybe it started all after Trier on the second. And btw, there was an ambulance outside too, but Meat was not in it.

Sue

Thank you for the clarification Sue ... and I agree.

Agree completely with you Sue - the best place for Meat really IS in the hospital. I'm sure as well, that deep down, stubborn as he is, Meat knows this and here's hoping he's gonna get the proper medical attention he obviously needs.

Meat has had one hell of a year with sickness and hospitalization, and i'm praying that once he's feeling better that will be an end to it, and he'll be fighting fit and raring to go. He must feel under so much pressure at the moment - he's a very determined man and i know he hates to feel as though he has let his fans down, but we his fans would rather have a cancelled concert that is rescheduled then to see him completely blown out through continuing to work when he is so ill.

Here's hoping you get better soon, Meat.

Thanks for the link, Sinecure, but it doesn't really tell us anything more than the news from Reuters.

ROSIE 18 Nov 2003 15:38

I was there sitting about 15foot from the stage when it happened, the doctors and paramedics were in the pit infront of me.

You mean an ambulance in Trier? As far as I know, there's an ambulance at any concert all the time. Not for the artist, but just in case someone needs to be rushed to a hospital (people in the audience or artists).

ladyloaf69 18 Nov 2003 16:11

meat needs to stay in the hospital and get the fluids he needs and medicine to fight whatever he has. i ama doctor and i know tha tthis is nothing to play around with . thses virus 's can take along time to recover and it can make you weak and short of breathe. continuing on with the tour is only going to make him weaker and the virus will continue to get stronger. please meat take it easy

badger 18 Nov 2003 17:05

i was just about to get on the train when i heard.

It's weird, i would expect to be dissapointed, but I think everyone is far too worried to be bothered about toights concert.

mrs badcrumble 18 Nov 2003 17:34

Hi .... I have never posted on here before but i just wanted to pop in and wish meat a quick recovery. I was at wembley last nite and seeing him collapse was awful .... here's hoping he's back to his former glory real soon - and if any of the moaners who chewed the ears of the poor stewards happen to read this you guys are verrrry selfish and should be ashamed of yourselves .... any true meat fans where to busy worrying about meat to give two hoots about value for money .... give the poor guy a break he did his very best for us :D

The Sun has an article on last nights show too, although very small

RoknRollJesus 18 Nov 2003 17:58

I agree with you Mrs Badcrumble! The posters who chose to come to these forums just to piss and moan about how much money they spent should be very ashamed! Our concern should be with Meat, his health and his family! I am certain that he will make it up to everyone...just give him time to recuperate!

On another note...I found a link that indicated that Meat was at the Northwick Park Hospital in London. Is there a possibility that someone over there could send him some flowers from all of us? Just thinking outloud WAY over here in the US.....

Just had a text message from Chris, saying that on radio two news it has been reported that Meat is in hospital with a prolonged viral infection (flu) and will be there on antibiotics for the next 48 hours.

Also on Radio two, they have played Man Of Steel 3 times with the message 'Get well soon to the ultimate man of steel'

Winston 18 Nov 2003 18:19

On the news over here in Ireland too.

ChrisBelfast 18 Nov 2003 18:21

northern Irelands Cool FM and Downtown Radio station have also covered it too.

Renegade Angel 18 Nov 2003 18:24

I just found out what happened, so just wanted to wish Meat a speedy recovery - Im sure Meat will be feeling he let his fans down but we all know that's not the case and we worry more about him than we do any shows being cancelled.

angel eyes 18 Nov 2003 18:29

 He has been on my mind all day. I'm glad that he is getting treatment and is resting instead of going ahead and jeopardising his health even more. The moaners and groaners should be ashamed of themselves. How much do they expect someone to give??

Get well soon Meat.

Lots of love and kisses
Angelxxxx

Meat-
If you check this site- take care of yourself. Your health (and comfort) is important to all of your fans. :)

Take the rest you need, We understand.

For everybody else: Let's hope Meat takes his time and gets better.

Much love,

I got Invicta Radio to put a message out today re Meat AND they covered it on their celeb news.

I thought I would be sad not to be going tonight but God, if this makes Meat get a grip and take care of himself that will be brilliant. Think I would be going crazy at him if I knew him personally!!!!!!!!!!

Would be good to send a card or flowers to him?? Any idea's??
