Did anyone notice 2 weeks ago on Pop Idol they showed childhood photos of each of the contestants to the music of the first single they bought? Mark's was Anything for Love. :D

Michelle has a brilliant voice and as a fellow Scot I'm certainly going to be voting for her tonight.

8) That Cowell's got his head screwed on, no doubt about it.

Meat Loaf - Michelle McManus

The Sun Saturday December 13th 2003

QUOTE: Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell last night backed Michelle McManus to win - and compared her to rocker Meat Loaf.

TV's Mr Nasty said the 15st Glasgow lass could easily be a star like the heavyweight Bat Out of Hell star.

And he added, "When you see Meat Loaf in a video, you don't think he's the best looking guy on earth - you just think he's got a great voice and a great personality.

Sorry about this R. Double Posted this in General Messages with type written article

Oh my, theres all this fuss about Michelle being a "big girl"- and I just put her weight into a converter to see what it works out to in American pounds only to discover that she only weighs about 3 pounds more than me! Yikes! I guess there's no "American Idol" in my future. Oh well...as I said to someone who asked about my weight- I'm no Meat Loaf, but I'm about 1 and 3/4 Patti Russo's!

Jayd 13 Dec 2003 17:57

Yep, I read this too. Small picture of Meat there also. :D

Shellyb01 13 Dec 2003 20:39

Anyway, at the end of the day, size doesn't matter - I'm not the slimmest of women, but I'm not the biggest, I could probably do with losing some weight, and sometimes (in fact most times) I look at myself and really really hate what I see  , but then I remember that I'm loved, and it's not because of what I wear, or what I look like, it because I'm me, and we're all just amazing beings, and we were put on this earth by whoever, or whatever you believe in for a reason ....... so it shouldn't matter what size, age, colour or whatever you are ...... we're all individuals and to me we're all special ..... (on this site anyway!!! :) ) There's too much sterotyping that goes on in this world, if people stopped, took a step back and actually took time to get to know that person they'd find someone truly wonderful .... :)

and that's all I have to say!

Shellyb01 - I agree fully. I am also larger than life. But at the end of the day I am happy. I have a lovely husband & daughter.

I have a job I enjoy & collegues I have fun with.
I can't sing to save my life, but my sense of humour makes up for it.

We are all unique & special. I love the fact that everyone is appreciated on this site - keep up the good work. :D

Vote Michelle 2nite :D

Keep Rockin everyone :P

Maria

ChrissybabezNI 14 Dec 2003 01:16

12 stone is 132 pounds i think theres 11 pounds in a stone.

angel eyes 14 Dec 2003 01:26

Sorry to say but there are 14 pounds in a stone.

In this life people should treat people for what they are like and not pre judge on looks alone.

Love

Thanks Chrissy and Angel Eyes :D

Bigmomma 14 Dec 2003 11:34

the name is big momma, need i say more
and just for my ideas, it is the personality what counts not the stuff
on the outside, fat or thin, look at simon cowell, he is nice and thin
but has he got a nice personality ?
my granny allways said a rosy apple can be rotten inside,.....

DebGreaves 14 Dec 2003 11:46

You are so right there Bigmomma, its whats on the inside that counts. I hope that Michelle wins next week, she deserves to. Im fed up of hearing other people bitching about her because of her weight. After all im not exactly the slimmest woman, lol, but I know people love me, Im happy and have a great sense of humour.

What is that blue thing in Meat's mouth???

Deb 14 Dec 2003 12:48

I'm in shock lol!!! standing at a Meat show in Sheffield last night and get a text message from my daughter!! SAM WENT OUT!!!! I can't believe it!! looks like Michelle will win now, unless Mark is a real dark horse, I really do like him though.

I have a theory on Sam going out though lol, doubt anyone else will see it (my family don't  ) Sams from Barnsley, for those of you that don't know this is very near or in (not sure which) Sheffield. Now how many local people would of been at The Arena last night lol. ? It seems like the majority of the contestants fanbase is their local towns, so poor Sam must of had loads of his at the meat show lol. Including me!!!

It must be chewing gum.

I think Michelle has a great voice. Does it really matter that she is not a stick, surely we should look past the exterior and see whats on the inside. Never judge a book by its cover. Good luck to her. I was a size 16-18 (uK size) when I got married, I am now about 22-24 (UK size) but my husband loves me as I am, he always says its whats on the inside that counts.

MLFAN17 14 Dec 2003 19:23

I dont think Simon cares about Meats weight I mean look who won American Idol? This only seems to apply to women of his size or used to be size. I hope Michelle can do it for anyone of her size! I am in a wheelchair(alos not that skinny anymore unfortunately lol) and I know that even if I COULD sing I wouldnt make it in the business because of the wheelchair. I have been trying to think of others in rock music who have made itas far or longer then Meat has regardless of his size.

wideawakewesley 17 Dec 2003 00:01

Michelle compared to MeatLoaf, I nearly choked when I read that!

Sorry, but they can try and say she has all the personality in the world, but she doesn't. She's dull off stage, lifeless on stage and has a decent voice. If she writes her own songs, maybe she'll suceed, but if she doesn't, she hasn't got a cat in hells chance.

In fact all of this series of possible pop idols are nothing of the sort, give me Wil anyday!

Nellie1000 17 Dec 2003 10:34

Big mistake Michelle! This morning Michelle is quoted as saying shes nothing like Meatloaf. She's attractive and Meat isn't. She's just lost my vote. She should understand that it was a complement to be compared to him. Simon Cowell was saying that you don't have to be stick thin to succeed in the music business not that she looks like him! I totally agree with the previous post.

christa 17 Dec 2003 12:46

I really cant see what all the fuss is about with this Michelle, Her voice aint bad but where is the personality? It s just not there.

I will be voting for Mark as he sings well and he has a nice cheeky sense of humour, well I would be voting if I wasn't out on the p--s with my mates!

As for Michelle saying she is better looking than Meat I would argue that one to the death! At 56 he is still as gorgeous as 20 years ago, will she be? Doubt it very much.
