Looks like he will be on the Queen's honorary birthday list; typically him with the 'new' name :))

PanicLord 01 Jun 2006 21:31

Lol - great interview.

A lot of extremely experienced actors and musicians still get stage fright after decades of performances. I reckon the nerves is what drives these people (including Sir Loin) to give such fantastic performances.

RadioMaster 01 Jun 2006 22:00

Could somebody explain the joke he made in the end?
Didnīt get it.

vrg 01 Jun 2006 22:19

I can tell the story, but I'll let the UK people tell you instead.

Diane 01 Jun 2006 22:22

It was a play on words R. Instead of Meat Loaf he was joking about calling himself Loin (as in pork loin). Put the Sir in front of Loin and you have sirloin which in English is the name for a prime cut of beef.

Hope that's not too confusing!

I'll try Radio.. ok, sirloin is an expensive cut of beef here in North America, ie: sirloin steak. Meat was joking around with a bit of self deprecating humour, that if the Queen should ever knight him, he would change his name from the humble food of "meatloaf" to a knights name befitting his original name, therfore becoming, Sir Loin. Now do you understand?

If you still don't understand, Radio.. just know that Meat was poking fun at himself. :)

LOL, I see were both trying to help Radio at the same time, Diane. :)

,...and for the sake of historical accuracy wasn't it King Henry VIII who actually Knighted the piece of beef he liked so much and called it Sir Loin ...hence sirloin got its name. Maybe it was BB King I can never remember.

Yes you get education and history as well on this site!

Great interview, Thanks Diane.
