Funeral Songs
Found this on the BBC site.
I think I would like Disco Duck - Rick Dees and his cast of Idiots to be played as my coffin went through the curtains and I would like everyone to waddle out the door past the vicar when the curtains closed. I'd be gone but certainly not forgotten. :yay:
I kinda wondered that Highway to hell made #3!
Imagine the reverends reaction to that! |
My funeral song is going to be...Blind Before I Stop...
If i die and I am cremated then i want Johnny Cash "ring of fire" as i slip through the curtain.
One of my friends has the best idea. She works in film and knows loads of special effects guys so she is having a regular funeral with a big bouquet of flowers on the coffin and her final song will be bat out of hell. As Meat sings "the last thing I see is my heart, still beating, breaking out of my body adn flying away...." The flowers will explode to reveal an animatronic heart hurtling up to the top of the church! |

I'd want Honkey Tonk Angel by Elvis Presley!
Good choice. At what point in the funeral would you like it played?
Pud  |
I want 'Going Underground' by The Jam.
In my own funeral I would like to hear Meatīs Where Angels Sing
I want Rock and Roll Dreams at mine
I'm not having a funeral ... I'm going to live forever, or at least die trying :))
Richie Sambora's - The Answer and Father Time which will be sang by my very dear freind who's the Richie singer in the best Bon Jovi tribute band. He thinks i'm never going to die and that he wont have to do it, but he will  and while I'm at it I may get Steve Steinman to sing Bat out of Hell as well lol
Definitely Tears in Heaven
I want Heaven Can Wait, even though it won't be waiting much longer. :D
Tears In Heaven was sang at my friend's funeral and that was extremely moving, I just think some songs are too predictable for funerals...I'd like to think at mine they'll play R&R Dreams and everyone will go out with a smile!
I still can't make my mind up for when the final curtain falls as my coffin glides it's way to the furnace...... it's either Bat out of Hell, or Out of the Frying Pan.
And I only want flowers at my funeral from people who were bothered to buy them for me when I was alive. |
I don't want flowers, I'll have some pink lilies to go with me but I'd rather the money go to a charity I choose

I'm serious (for once!). Those who know me well really wouldn't be surprised by my choice..... anyone shocked or offended by my choice wouldn't really be there to pay their final respects, would they?
I rather like the idea of my kids going up in a hot air balloon and tipping my ashes over the side above my house too! Or being fired out of a firework. Or having my ashes made into a diamond. The jury's still out on deciding that bit. |
You may well be serious AB, but it still made me laugh.:D
Reading this thread just made me want to live...

I just wanted to talk about the fact that people play songs like Highway to Hell or Always look on the bright side of life at their Funeral...and now it became nearly a suicide thread:shock::lmao: |
I want quite a few songs played at my funeral.
Definitely Garth brooks singing The Dance - Video Mainly because it is a sad song. You can forget a lot of this happy clappy stuff, at my funeral I want floods of tears adn weeping women dressed in black hurling themselves on the coffin  Purely because I like these songs: Keith urban - Days Go By - Video Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You - Video Cliff Richard - Wired For Sound - Video Everyone is to sing along to Alan jackson & Jimmy Buffett singing Five o clock somewhere - Video And just to finish on ahappy note, everyone is to leave the service doing the full dance and singing along to one of the greatest songs ever - Morecambe & Wise - Bring Me Sunshine - no video of that but i a sure ou all know the dance with the waving hands!!! |
