is correct cause 0=0

but not 2=1

you get it because you times the first brackets by the 2 while the second side after the = isnt multiplied by 2

2 multiplied by 0 is still 0????

You should get 0 from this line.

You stated a = b so if we subsitute we get 2(a² - aa) = a² - aa

Apply the basic rule of calculus that brackets, division, multiplication, ddition & subtraction must be done in that order and we get:

2(0) = 0

I don't feel any smarter, quite the opposite in fact! :shock:

How about this one then:

The square root of 25 (sqrt(25)) is +/- 5

So,
sqrt(25) = sqrt(25)
5 = -5
10 = 0 (adding 5 to both sides)
1 = 0 (dividing both sizes by 10)

We know that for all numbers A, A*1 = A
Also, we know that for all numbers A, A*0 = 0

So, if we multiply both sides of that last equation by A, we get:

A = 0

Thus proving that all numbers equal zero.
