I don't know if this sounds crazy but when I used to have insomnia I got myself back to sleep by staring at the Bat covers. I'd just stare and stare and stare and never get bored.

My favourites are: Bat Out Of Hell, I can't imagine it without it, Dead Ringer (although it doesn't represent what the album's about), Bat 2 and Bad Attitude. Bat 2 and B.A. are my all-time favourite record covers.

I can't remember who designed B.A., but I did a google on Richard Corben who has a website full of his work (and you can write to him), Berni Wrightson who did the cover of Dead Ringer. There's a great site with literally hundreds of pictures of his work. Michael Whelan did Back Into Hell and The Very Best (I always thought Very Best's cover was intended for the BAT 3 that never happened...) Rafeal DeSoto did the cover for Welcome to the Neighborhood which I think is awesome (great Pulp Fiction theme). The inlay pics are all taken from 40s magazines and movie posters (i.e. Where Angels Sing is the notorious movie LOLITA)

Gil Ervgren (sic?) designed the picture, on CHSIB, in the 30s. It was originally, and how's this for irony, called FUNHOUSE. Google his name (it should come up with the correct spelling btw.) next to FUNHOUSE and see what you'll find. A group called BONEPONY also used this picture for an album they wrote called FUNHOUSE (so now you know why Meat intended on calling CHSIB this name...)

The worst, to me, is Midnight at the Lost and Found. At least the pic on Razor's Edge (the single) was more interesting. Blind Before I Stop is confusing because there are two versions of the album cover: one of Meat looking like Michael Bolton and another one where it looks like he's in a wanted pic. Again, it does't make any sense

LOL and don't forget the first re-issue of Meat Loaf & Stoney. Fireball's everlasting advice to me: "burn it"
