I dont see what is so bad on that idea. If you´re talking to somebdy in real life you see the gender too.
And it definitely doesnt matter to the quality of the posts or something else.
you´re all posting like you think that it´s a problem to notice the gender. Do you really think that would change something? That nobody would talk to you anymore if they know your gender?
(I know that it´s not so, but it sounds as if it is)

That seems to be very controversial, I think the best idea would be to start a poll and then do what most people want.
